On his way to the meeting room, Lucas already saw dozens of awakened who were inside waiting areas. He knew that was just a small part.
Once he arrived, Lucas sat down next to Francesco. Leah was too busy with the business end of the Helios guild. And she wasn't really needed for interviewing awakened.
She was in charge of both, management and business administration. Because of that she was practically the highest ranked person after Lucas and had the most work.
Francesco and Lucas talked a little before starting the interviews.
They were discussing what they were looking for.
Francesco already studied and familiarized himself with everything about awakened, so he knew what to look for. He also had a good eye for people and their potential.
Lucas was more straightforward.
He just looked at the facts that his Odin's Eye could see. He looked at their stats and deep emotions.
But this time they planned to hire a lot more people, including the ones without a class.
They wanted to give people more chances and Lucas saw firsthand that it was difficult to know what class one might get.
If they weren't useful to the guild, he could always kick them out later.
The only that troubled him was how to organize the combat teams with that many numbers.
Right now he just planned to create both big and small teams based on experience and skills. Of course the composition of their classes was also important.
Lucas had Grishna and Elara at two side of the large meeting room that was at the second floor of the building.
This time they planned to interview 5 people at once and Lucas would immediately dismiss anyone with a bad personality.
Lucas and Francesco also had their assistants to their sides in case they needed them.
There was also a security guard on their side of the door and two guards outside the door.
After they were both ready, Lucas gave the signal to the guard at the door.
He opened the door and told the other two that it was time.
One of them had an ipad with the names of the applicants and in which order they would come in.
He called the first 5 names and they stood up and walked inside the large meeting room.
There were 5 chairs in the middle of the room and were 1 meter apart.
Lucas and Francesco were a few meters in front of them behind a large table.
The meeting room had giant windows behind where Lucas was sitting, but the blinds were closed.
The room only had dim lights and looked intimidating.
Lucas thought it was easier to read people's emotions when they were scared or nervous.
He looked at the five applicants sitting next to eachother.
On the far left was a young woman in her early twenties with a small build and brown hair and eyes.
She looked incredibly nervous.
Next to her was a man in his thirties who looked calm on the outside but was nervous inside.
On his right was a guy in his early twenties and he looked unbothered. He was currently thinking to himself.
'Pff. Am I supposed to be scared? Look at these pussies being all scared. I am already level 9 and have two skills. I will easily get in since they need as many as they can get.'
Lucas sensed his incredible arrogance and other negative emotions. He could immediately tell that he had a nasty personality.
Lucas pointed at him and said.
"You are out."
The arrogant guy was shocked.
"What?!"
"Why?"
Lucas released some mana with killing intent and spoke again.
"Because I said so."
The guy started sweating and he got scared. He quickly stood up and left.
Lucas calmed down and looked at the others who were all visibly more nervous than before.
The other two applicants were two women in their late twenties who seemed to know eachother.
Francesco looked at Lucas and asked.
"Is the preliminary inspection over?"
Lucas nodded and said.
"Yes. You can proceed."
"Understood guild master."
Although he didn't really call him that in private, it was important to establish hierarchy in front of others.
Francesco started asking them some questions. Mostly about themselves and everything that happened to them after they awakened, including their abilities.
In the meantime Lucas carefully looked at their stats.
He saw that the girl on the far left was only level 2 and decided to speak up.
He pointed at her.
"You. Why are you only level 2? Did you never encounter a monster?"
She hesitated and nervously answered.
"I o-only saw one monster after awakening. And my level was too low to volunteer for gate raids with the military."
Lucas immediately sensed that she was lying from her mana fluctuations inside her heart.
"That's a lie. You're out."
She was shocked and nervously stood up to leave.
Once she was out the door, Lucas looked at the others and spoke.
"I don't care if you're level is low. You can just increase it with our help, but I do not tolerate lies. And I can always tell when someone lies."
His cold and grey eyes were shining in the dark room.
The three remaining applicants were a little scared.
The guy started calming down and the two women looked at eachother for comfort.
He then let Francesco proceed with the questions while looking at their stats.
First was the guy.
He was level 8 with the F-rank spear mastery skill. His stats were average. But Lucas sensed that he had a brave and determined personality.
The two women who he suspected were close friends both had a class.
They were both level 10 and the one on the left with blonde hair and blue eyes had the archer class while the one on the right with brown hair and eyes had the assassin class.
They were nothing special. The archer had just the one D-rank archery skill. The assassin had the D-rank dagger mastery skill and E-rank camouflage skill.
He could also tell that they had kind personalities.
After some more questions from both Lucas and Francesco, they decided to hire all three of them into the guild.
