The three new recruits were instructed to follow an assistant to another room where they would meet someone from the legal department to handle the rest.
Lucas also handed a piece of paper to the assistant to give to the lawyer. It had information on the recruits so that he could give them a specific contract, fitting their abilities.
After they signed the contract they could decide on wether they wanted to live at their headquarters or to go home and come back tomorrow to get settled in.
Lucas was starting to get a headache just thinking about how to organize the combat teams later. Luckily he had the strategy department with 15 members to help him.
After getting ready, Lucas called for the next group.
This time only one out of five made it.
A man in his late twenties. He was level 11 with the Sword Master class.
In situations like this, Lucas remembered how rare it is to find people with a good personality.
Loyalty and honesty were extremely important to him. Not matter how skilled someone was, if they weren't loyal and honest, they were useless to him.
Lucas called for the next 5.
This time there were 2 people who passed.
One woman in her early thirties with a level of 7. She was nothing special, but Lucas looked more for personality than skills this time. People could always improve their skills, especially with the system.
The second person to pass was just a teenager. It was a 18 year old boy. He was level 6, but he had a couple skills already.
Although he had a lot of rage in his heart, he was really a kind person. He had lost his parents to monsters in another city and came here with his grandmother and little sister.
Lucas felt pity for him but was also certain that he would become useful.
When Lucas called the fourth group, he was extremely disappointed. Even though there were two people with a class, no one from those five was a loyal or honest person.
All five were rejected.
Once they stepped out of the room and other applicants saw all five walking towards the exit, they became even more nervous.
So far, only 6 out of 20 people passed.
They called in the fifth group without much hope, but Lucas was surprised after meeting them.
This time four out of five were worthy of joining the guild.
The first was a woman in her mid twenties. She was level 8 with the F-rank sword mastery skill.
The second person was a man in his late thirties. He was level 9 and had the F-rank mace mastery skill.
The third one was a man in his mid twenties. He was level 10 and had the Spear Master class.
And the fourth and last recruit was a man in his early twenties. He was only level 6, but he had the E-rank close combat skill.
Once they all left the meeting room and headed in different directions, the other applicants were shocked again.
They couldn't figure out at all who and why they passed.
After a short break, the sixth group entered.
This time only one person passed.
Surprisingly, it was a woman in her mid forties. She was level 4 and had no skills, but she had a very kind and determined personality. Apparently her husband died to monsters and she had to protect her two young sons.
Lucas was sympathetic.
'This is the first time a woman this old has been an applicant. She will have a much harder time, but I will still give her a chance. And if can't handle combat, I might offer her a more normal job in the guild.'
Everyone in this group was utterly shocked when only the middle aged woman passed, including her.
A couple complained but were silenced by Grishna's killing intent.
Once they left, the applicants inside the waiting areas were once again very surprised.
They started whispering among eachother.
"What's going on?"
"How do they decide who to pass?"
"I don't get why they would hire an old lady."
"That's disrespectful young man. I believe that they prioritize character and I am sure someone like you will never pass."
The young guy got angry and tried to punch the old man, but the the security guards stopped him and kicked him out of the building.
It was finally time for the seventh group to enter.
This time only four people walked in, including the old man.
Lucas was confused but was quickly informed of what happened outside from one of the guards.
"I see."
Lucas looked at them and said.
"The three of you can leave. The older gentleman can stay."
They were all shocked and felt that it was unfair, but they were quickly escorted by the guards.
Although the security guards weren't awakened like the applicants, they had guns that were approved by the association.
The old man sat calmly in his seat while Lucas looked at his stats.
Name: Giuseppe Marino
Class: Blacksmith
Level: 10
Stats:
Strength: 26
Agility: 20
Stamina: 28
Senses: 17
Intelligence: 22
Skills: Smithing (B), Repair (C), Sword Mastery (E)
Lucas was amazed when he saw this.
Not only that, but Lucas could sense that Giuseppe was kind, calm and confident.
Before Francesco could even ask a question, Lucas spoke.
"A blacksmith. That's truly fascinating."
Both Francesco and Giuseppe looked surprised.
Giuseppe asked.
"How did you know?"
Lucas answered.
"I can see these things."
"Why do you want to join the Helios guild, sir marino?"
"Haha how interesting. You can just call me Giuseppe and I wish to join because I am fascinated by all the supernatural stuff happening around us and I believe I can test my smithing abilities best with the Helios guild."
Lucas smiled and replied.
"You are correct Giuseppe. We will give you everything you need for your work and you can settle into our smithy. Welcome to the Helios guild."
"Haha, thank you sir! I appreciate you giving this old man such an incredible opportunity!"
The italian man in his mid sixties with grey hair and beard and a short but muscular build was very happy and followed an assistant to sign the contract.
Lucas was extremely pleased.
'How fortunate. He is exactly what we needed.'
