35 Becoming a Chief
Tiger King Saka finally conceded and pledged allegiance to Lukas. He activated his Treasure Hunter skill, officially subjugating the beast as his pet.
"Wah ha ha ha ha!"
Lukas's laughter echoed throughout the local internet cafe in Germany. The people at the surrounding stations looked at him strangely, thinking he had gone mad.
"To actually subjugate an Epic-grade pet! I'm a genius!"
Lukas looked at Saka's attribute panel, which showed a complete landslide victory compared to his old pet, Lucky. Now, who would dare to challenge him to a duel? Originally, the Treasure Hunter's weakness was close combat, but now, with Tiger King Saka protecting him, that weakness was perfectly resolved. Lukas could now unleash his ranged output to his heart's content.
Looking at the mighty Saka beside him, Lukas suddenly wanted to recite a poem, but he couldn't come up with a single word. It was time to settle scores with those natives; besides, the treasure on the island hadn't been found yet. He wouldn't be leaving for now; this was the advantage of having a powerful companion.
He brought Tiger King Saka back to the tribe's village. The natives huddled in their homes, not daring to come out. Lukas stood in the center of the clearing and snorted coldly, "All of you, come out!"
No one moved.
"Not coming out, huh? I'll set this place on fire!"
Seeing Lukas about to burn down their houses, the natives immediately ran out in fear. Saka let out a deafening tiger's roar, and the natives immediately knelt on the ground, kowtowing to Lukas.
"Now you're scared? Hmm?"
The natives nodded repeatedly, trembling with fear. One of the elders took out a feathered headdress, muttering something unintelligible, and then placed it on Lukas's head.
"Congratulations, you have become the Chief of the Canary natives!" "Upon becoming a native Chief, you automatically learn the native language." "Congratulations, you have unlocked the achievement 'I Am the Chief' and received the corresponding title."
"Who wants to be chief!" Lukas exclaimed. He had inexplicably become a leader.
"Chief, we are your people!" "Chief, please forgive our past transgressions!"
The natives knelt there, tears streaming down their faces. Lukas looked around; it seemed there wasn't much to inherit from this position. Were there any gold mines?
"What's a gold mine?" the natives asked.
"Never mind. Alright, I won't hold you responsible. I need to go to this place now, so take me there."
Lukas pointed in the direction of the treasure; this was his true purpose for coming to the island. As a Treasure Hunter, it would be shameful to ignore a discovered chest. Led by the natives, Lukas arrived at the site. It was a dangerous cliff inhabited by aggressive monkeys. A shining treasure chest sat beneath one of them.
Lukas pointed to the chest, "Who will get that for me?"
A brave native warrior volunteered and began to climb the cliff. He was almost at the chest when several monkeys picked up stones and threw them. The native lost his grip and fell into the sea below. Fortunately, he only sustained minor scrapes.
Lukas thought of a solution. He pulled out a banana from his inventory and threw it to the monkeys. They ate contentedly and retreated. He then sent two more natives, who successfully retrieved the chest. Standing before it, Lukas rubbed his hands together. He lit a cigarette: "May the Goddess of Luck favor me; let it be a high-grade item!"
Lukas opened the chest, and a beautifully crafted weapon appeared.
Extended Flintlock Pistol
Quality: Epic-grade
Level: 40
Effect One: Hit rate increased by 50%.
Effect Two: Range increased by 300 meters.
Effect Three: The further the distance an enemy is hit, the higher the damage dealt.
"Yay!"
Lukas was ecstatic; he had finally upgraded his weapon. His old flintlock could now be retired. With this new pistol, he was practically the king of long-range sniping. As a Treasure Hunter, he intended to snipe others from the shadows while seeking wealth. For the next period, Lukas planned to stay on the island to raise his level.
Matthias Engel woke up, and it was already two in the morning. Having slept from day to night in his German apartment, his fatigue was completely gone. He was now nocturnal—a night owl. He opened his computer, and Unreal Entertainment had provided feedback on issues submitted by players. He uploaded these to the Game Producer System, and it automatically resolved them with a hotfix. It turned out that not having to write code was a liberating experience.
He opened Lena Morgen's live stream and found her leveling up in a dungeon in the Caribbean Sea.
"Wow, a fashion item dropped!" Lena exclaimed.
The comments were shocked. "Fashion items can actually drop from dungeons! This is so generous!"
Lena generously gave the fashion item to a musketeer in her team.
"Thank you, Leni!" "You're welcome, I already have the same set."
Earlier, Lena had spent money to buy a beautiful fashion set. There were several types: swimsuit series, pirate series, ghost pirate series, and noble series. Lena, urged by her viewers, had equipped the swimsuit. When she moved her character in the third-person view, the comments were filled with emojis.
"Maybe I should change my fashion item," Lena felt the swimsuit was too revealing. The comments vehemently protested, with several big spenders sending digital gifts, demanding she keep it. "Alright, you win, I'll use the swimsuit for now."
Matthias, watching from his screen, smiled knowingly. The swimsuit series was currently the best-selling skin. He then used the Game Producer System to view player activities from a god's-eye perspective. As he swept over a deserted island in the Atlantic, he saw an incredible scene. A player named Lukas was leading a native tribe to attack another tribe.
"Charge, for the tribe!" Lukas shouted.
Lukas fired his new gun from a distance while the natives charged with spears. They quickly conquered the opposing tribe, granting Lukas a large amount of experience.
Matthias smiled, "This guy is quite interesting."
