The next morning, I left the cabin before sunrise.

My arm still hurt, but I was used to pain already plus it was already healing. All my concentration was on getting ready before that damned ball. 

The road to my father's estate was quiet and I couldn't help the feeling of nostalgia that hit me as I got closer and closer.

I had called my brother who arranged for an escort to pick me up and for the first time, I was truly grateful to come from an influential family. 

As usual, guards still patrolled the walls, and banners still flew with the family crest. I couldn't withhold the feeling of pride that enveloped my chest.

For a moment, I thought about ending this whole thing. Seraphina, my revenge, all of it and permanently moving him or finally take care of one of my father's businesses but I knew deep down that I would never truly be able to let either go.
