Chapter 36 - Chapter 30: Book of Scarlet and Violet

In the cabin, Professor Sada and young Arven sat on chairs meant for entertaining guests, observing the surroundings.

The room was furnished with various pieces of furniture. Although it was somewhat cramped, everything appeared to be in perfect order.

On the windowsill sat a flower pot, with a Smoliv lazily basking in the sun. Judging by its demeanor, it was well cared for.

It seemed the owner here was someone who loved cleanliness and had a deep affection for Pokémon.

"Thanks for waiting!"

Naoki brought drinks to Professor Sada, young Arven, and Mabosstiff.

There wasn't any tea on the ranch, so he used MooMoo Milk from Porto Marinada Market, added some Alcremie's cream and Berry chunks, creating a simple caramel-flavored Berry Milk.

The effect of this milk was to remind Pokémon of sweet, joyful events while restoring their energy.

The still-sullen young Arven took a sip, and his face immediately showed a surprised expression.

Beside him, Mabosstiff licked a few times with its tongue, eyes widening, then couldn't help but speed up its licking.

Professor Sada didn't drink but instead began to speak:

"My husband Turo and I have been researching [past] and [future] Pokémon in the Sky Pit of the Paldea Region, until recently, when the Time Machine was successfully developed. Those Pokémon recorded in the Book of Scarlet and Violet were summoned to our world."

Naoki looked at Professor Sada, keenly noticing the information in her words.

"Book of Scarlet and Violet?"

Professor Sada was surprised, "You don't know?"

"I've heard of it."

He was well aware. Naoki thought to himself, but he was concerned that Professor Sada mentioned the Book of Scarlet and Violet, not separately the Book of Scarlet and the Book of Violet.

As everyone knows, GF divides games into two versions for sale. Pokémon Scarlet tells the story of Professor Sada and past Pokémon; that was the Book of Scarlet.

The author of the Book of Scarlet was a man named Heath, who documented his exploration with the Observation Team to an unknown area in the Paldea Region, where they saw Paradox Species Pokémon not native to the Paldea Region.

Meanwhile, Pokémon Violet narrated the story of Professor Sada's husband, Turo, and future Pokémon.

This version had no Book of Scarlet, instead, it had the Book of Violet, featuring future paradox Pokémon.

According to Professor Sada's words, the world's Book of Scarlet and Violet wasn't separate but was one the same.

Likewise, Professor Turo, responsible for researching future-form Paradox Pokémon, existed in this world.

Realizing this information, Naoki's first thought wasn't about those past and future-form Paradox Pokémon.

Instead, it was that Arven might lose both his father and mother sometime in the future, becoming a true Batman...

With that thought, Naoki looked over to Arven drinking milk with Mabosstiff.

Professor Sada, noticing his gaze, turned to her son beside her, her eyes revealing a hint of an imperceptible gentle expression, and she introduced, "This is my son, Arven."

At this time, Arven was not yet the senior exploring for Secret Spices, but just a child not yet ten years old.

Naoki thought of Arven just now bravely facing Koraidon to protect Professor Sada and praised, "He's a very courageous boy!"

Due to his parents being busy with work, young Arven mistakenly believed Koraidon and Miraidon took his parents away, thus disliking others mentioning them.

But in fact, he deeply loved his father and mother, wishing them to spend more time with him.

Unfortunately...

Poor child. A sense of pity welled up in Naoki's heart.

Hearing his words, Arven looked up at him.

Beside him, Professor Sada also showed a smile.

"Arven has always been very sensible. My husband and I, because of work, have no time to care for him. He has lived alone since a very young age."

Arven lowered his head again, silently sipping juice without speaking.

"Woof woof!" Mabosstiff beside him barked twice.

Professor Sada added, "Oh, and Mabosstiff accompanies Arven in his life."

Naoki nodded but said no more, listening as Professor Sada recounted his encounter with Koraidon:

"That night, it suddenly appeared in the ranch; because it was injured, I, along with Cyclizar, brought it back to the house, treated it with Berries and medicine, and since then, it stayed, living with us."

"During this time, has it shown any aggressiveness or anger?"

Naoki thought back carefully and shook his head: "No, it has always been well-behaved."

Recalling how Koraidon blasted fish with its powerful moves, he couldn't help but smile: "It also helps me work in its own way, though sometimes it's a bit heavy-handed, using its best moves to help me catch fish."

Professor Sada: "..."

Imagining the scene, she suddenly felt incredible.

Professor Sada looked thoughtful.

Moments later, she turned to see Koraidon resting not far away, pretending to nap while actually keenly aware of the surroundings.

Its strong body, crimson skin, flamboyant, imposing whiskers, and large, heavy paws...

Everything appeared identical to the Koraidon they later summoned.

Is it because it knows this rancher saved it, forming a bond with him?

Beyond this, Professor Sada couldn't think of any possibilities.

After pondering for a while, Professor Sada pulled out a somewhat outdated phone from her lab coat pocket.

She told Naoki, "Please wait a moment, I want to communicate with my husband, Professor Turo."

Naoki nodded slightly, "Okay."

Professor Sada went outside, standing on the ranch grass as she dialed the phone.

Inside the house, only Naoki and Arven remained.

Looking at the unfortunate boy with such a tragic life, Naoki couldn't help but say, "Your name is Arven, right?"

Arven withdrew his gaze from his mother's back and replied sullenly, "Yes."

Following his gaze, Naoki said, "Your mother is an amazing person to have developed something like a Time Machine. Have you ever fantasized about traveling to the distant past and future?"

Arven looked down at Mabosstiff beside him, sounding a bit depressed: "That's their wish."

At this moment, Professor Sada ended the call and returned inside.

After brief communication with her husband, they decided, after careful consideration, to let Koraidon stay here.

Professor Sada glanced at Koraidon, then said to Naoki, "Naoki, I'll leave Koraidon in your care."

It seemed they had already discussed and agreed on this.

Naoki nodded, "I will."

Professor Sada continued, "Do you have contact information? Let's exchange! If anything happens to Koraidon in the future, or if you need any help, feel free to contact me. I'd also like to learn more about Koraidon from you."
