Chapter 17 - 17

Chapter 17: The Hand of Sin

"Uh… do you know me?" Mo Fei looked at the only Chinese girl in the trio of beautiful girls, startled.

"It's me, Alex!" The girl pointed to herself happily, "In elementary school, we were deskmates for half a year."

Seeing Mo Fei still looking bewildered, Alex added, "It was when a White male classmate confessed to me, and you even mocked me, saying, 'Even an ugly girl like me gets confessed to!' Remember that deskmate?"

As Alex said that, Mo Fei's memory unlocked, and he had a vague impression.

In his memory, this person was indeed his predecessor's deskmate, and he had even mocked her for being ugly when they were young.

"It's you! I remember now!" Mo Fei suddenly realized, saying happily, "You're that Alex, the one all the Chinese students in the class thought was ugly, but all the non-Chinese students thought was pretty!"

Alex: "..."

Do you know that you're the kind of person who easily gets beaten to death when you go out?

Alex's appearance indeed did not conform to Asian aesthetics, but it did conform to Western aesthetics.

Westerners generally prefer girls with high cheekbones, small eyes, freckles, and small frames.

When Mo Fei was young, he couldn't understand why the famous Chinese people in the U.S. were almost all incredibly ugly.

Although Mo Fei's words were not pleasant to hear, Alex was still very happy. After all, it was rare to meet an old classmate, especially one she had been deskmates with, and they had a good relationship back then. Their mutual teasing was just playful.

"We haven't seen each other in so many years, what have you been doing?"

"What else could I be doing? I inherited my family's medical clinic. What about you? Did you go out to make a name for yourself? If you were still in Chinatown, I wouldn't have seen you again for so many years."

Watching Alex and Mo Fei suddenly chat, Natalie's mouth twitched. She cautiously tugged at Alex's clothes.

Alex then realized that now was not the time for reminiscing; there was still an unresolved matter here!

Mo Fei also realized, his face sinking, "Alex, although we are old acquaintances, the matter of my granduncle being hit can't just be let go!"

"Of course, of course! This matter will be resolved however it should be, and we will absolutely not shirk responsibility!" Alex quickly said.

"That's good!"

Mo Fei nodded in satisfaction, then squatted down to check the Old Beggar's injuries, and handed Alex a business card, "My granduncle's leg, well, it's probably broken, no doubt about it! Given how familiar we are, you can just compensate him a few thousand U.S. dollars!"

As Mo Fei spoke, he extended his Hand of Sin, constantly searching the Old Beggar's body.

Last time, the Old Beggar had dropped a very good Xing Yi Quan manual. He wondered if the Old Beggar had any other treasures on him.

With Xing Yi Quan, he wouldn't mind a bit of Tai Chi or Baji Quan either.

The Old Beggar got goosebumps from being touched and quickly moved to stop Mo Fei's wandering hand, "Grandnephew, actually, Granduncle is fine. Since it's your old classmate, let's just let this matter go today!"

"Granduncle, you underestimate me too much. Am I, Mo Fei, the kind of person who forgets righteousness for beauty? Don't say anything about this matter today; I'll definitely arrange everything clearly for you!"

Although the old man's hands were very fast, he was still in character, with a broken leg, and thus restricted. He couldn't outmatch Mo Fei's powerful arm for a moment.

Mo Fei searched and searched, very disappointed. There were no more paper-like items on the Old Beggar. He only found a black wallet and a box of Romeo y Julieta cigars.

"Thank you!" Although there were few items and no treasures, Mo Fei, who had been influenced by socialist values since childhood, still politely smiled at the Old Beggar, a very warm smile, and then… he took off running.

The Old Beggar sat on the ground, stunned for a long time, before suddenly realizing and letting out a sharp wail, "Damn you to hell!"

"You little rascal, you dare to steal even my money, an old man's money!"

The Old Beggar no longer cared about Alex and her group of women. He immediately jumped up and chased after Mo Fei as if his life depended on it.

Don't let the Old Beggar's age fool you; he was still strong and vigorous. Wherever he ran, it was like a whirlwind passing through, not much slower than the young Mo Fei.

Natalie stared dumbfounded at the Old Beggar and Mo Fei, who were running for their lives, "What's going on with them? Isn't that old man his granduncle?"

"Can't you tell? That beggar was trying to extort you guys, and the young man is helping you!" A bystander laughed.

"No wonder the three of us couldn't budge him!" Dylan suddenly realized.

"So that's it." Natalie breathed a sigh of relief, "Alex, thank goodness your old classmate helped us today, otherwise we would have had a hard time explaining ourselves."

"Let's invite him to dinner sometime!" Alex looked at the business card in her hand and smiled.

"But Alex, your old classmate is quite handsome, aren't you two…" Dylan smiled suggestively.

"Stop joking." Alex smiled helplessly, "Didn't you two hear just now? My appearance actually doesn't conform to Asian aesthetics. Back then, all the Chinese classmates in our class actually thought I was ugly! And Mo Fei was a campus heartthrob back then. Even when we were in elementary school, he never lacked girlfriends. How could he possibly be interested in me?!"

"No way?" Dylan was greatly surprised and quickly pulled out a small mirror to reapply her makeup, "Then what about me, Alex? Do I also not conform to your Chinese aesthetic?"

"Is the little minx in heat again?" Alex lifted Dylan's chin and smiled, "Your looks are not bad, but you're a bit chubby. There's a saying in China—'One fat, ruins all.' If you lose some weight, you still have a lot of hope."

"But Mo Fei is very fickle. His girlfriends never last more than three months."

"Where are there men who aren't fickle these days? But as long as your charm is enough, there's no man you can't win over! He's so handsome, you could try to develop something!" Dylan said, full of romantic interest.

"Good luck to you!" What else could Alex say?

She didn't think Mo Fei would abandon his principles for Dylan, who had a crush-prone personality.

Simps don't get a house!

...Mo Fei was panting, his lungs feeling like they were about to burst. That old guy, despite his age, was truly an old warhorse, running like the wind.

If it weren't for his youthful vigor, he might have actually been caught by that old guy.

Damn it, that old guy even smokes limited edition Romeo y Julieta cigars?

I've never smoked such good cigarettes!

"I wonder how much money that old guy put in his wallet?"

Mo Fei rubbed his hands with a smile, feeling a thrill like looting a corpse, and opened the Old Beggar's black wallet.

There were over three thousand U.S. dollars in cash!

He took the cash and threw away all the other documents inside. Who told that old guy to keep trying to scam people?

Mo Fei was simply acting on behalf of heaven.
