Liam's POV

The glass bottle struck the mahogany surface with a sharp crack, landing mere inches from his trembling fingers.

"Christ," Ryan whispered, instinctively jerking his hand away from the impact.

"Keep those fucking hands exactly where they are," I snarled through clenched teeth. My eyes dropped to the fresh gouge marring the pristine wood surface.

The bottle remained intact. My desk bore the damage.

Damn it all to hell. This desk held significance beyond its monetary value. I had envisioned bringing Vivian here, pressing her against this very surface while I claimed her from behind, watching her unravel beneath me.

Perhaps this destruction wasn't entirely unwelcome. I would commission a replacement, something even more magnificent. And we would consecrate that one properly.

This worthless bastard had already defiled it with his muddy soles anyway.

"I was simply attempting to—"
