The Spring Festival continued in full swing, and Aiko found herself tugging Ren toward the game stalls. Colorful prizes hung from the booth walls, and the cheerful shouts of students filled the air.
"Come on! You have to try the ring toss," Aiko said, excitement sparkling in her eyes.
Ren raised an eyebrow, smirking. "Are you trying to challenge me?"
"Maybe," she admitted with a mischievous grin. "I bet I can beat you!"
They started at the ring toss, each taking turns. Aiko missed her first two tries, giggling nervously. Ren effortlessly landed a ring on the third attempt, but he didn't gloat. Instead, he leaned over slightly, whispering, "You'll get it next time."
Flushed, Aiko focused hard, finally landing a ring on the last try. "I did it!" she cheered, holding up the small stuffed bunny prize.
Ren smiled warmly. "See? I knew you could."
Next, they tried the fishing game. Aiko's small net missed every time, and Ren chuckled softly. "You're trying too hard."
"I am not!" she protested, pouting playfully.
Ren leaned closer to help guide her hand. Their fingers brushed, and Aiko felt her cheeks heat instantly. "Thanks… I think I need all the help I can get," she admitted, laughing softly.
"You're amazing," Ren said, handing her a little goldfish prize from the game. "Not just at games."
Aiko's heart skipped. "Y-You think so?"
He nodded, eyes meeting hers with a warmth that made her stomach flutter.
The afternoon continued with laughter, playful teasing, and small moments of closeness. At the food stall, they shared a crepe, each taking turns feeding the other. Aiko's giggles were infectious, and Ren couldn't help but smile every time she laughed.
By the time the festival lights began to twinkle and music floated through the evening air, Aiko and Ren walked home together, quiet but comfortable. Their hands occasionally brushed, and neither seemed in a hurry to pull away.
Aiko thought to herself, These little moments… I could get used to this. With him.
Ren, walking beside her, had similar thoughts, quietly cherishing the warmth and joy of being with Aiko.
