Chapter 1 - Chapter 0 : Prologue of a new world

Arkyane. A city of technology, mixing mysteries and dangers, as large as a country like France. Militarily speaking, however, this city was not powerful. Although it possessed an army allowing it to ensure the internal security of its citizens, any attack from another country would in theory be fatal… However, all of this is only theory. Reality is, in fact, quite different. Protected by an "anomaly", Arkyane easily rose to the rank of an impenetrable city… Anomalies in this world, however, are rare, but extremely dangerous… Numerous studies carried out on them have allowed scientists to create various objects and weapons functioning through a strange technology, impossible to replicate by other states…

But nothing can be perfect, and nothing ever will be.

Arkyane's anomaly, named "Life Conjurer."

This anomaly's purpose is to manage populations, but also to decide who has the right to live or die, becoming both a blessing and a curse for the unlucky. Although Life Conjurer is largely controlled by the forces of the ARD (Advanced Research Department), certain "errors" sometimes occur... People die inexplicably even though they are healthy, while others rise from death, their decomposing bodies coming back to life as zombies… In such situations, the armed forces then take on their full meaning. Intervening quickly where the dead rise, their task is to send them back to the afterlife as quickly and efficiently as possible, by any means necessary…

And what if everything could change…?

Despite this near utopia, some then began to doubt the practices of the ARD and the policy in place… Should it remain as it is? Should the anomaly simply be eliminated so that everyone could live without risking a moment of misfortune and simply die? That was the main question asked by our dear protagonist… Named Almya, the young woman was part of the ARD's extermination forces, acting directly on the field. In her special suit, she was just a soldier among hundreds of others, blending into the crowd… And yet, among these "fanatics" blindly obeying orders, she was one of the future last survivors…

That thing should have died a long time ago…

On the eve of December 25, a major event then shook the world… The city of Arkyane, overnight, stopped responding to the various messages from other countries, while the lights went out… Only silence and darkness reigned, the concern quickly growing among the leaders of the international congress… A decision was then quickly made: the city of Arkyane had to be monitored, this unusual lack of response being more worrying than anything else. Drones and satellites began to monitor the city constantly, while the armies remained on alert, ready to intervene at the slightest suspicious movement from the city… Inside the city, no one moved anymore… Many stood up, lifeless, others, behind the wheel of their vehicles, crashed violently, finding a "second death"…

The anomaly had succeeded in doing the only thing that no one thought possible in its state… It had freed itself from the restrictions put in place and was acting on its own will… Or at least, within Arkyane only. The dome that had been created decades ago restricted it enough to prevent a global catastrophe in such a situation. Despite the large number of deaths, a handful of people seemed to have survived… Simple luck? A selective choice by the anomaly? Or just an entertainment it gave itself? No one really knew for the moment, although one thing was certain — escaping the city was impossible considering the situation…
