The house was eerily quiet.
But I wasn't afraid. I have gotten used to it over the years.
I walked into my room, dropping my backpack onto my reading table.
I looked towards the bedstand where my phone laid. I had left it in a hurry on my way to school. It was switched off from last night's surfing. I picked it up and plugged it into the nearby socket and waited.
At 10%, my fingers flew all over the screen, logging into my WeChat account then proceeded to the fan page where I was a co-admini.
Messages about Dirk coming to Guix City were all over the page.
My heart thudded in my chest as adrenaline rushed through me.
One particular message stood out. It was updated 30 minutes ago. Dirk had a performance later that evening.
My heart raced faster as I read the time and address, one of the elite clubhouse.
I have never been to a clubhouse before and never fancy the idea of being in one but this is about Dirk. Besides this is like my one in a one in a billion chance of meeting Dirk.
I curl my lip in a grin as I liked the message.
Without hesitation I walked into my closet in search of a dress just right for the party. I needed to be noticed by him and the right dress would help with that.
I frown when I see none that seem suitable. Yes I wanted to stand out but I didn't want to go there appearing like a nun. That wasn't the sort of 'stand out' I needed.
Just as I slumped on my bed in defeat, Aria's name came into my mind.
Without any more thoughts, I dial her number. She picked on the second ring.
"What?" Her bored tone peered through the phone.
"I need your help."
"I know. With…? Be quick"
"I need a dress."
"What for? Don't tell me Dad has cut off your allowance again. What did you do?" The shuffling sound of Aria moving was heard.
"Relax…I just need the dress for Dirk concert." She paused for one, two seconds then
"Autumn are you crazy? Do you have any idea about what you're saying?"
"Yes, I know. But…"
"No, no. I am not helping you with that, young lady. If Dad learns that I aided you in this madness, I'm as good as dead. You won't be escaping either. Listen I don't want to be involved…bye" she rant on voice void of the boredom she expressed earlier.
"Wait!" I called out urgently, afraid she would end the call.
"Dad's not around; he's away on a business trip, a week long. He left two days ago…. So would you please help your lovely cousin, please? Besides, you have to make up for bullying me earlier."
"Oh, pleaseee, that wasn't bullying. I was teasing you…" I wanted to scream 'you took it far' but she beat me to say "What about your guards?"
"Dad left only one with me. We can lose him."
"What about Bryce?" she asked. I always do everything with him.
"He doesn't have to know."
"…Okay, fine. I'll be coming over at 6:00pm." Click. And the call ended.
"Yeah." I bumped by fist in the air. The night was going to be a long one, probably the most memorable one of all.
However my phone rang at that point, interrupting the moment. Beads of swea
t formed on my forehead when I saw the caller name on the screen…
