Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: The Circle

Feeling his body change by the seconds, Rudra slowed his breathing to match he rhythm of Spiritual power moving inside his body. This was the first time that he could feel his heart moving the spiritual power inside his body. Up until now, if Rudra needed to use the spiritual power, he had to move the spiritual power on his own. This feeling was a little alien for Rudra, but his body got quite comfortable with it in just a few minutes.

'This is it, just a little more. I cannot lose focus at this critical juncture.' Rudra thought as he could feel the Spiritual power starting to surge inside his heart. Just like the ocean waves, the power was slamming into Rudra's heart. Rudra knew very well that if he were to get distracted or disturbed in this moment, he would suffer through a backlash. Such backlash was very dangerous at this point, as he might even die if the spiritual power started running wild in his body.

'Yes, this is it. This feels like the same circle that was drawn in the books.' Rudra exclaimed, he was finally feeling the circle being built around his heart. By using his senses, Rudra could feel the exact outline and design of the circle being built in his body. The circle that was being created in his body had texts and symbols; he didn't know what the texts or the symbols meant, but he was sure of one thing that they were really ancient.

According to some texts, these types of texts and symbols appear in different forms for anyone who uses spiritual power. The entire world, in one way or another, had seen these things, which is why many people spend their lifetime studying them. However, they still had no idea what these texts or symbols were meant to represent. This was a great mystery of the world that many people couldn't wrap their brains around. Even for Rudra, who had seen and felt these ancient texts, he could tell that just the text and symbols held immense strength and mystery. When he tried to analyze those symbols, he felt like he was just an insignificant being.

'If possible, I really want to unravel the mysteries of this world.' Thought Rudra, as he felt a great sense of yearning, he was always the type of person who enjoyed and wanted to be adventurous. So, this mystery just felt like a challenge for him. Soon, while thinking about the symbols, the circle was completed. As soon as the circle was complete, Rudra suddenly felt as if his body had lost more than half of the Spiritual power he had collected till now.

'I got scared for no reason at all.' Rudra heaved a sigh of relief as he was soon able to find out the reason behind the spiritual power disappearing. At first, he thought that the spiritual power got used up creating the circle; fortunately, that was not the case, as it seemed like the circle acted as a container and was storing the power inside itself. Just for a second, his heart had dropped to the floor when he thought he might have to gather all of the power again.

"Does that mean that the tribulation is finally over? I advanced to the first circle, so it should be over, right?" Rudra said as he expected to see slowly opened his eyes, to his disappointment, nothing changed; he was still inside the jungle. This could only mean one thing: there were more goblins inside the forest whom he had to slay before he could leave the forest. Rudra felt a little disappointed; however, it didn't even last for seconds as he remembered the circle he had created.

"Let's check out what I can do exactly with this newfound power of mine. Although I might just be able to perform just some basic magic, even that might be of help to me right now," Rudra said as he got up from the stone. Rudra knew there might be more dangerous situations in front of him, so if he wanted to survive his plight, he needed to do everything in his power just so he could survive, even if that meant learning basic household magic.

In this world, if a mage wanted to learn new skills, spells, magic, or anything of that sort. They would have to learn it from books, special items, or by researching it themselves. Researching a new type of magir or even an existing one, for Rudra, who didn't have any knowledge or time, was impossible, nor did he think about the other options. So, he was only left with one option, which was trying to learn household magic by himself. While living in the orphanage, Rudra had seen the sisters use basic magic. Even though he didn't know anything about the fundamentals, he still thought he should give it a try because those magic spells were nothing complicated, according to the Sisters.

"First, I need to gather the mana in my hand. After that, I will have to try to connect to the spirit of whatever magic I want to use." Rudra recited as he began doing those exact things; according to what the sisters said, there were many spirits present in the environment. Like the fire spirits, water, earth, wind, etc, if you wanted to use the power of any of these spirits, one would have to connect to them first. The method of connection was, he had to spread his spiritual power to the surroundings, as you prayed to the spirits. If the spirits like you, they would be attracted to you by themself and gather around you.

For a few minutes, Rudra did exactly what he knew; soon, he was able to see a lot of bulbs of lights coming towards him. Rudra was able to see the lights because he was using his special vision; from what he knew, most people only felt the presence of the spirits.

"The easy part is over; now begins the hard part," Rudra said as he looked at the blobs of light that had started dancing around him. He fell silent as he fell into deep thought; this was because of the next part of the process. This time, he needed to choose the spirit he wanted to build his connection with.

"Why are there so many spirits here? On top of that, I can only choose one of them for now. Isn't it supposed to just be 3-4 types of spirits?" Rudra asked himself out of frustration because he had too many options to choose from. He knew that only 3-4 elements of spirits should gather around him; however, there were just too many around him right now. The worst part was that even if he wanted to connect with two, he wouldn't be able to, as it would be too time-consuming. Time was the one thing Rudra didn't want to waste, so he started going through the spirits as quickly as he could.

"Wait, I think this would be the best option for me right now." Said Rudra as excitement was clearly visible in his eyes, he was looking at a particular element spirit. The spirit was that of a lightning element type.
