There was no plan.
Goblins just ran forward, screaming and flailing their weapons around. Row after row of green soldiers. It was chaos.
"HOLD THE LINE" Tav was continuing the same command.
The soldiers were standing still, waiting for the horde to arrive.
From the distance they looked steady and brave. Unwavering.
But they knew better. Trembling and sweating all around, born from fear.
Or worse.
Born from excitement.
And this time Adam was not the only one.
Every squad had someone like this. The 41st squad of diligent large men had one guy with a shield and a sword somehow, the bald guys had one with some actual hair and a blade twice as big, and 36th squad had someone small with 2 blades.
The weird ones.
'Come on, come on. ' Adam was fixing his grip and his stance all this time.
And when the enemy entered the melee range.
"STRIKE THE ENEMIES" Tav, Marcus and 2 other squad leaders shouted out at the same time.
Swords went up, and instantly down.
And when they did, their edge was met by the edge of their enemies.
"Huh" The human soldiers were stunned by this. These weren`t organized goblin soldiers, just some random monsters, running in a blood lust charge blindly.
37th squad started to be pushed back by the horde.
Spears and swords and maces...they were too many, too different, some heavy some light...Defending against them was hard and tiring.
"Tsk. BACK. START BACKING UP" Marcus started to command
"NO" commander tav screamed from his squad "HOLD POSITIONS"
Adam had no hesitation which command to follow as he went to the flank of his squad and started to chop up the goblins even faster than before.
One after another, swing and thrusts. Each of his attacks made a goblin into a corpse.
His squad had some relief, and also picked up the pace. Bodies were kicked left and right, or trampled by the new goblins. 20, 40, 60 of them made piles and pools of their insides.
As the horde`s attack slowed down, the counter begun.
"FORWAAAARRRRDDDD" Tav raised his blade
"AAAAHHH" all the soldiers screamed and started to push the other way.
The freaks of the squads laughed instead of screaming and charged forward.
Great sword broke through the goblins, 2 swords killed twice as fast and the shield could bash through them easily. Adam with his lighter load out, could avoid and slash enemies with ease. And it was just getting started
The four of them went deeper into the horde, slashing around and thrusting in front.
Squads slowly came after them, getting rid of the remaining monsters on their way.
'YES. YES. YEESSSSS' as more and more goblins fell, the faster his heart was beating.
This was one of the first time in a long while that Adam had truly fun. The boring student life of an IT major, not the apocalypse time in the country not even the first time he killed the monsters. Then he was weak. angry and scared to add up.
But now?
He could cut all he wanted without getting tired imidietly.
With some ,even slight, swordsmanship skills the fights were ending fast, but there were so many to begin now.
Not slowed down by his armor.
"adam"
Not slowed down by himself
"Adam!"
And not slowed down by others, he was free
"ADAM!!" Marcus shouted to him for the third time
As he was standing around a group of dead monsters, he was still swinging his sword and looked pretty crazy.
"GET BACK"
"yea yea yea , shut up please. I`m having fun over here" Adam just gave him a side eye, but turned at him after a while of ignoring.
"NO GET BACK, LOOK BEHIND YOU" He had to shout from the distance yet he was still barely understandable.
'Hmm?' and he did turn around, just in time.
To see the large monstrosity charging at him, holding a spear many times larger than normal and a flag that could cover a building.
"DUAAAETGHGHH" as the giant goblin ran, the sound of its voice was muffled by the breaking of its comrades bodies under his feet.
"HOLY S**T" And Adam started to run towards his squad.
thankfully, there were not many goblins left and he could just dodge them
"F**K YOU DOING ADAM" Marcus and the squad started to run away from him
"NO, BRING HIM HERE" Tav shouted to Adam, and pointed to the other giant goblin and the shielded soldier. The guy had troubles with holding the big guy off, but he didn`t have a shield for nothing.
*Adam nodded* and turned towards them.
The big guy slowly made a turn and followed him, getting closer to catching him
*pants and catching breath* Adam maybe had a lighter armor, but still. Running full speed is something else.
2 bladed soldiers came in, and killed any remains of the goblin horde in front of him, just like the big sword even further.
"HEY. Green s**t, OVER HERE" when he ran close enough, he started waving to the other goblin with a large smile on his face
"GRHHGHH" it turned around, ignored the shield and went to crash Adam instead.
*chuckle* and when they were close enough, he just slid underneath him.
*BONK* the 2 running masses of goblin flesh smashed into each other, and very nicely hitting their heads on each other.
1st giant "HRNNNGH" with a low rumbling grunt
2nd giant "SKRAAAAH" with definite sharp voice and definitively annoyed
with a heave THWACK the 2nd one hit the 1st on the head and then simply pointed at Adam
"KRIRRRLLLLL"
"ORAAAAAAGHGHAAA" and they both grinned lightly and turned back to the small human in front of them.
"Hey.....guys." Adam turned to the other weirdos "Help"
