Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Qin Guangyuan's Heartbeat

"Dad, let's go find an advertising design shop now and get this exterior design printed out."

"Print it to seven meters by five and a half meters, then prop it up and hang it at our entrance. It'll say 'Villa Renovation Preview'!"

Qin Feng suggested.

Qin Guangzhi didn't even think about it this time and replied straightforwardly:

"Alright! You call the shots."

By this point, Qin Guangzhi had already decided to fully follow Qin Feng's arrangements.

His son must have his reasons for doing this—no need to question it.

He was already starting to feel that Qin Feng was more capable than him.

On his own, he could never have lived in a castle-like house like the ones seen in movies, not even for a single day in his lifetime.

But Qin Feng was going to build their own house like this, allowing him to live in such a place every day from now on!

...

...

At the entrance of Qin Feng's house.

Qin Feng and Qin Guangzhi first chose a spot to set up two posts, then propped up the printed poster measuring seven meters long and five and a half meters wide.

While the two were busy with this, their neighbor, Qin Guangyuan, happened to step out.

"Oh, Guangzhi, Qin Feng, what are you two up to?"

Qin Feng fastened the top right corner of the poster with a wire before replying:

"We're preparing to renovate our house."

"Once the old house is torn down and before the new one is built, we won't really have a fixed place to stay."

"So I thought of hanging up a preview of the new house. We can look at it in our free time—first, to give ourselves something to look forward to, and second, to have a sense of stability in our hearts."

Qin Guangyuan, who had previously worked on construction sites, knew that real estate developers put up preview posters of residential complexes even before construction began.

He'd also heard that developers did this to boost pre-sales before the buildings were completed.

But he never expected Qin Feng to adopt this approach for a self-built house in the village.

"Well, that's quite unusual."

"This is the first time I've heard such an idea."

"Developers hang preview posters to sell apartments, but you're doing it to have a sense of stability."

"Can't you feel stable when laying the foundation and building the house? The land isn't going anywhere, and the bricks will be laid one by one. Can't you find hope and stability in watching that?"

"Do you really need to put up a preview poster to see it?"

Qin Feng chuckled but didn't respond, thinking to himself:

"Of course, that's just an excuse I came up with. The real reason is to show it off, to make you all envious and jealous!"

As he spoke, Qin Guangzhi also secured the corner on his side and said to Qin Feng, "Alright, both top corners are fixed now. Let's unfold the blueprint."

"Sure thing!" Qin Feng responded, and the two began slowly lowering the preview image.

When the preview was fully unfolded, Qin Guangyuan was left utterly stunned!

"This... this... this is the preview of your new house? Your new house is going to be built like this?"

It took Qin Guangyuan a long moment to snap out of his daze and voice his disbelief.

Seeing Qin Guangyuan's stunned, shocked expression and hearing his incredulous tone, Qin Guangzhi felt an immense sense of satisfaction. At that moment, his vanity was greatly fulfilled:

"Exactly! My new house is going to be built just like this. Honestly, I feel like the house is just too big. Look at how many rooms there are—it's going to feel so empty. The thought of spending the rest of my life in such a vast, empty house makes me a little uneasy."

Though his words suggested modesty, the corners of his mouth, which were harder to suppress than an AK-47, betrayed his true feelings.

Meanwhile, Qin Guangyuan was screaming internally:

"If you think it's too empty, move out! Let me live there! I wouldn't mind the emptiness!"

And just then, Qin Feng added fuel to the fire:

"It won't feel empty, Dad. We'll hire a housekeeper in the future. Otherwise, cleaning such a big house ourselves would be exhausting. With a housekeeper around, the place will feel livelier and won't seem so empty."

Qin Guangyuan's internal screaming intensified:

"What?!"

"Forget about living in a house as grand as a castle, but you're even hiring a nanny?"

"You really think you're an emperor, huh?!"

Looking at Qin Guangyuan's expression at that moment,

Qin Feng seized the perfect moment to "enlighten" him:

"Ah, spending money earned from online loans is just so satisfying."

"When buying a car and building a house, there's not a hint of heartache."

"It's as if this car worth over a million and this luxurious villa were picked up for free!"

Qin Guangyuan left with a heavy heart.

But Qin Feng grinned slyly:

"Hehe, Uncle Guangyuan is definitely starting to get tempted!"

As he walked away,

Qin Guangyuan kept muttering to himself:

"Good grief!"

"Building such a lavish house?!"

"Guangzhi's family used to be about the same as mine."

"But now, I'm watching Qin Feng drive a car worth over a million and build such an impressive house."

"And what about my family? We're still in that old house. Just recently, the east room started leaking... I haven't even saved enough for my second child's college tuition yet."

"Everything Qin Feng's family has now is because of those online loans..."

"Maybe I should give it a try too?"

"Not for anything else, but at least for the kids..."

Qin Guangyuan had already started finding reasons to convince himself.

...

Just as Qin Feng and Qin Guangzhi finished hanging up the preview image,

Qin Feng received a phone call.

It was the truck delivering the materials, asking for the exact location at the village entrance.

Qin Feng quickly said he'd go meet them.

How could he miss such a perfect opportunity to show off?

And at this time of day, everyone was free, probably chatting at the village entrance.

When he arrived at the village entrance,

a group of elderly men and women were already gathered around, discussing the trucks parked there.

"Whose family is building a house?"

"My goodness, look at the amount of bricks and cement—this is going to be a two-story house!"

"Whose family is this? They're living the good life too!"

Qinjia Village was poor, really poor.

So poor that not a single household in the entire village had a two-story house.

A few families in the neighboring village had built two-story houses, making them green with envy.

When they ran into people from the neighboring village, they couldn't help but feel a sense of inferiority... because their village was clearly poorer.

Now, their village was about to have a two-story house too.

The villagers felt a sense of shared pride, but also a tinge of jealousy.

"Master, over here!" Qin Feng waved to the lead worker, calling him over.

The worker immediately signaled for Qin Feng to lead the way while they followed.

The elderly villagers at the entrance, seeing this scene, quickly crowded around Qin Feng:

"Qin Feng, are these supplies for your family?"

"Qin Feng, is your family renovating the house?"

"You've bought so many bricks, cement, and steel bars... Is your family building a two-story house?"

"My, Qin Feng, your family is about to have the first two-story house in our village!"

Qin Feng smiled and replied:

"Not two stories—three stories."

"And this is just the beginning. This is only the first batch of materials. We'll need to order a second batch later, and it'll be even bigger than this!"

The villagers were shocked again:

"What?! A three-story house?! Goodness, that'll be the first three-story house in all the nearby villages!"

"Another batch? Even bigger than this?"

"A three-story house wouldn't need this many bricks, right? Qin Feng, are you being scammed?"

"Qin Feng, your uncle here has worked in construction—I know exactly how many bricks, how much cement, and sand are needed to build a house. If you're ordering this much just for three stories, you're definitely being cheated."
