Looking at the summoning altar, Sunny Heart couldn't help but try to shake the uneasy feeling that kept creeping onto him, like a shadow that refused to leave its owner.
Today was the day that all 17-year-old children worldwide got to summon their first beast. Through the summoning altar, but this was not as easy as just summoning a beast.
This also decided the fate of all of them, though their summoner. Those who summon lower than bronze rank know fully well that they can't rise above their peers. Even if they later got the privilege to summon another.
That was the reason they all prayed and begged whatever gods they served, before their name was called out. Not knowing that he was lost in his own thoughts for quite a while, Sunny's name was called twice before he blinked back to reality.
Raising his hand up shyly, while walking to the altar. Normally, this was a stage that everybody would most likely laugh at, but none dared to, not that they were scared or something. But they all were also passing their separate anxiety.
Walking onto the altar, palms sweaty, breath shaking, Sunny somewhat managed to calm down his racing heart while straightening up his back, looking at Sunny's clumsy behaviour, the instructor, who was giving instructions, couldn't help but shake his head a little.
Walk towards the glowing stone to your left. And place your hand on it, think about this process as breathing, your mind must be calm and steady, and the rest will take care of itself.
On hearing this, Sunny nervously walked towards the glowing stone, while placing his clumsy, trembling hand on its cool surface. Immediately, he felt a cooling sensation spread all over his body, and his breathing became calm and collected.
Eyes closed, breath steady, at this point, Sunny has unknowingly entered a state of mind alteration. And then the stone he placed his hand on flashed with a brilliant golden light that swallowed the whole arena, where the summoning awakening took place.
It was so bright that a golden pillar of light shot straight into the sky, which could be seen from miles away. And with each passing second the light grew more blindingly, which at a point almost all present had to close their eyes.
Only those who have passed the ream of summoner were unaffected by the light, but they all knew one thing, and that was. What fared them the most, the commotion of the summoning, could be bright and blinding. While the summon ends up being garbage.
And thus goes the other way around also, the commotion might be little while the summon ends up being powerful. It was things they had witnessed during their years of guiding the beast summon for all 17.
Looking at the light that was now dimming. Before completely vanishing, they all held their breath in anticipation of what was to come. Even Sunny couldn't help but once again become nervous as he stared at the glowing golden portal that shook and quivered.
Stepping out of the portal was a girl who was no older than 17, with golden hair that fell freely down her feet, bright pink eyes that added to her overall charisma. But one thing didn't stand out, and that was the tattered cloth she was wearing, it looked so torn and rough that it spoke otherwise.
And just then, the moment of truth was revealed, the gigantic screen right above everyone that was used to judge the level and race of the summon. Blinked brightly to live as everyone's attention was drawn towards it, even if it was still going to announce it loudly.
But they all couldn't stop, their curiosity at this point except for Sunny, whose eyes were on the girl. And then a robotic-like voice spoke in its usual emotionless voice. Sunny Heart has summoned an outcast slave angel, whose cultivation is half crippled.
Limiting the Angel grown in the future, rank uncommon. Which was only two levels above bronze, noting worth mentioning. Everybody wore a disappointed expression, but on all, some were simply happy while others felt bad for Sunny, since at least he would also become one of the community waste bins.
Nothing worth mentioning. As all eyes were now turned towards Sunny, who was still in a daze, looking at the angel in front of him. His face wore a bewildered expression, not from disappointment but from something else entirely.
Staring at the blinking screen at his front sunny saw all the information about his summon, which was supposed to disappoint him greatly, but that wasn't it. Displayed beneath the information was the evolution part of his summon.
Which means he was directly seeing how he can cure his summon injuries and also transform her into an epic or legendary grade. Was this his golden finger? Sunny taught as happiness crept toward him like an assassin lurking in one shadow.
This was something that could start a world war if revealed. Something that most will be more than willing to kill for, looking at her master who was staring at her blankly. She couldn't help but feel rejected once again, thinking that he was having a mental breakdown.
Due to how useless she was, tears streamed down her face, while quiet sobbing followed. Seeing this, Sunny immediately knew what was happening as he couldn't help but let out a dry chuckle. As he walked toward her.
No words were said, as Sunny gently grabbed hold of her hand while leading her down the summoning altar. So the summoning could continue, which it did immediately, he came down from the altar.
Approaching the crowd, they all parted ways for Sunny naturally. As various kind of emotions was shot at him, but Sunny cared less for things like this. He knew exactly why they were all acting like this to him. But he was too lazy to explain, or rather, couldn't explain it at all.
Waking away from the summoning ceremony while holding his summon, Sunny stopped a cab while answering the necessary information that was needed. As the cab door automatically opened, both Sunny and his summoner entered the cab.
With no words spoken, even when the driver tried to start a conversation on seeing Sunny summon, but Sunny just totally ignored him. Reaching their destination, which was a remote area, Sunny paid the bargained price while stepping out of the cab with his summons.
What's your name or do you even have one? Sunny asked as they continued the journey on foot towards his apartment, which they got to in no time, I don't have one she said as Sunny unlocked the door.
After they were both inside, the door shut and closed behind them as the sunny mood instantly changed into a bright smile. Immediately making his summon to be confused, wasn't her master supposed to be sad and angry that he summoned such a useless summon?
Then why was he smiling? Looking at her confused expression, Sunny couldn't help but smile even broader as he reviewed her status once again.
