Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

"What?" the female guard asked shakily.

"You're new here and I heard the starting salary my father gave you was spent on taking care of your sick mom." The young princess said and the female guard looked at her in bewilderment.

"I heard you say that there was a market that recently acquired an item that could cure even the most dire of illnesses so will the ten gold coins be enough?" the little Princess said tilting her head.

"How?" The female guard asked in shock before nodding repeatedly.

"Ye- Yes." the tower guard said, trying to stop herself from crying.

"Yes your highness." The tower guard said in a grateful tone.

"That's great then." the little Princess said with a smile that could light up the room.

"I wish your mother a speedy recovery." the young princess said with a slight bow to the female guard and ran away.

Stunned, the female guard kept looking at the spot the little princess had been standing.

"There is more to her than meets the eye huh?" the male guard said with a smile.

"You are new here so I don't blame you for having your reservations on the princess." the male guard said, leading the way downstairs.

"Once upon a time I too wondered why the young princess was so loved despite being at the forefront of one disaster or another." The male guard said, chuckling.

"But the more you stay here, the more you will realise that the princess is not how she is portrayed." The male guard said to the female guard with a smile.

"She takes care of people in a round about way and she is such a good listener despite being so young." said the male guard.

"I think the only reason why she is so destructive is because she doesn't have any friends." the guard said with a hum.

"Does she not have friends because she is not lady like?" The female guard asked and the male guard laughed.

"No, it's because she hasn't been introduced to high society yet." The male guard said as he made his way downstairs.

"Why hasn't she ?" The female guard asked in confusion.

"In Alvonia's customs, no royal child between the ages of one and seven are to be shown to their peers until the coming of age ceremony." said the male guard.

"This is to help them learn without bias and know how to carry themselves within society." the male guard said rounding a corner.

"Her one and only playmate which is her second sibling, just got transported to the academy that is why she has been terrorising the castle more often." the male guard said stretching.

"The little princess has boundless energy and her lessons are never enough to keep her occupied so we learn to indulge her from time to time" the male guard said smiling, unware that the King had been listening to to their entire conversation.

From the minute the two guards stepped out of his study, the King had used his blessing to hear their conversation. The King had smiled fondly when he realised why Lune attacked the west tower and the King agreed that what made Lune naughty was her intuitive mind and her overwhelming energy. Mauling over what to do, the king ran through tutors in his head that could stimulate her mind and direct her energy into something more productive but as he ran over tutor over tutor he realised that he couldn't find one that could perfectly contain her energy.

The more the King thought about what to do the more his frown deepened and just when he was about to shelf the matter, his cup of water rumbled before him and a mirage of the queen appeared above the cup.

"What got you so bothered?" The queen asked and the King smiled.

"I am worried about Lune." The King said and the Queen defensive of her youngest child gave him a fierce look.

"Lune is perfect the way she is." The queen said giving the King a glare.

"I don't doubt that for a second." The King said with a laugh.

"But her energy is a little overwhelming."

Not wanting to upset his wife, the King looked at the mirage with a smile.

"So?" The King asked the Queen.

"When are you going to come back?" the King said in a soft voice.

"What?" the queen asked smiling.

"Do you miss me?." The queen asked teasingly.

"More than a fish loves water." The King said and the Queen awed.

"I have only been gone for a short while" The queen bashfully said before muttering "compared to you who spent a month on Pyrah!" the queen added with a scoff and the King blanched.

"It was an annual hunt to subjugate the monster waves outside the gates, I couldn't miss it even if I wanted to." the King said, trying to explain himself.

"Excuses!" The queen said with a huff and her nose in the air.

"Honey!" The King said stretching out the word.

"I will be back in two days and I think I have a cure to Lune's boredom." The queen said with a twinkle in her eyes.
