"Good afternoon, everyone at S.H.I.E.L.D."
"I'm Henry Stark."
"I know you're probably confused, angry, and scared right now. Your home is under attack, your companions are falling, and your commander is nowhere to be found."
"So, I'm here to give you an answer."
Inside the command center, Maria Hill was commanding the remaining troops to make the final resistance.
But when she heard the voice, her body shook violently!
It's him!
"All units! Don't listen to him! This is the enemy's psychological warfare!" she shouted into the communicator.
However, it was too late.
Henry's voice was clearly heard in every corner.
"Your director, Nick Fury, is dead."
"I killed him."
These plain words plunged the headquarters into silence in an instant.
All the agents who were still fighting stopped what they were doing and listened to the voice on the radio in disbelief.
The director is dead?
Fuck?!
The chief is dead?!
"I know it's hard for you to believe. You might think I'm an invader, a tyrant who kills innocent people."
"But, I have a question for you."
"Do you really understand the man you are loyal to?"
"Did you know that for the sake of his so-called safety, he reached a secret agreement with a shapeshifting alien race called the Skrulls? Do you know how many of your companions, whom you spend every day with, are actually aliens who can change their appearance at will?"
"Did you know that he used the Tesseract to develop weapons of mass destruction that could destroy the world under the guise of researching clean energy?"
"Did you know that to maintain his rule, he allowed the Skrulls' infiltration of S.H.I.E.L.D., and that Hydra still uses your companions for those inhumane human experiments?"
Every question Henry asked was like a heavy hammer, hitting the hearts of those SHIELD agents hard!
The anger and fighting spirit on their faces were gradually replaced by shock and suspicion.
They began to look around at their companions, with only suspicion a nd distrust in their eyes.
As Hill listened to the words on the radio, she felt her blood freeze.
The Skrulls?!
Project Pegasus?!
Hydra?!
All of these words touch upon S.H.I.E.L.D.'s darkest secrets!
Although Hill herself only knew one side of the story.
But, how could Henry know?!
"Enough!" She grabbed the communicator and roared hysterically.
"Cut off the broadcast! Quick! Cut it off!"
However, there was no response.
The command center's system has long been controlled by Jarvis.
"Nick Fury treated you as expendable pawns. He used lies and secrets to build a seemingly powerful empire. But today, that empire collapsed."
"Now, I give you a choice."
Henry's voice sounded again.
"Drop your weapons and get out of your cover."
"I, Henry Stark, and Stark Industries behind me, will officially take over S.H.I.E.L.D. I will eliminate all Hydras, all alien infiltrators, expose all secrets, and establish a truly transparent S.H.I.E.L.D. that truly exists to protect the world."
"We will have more powerful technology, stronger warriors, and a firmer faith."
"We will become the true guardians of the Earth."
"Of course," he said, a hint of amusement in his voice.
"You can also choose to continue working for your deceased director."
"In that case..."
"My friends will gladly send you to report to him in Hell."
"The choice is yours."
"I'll give you ten minutes."
After that, the radio fell silent.
But Trident headquarters is no longer peaceful.
Inside the underground vault.
Tony looked at Henry, and the corner of his mouth twitched.
"I have to admit, your speech was a little cooler than when I admitted I was Iron Man at the press conference."
He shrugged and continued complaining.
"But you said you were going to take over S.H.I.E.L.D.? Are you serious? Do you know what that means? It's a mess! It's a hundred times more annoying than those old guys on the Stark Industries board combined!"
"I know." Henry turned and looked at him, a relaxed smile returning to his face.
"So, this mess is left to you, Tony. You are the CEO, and you are good at dealing with this kind of bureaucratic mess."
"What?!" Tony's eyes widened instantly.
"Fuck! Henry Stark! Are you trying to put the blame on me again?!"
"How can this be called putting the blame?" Henry spread his hands innocently.
"That's called knowing people and using them wisely. You handle paperwork and meetings, and I handle fights and dealing with those disobedient guys. We two brothers have a clear division of labor and work together happily. How perfect is that?"
"Perfect, my ass! I won't do it!"
Seeing that the two brothers were about to start bickering again, Banner carefully raised the Tesseract in his hand.
Henry smiled; he was just joking.
"Um, Henry, Tony," he said seriously.
"About this stove, what are we going to do with it now? It seems to be getting hötter and hotter."
Everyone then noticed that the Tesseract in Banner's hand was emitting an increasingly strong light, and the surrounding space had begun to distort.
Henry and Tony looked at each other and put away their playful expressions.
"It seems that we have to start our plan early." Henry smiled slightly.
He turned around and looked at the SHIELD agents outside, who were still hesitating and struggling, and the voice sounded again through the radio.
"Oh, by the way, I forgot to tell you one thing."
"The main energy core of this headquarters beneath you has experienced a minor malfunction due to the battle just now."
"If it's not dealt with quickly, it could wipe all of Washington off the map in about nine minutes."
"Well then, fellow heroes of S.H.I.E.L.D."
"Now, it's time to make your choice."
Henry's voice died abruptly, leaving behind a dead silence and growing panic.
Nine minutes.
This number is simply a death warrant!
Inside the command center, Maria Hill felt her blood freeze.
She stared at the countdown on the main screen, and every beat of the numbers seemed to be beating against her heart.
The power core is about to melt down? You must be kidding!
The energy core of Trident Headquarters is the most stable in the world... well, one of the most stable!
And it imitates Stark Industries...
But, how is that possible...
Hill's mind flashed back to Henry's face, which always had a smile on it.
Could it be that he did it?
This thought popped up uncontrollably.
Not only did he destroy the energy shield and kill Director Fury, but now he wants to blow up the entire headquarters!
He is a complete lunatic!
"All units! Hold on! Don't believe his lies!" Hill grabbed the communicator and roared with all his strength, trying to stabilize the morale that was on the verge of collapse.
"This is the enemy's psychological warfare! Technical department, verify the status of the energy core immediately!"
However, her voice was pale and weak in the face of panic.
The agents are not fools.
Of course, they knew the stability of the energy core, but they also knew that nothing was impossible with the kind of attack just now.
What's more, aren't the secrets Henry Stark just revealed enough to prove everything?
Skrulls, teammates are aliens...
Is the director they serve truly a conspirator willing to secretly negotiate with aliens, even condoning their existence, for the greater good? Are there truly Skrulls among their companions, capable of changing their appearances at will?
Once the seeds of doubt are planted, they will take root and sprout at an astonishing speed.
The agents began to look around anxiously, looking at their comrades who had once been their trusted support, but now only suspicion and fear remained in their eyes. Trust was crumbling inch by inch.
"Report to the commander!" The technical department responded quickly, with a desperate tone.
"The temperature of the energy core is out of control! The cooling system has failed! We can't stop it! It is expected to reach the critical point in... eight minutes and twenty seconds!"
Boom!
This news was like the last straw that broke the camel's back, once again breaking the psychological defenses of everyone in the command center.
