Station (Year 2342)
CHARACTERS:
Captain Aryan (ARYAN): Mission Commander (Age 50s)
Divya (DIVYA): Diver / Pilot (Age 30s)
(The scene is the control room of the station. Blue light, huge screen shows deep space, in the middle of which a large, rotating Nexus Anomaly is seen.)
Captain Aryan (Into the microphone, voice stern) Divya, status at 'Nexus-Point 7'? Transmit the outer shield readings.
Divya (From within the diving pod, steady and assured tone) Aryan, I am at the 'Event Horizon' of the Nexus. Outer shield energy is 99% stable. It will be a smooth jump.
Captain Aryan I salute your confidence, but this isn't a 'jump', Divya. It is a dive. You are the first to navigate this unsteady hyperspace path. Even one missing piece of information can send us millions of light-years off course.
Divya (A hint of a smile, reaching out to the controls of the pod) That's why they refer to me as the 'Diver,' Captain. I'm going to reach a spot where no human has ever been. There is more wonder than fear.
(In the control room, Co-Pilot's voice is heard.)
Co-Pilot (V.O.) Captain, the Time-Distortion Engine of the diving pod is powering up. The 'Jump Window' will be open in four minutes.
Captain Aryan Four minutes! Divya, last bio-matrix check. Any unusual stress or bodily response?
Divya (Deep breath) Stable. My heart is pounding for a new universe. I am ready to leave.
(Outside Divya's pod, the Nexus starts spinning madly. A maelstrom of color and energy erupts on the outside screen.)
Captain Aryan (Closes his eyes, then opens them) Remember, Divya. Your task is not merely to alter a new course. You have to return safely with the boundaries of our solar system. You are bearing the responsibility of all of human history.
Divya (Pushes the pod ahead) To alter history, sometimes you must plunge, Captain. This is the leap of our generation.
Co-Pilot (V.O.) Three. two. one.
Captain Aryan (Nearly in a whisper) All clear. Dive, Divya!
(Divya initiates her main thrusters. The pod twirls rapidly and vanishes into the Nexus energy field. A blinding intense white light fills the screen, and then abruptly there is total silence. Only 'static' can be heard on the com line.)
Captain Aryan (Cool, but voice interrupted) Divya. Divya, answer. Are you in?
(A long pause. A mere hum of static. Captain Aryan gazes at the screen. And, over the static, the weak, faraway voice of Divya is heard.)
Divya (V.O.) (Laughing, voice echoing) Yes, Captain. I have descended. All. everything here. is white.
(The white glow on the screen grows brighter.)
