Chapter 9 - Surprised

Chapter 9

Catherine's POV

"Petals"

My throat went dry as my mind raced. What the hell was he doing here?

I turned to look at the peering eyes of Landon, as he made his way to sit beside me on the table.

"What are you doing here?" I asked him, looking between Raymond and Dalia, as they shot me knowing looks.

"Came to see you. Can we talk privately?" I squinted, as I watch him play with the gold bracelet on his wrist.

I nodded and gave a side glance to my friends, and they took the hint and stood up, leaving us alone at the library table.

"So, what's going on?" I asked again, going to the seat beside him.

"Well, I genuinely came to apologize for.. you know, the kiss I gave you forcefully"

I nodded my head, as my mind went back to the day he came crashing into me, and I let out my tongue, licking my lip. My eyes slowly went to him and I saw his eyes resting on me,

His eyes slowly looked back up at me, and for a moment it felt like the entire room was closing in on us.

He glanced at my lips, then at my eyes, bit his lips and looked away, clearing his throat. "So..uhm, are–are we good?"

I smiled, while he slowly glanced back at me, and his lips curved into a smile. "Sure. We are good"

With a slight nod, he slowly stood up and began packing my things into my bag without another word.

"What are you doing?" I stuttered, as he bound my hands together to keep them off my laptop and put the laptop into my bag.

"We, my love, are going to de-stress" I tilted my head upon hearing the word de-stress but apparently, he was living his best life, so I let it go.

"C'mon, sissy. Get that ass up" I groaned, letting out a small laugh and going after him, holding the hem of his hoodie.

We both stepped out of the library and immediately the once serene atmosphere was replaced by walking and talking students.

"So, what're we doing?" Without answering me, Landon engulfed my hand in his, and pulled me to my school's cab spot.

"Frosty" The word he told the driver before he pulled me into the car and we began driving out of the school compound.

"How did you navigate my school? Like how did you know I was in the library?" I asked, looking at the boy beside me who had his eyes closed as the wind blew through his dark brown hair.

I swear everything about him was brown. Even his skin, but it was a lighter shade of brown, almost like his eyes.

"Hmm..I came, asked around for two places that had solitude and boom! Found you on the first place I decided to look" He shrugged as our car came to a stop in front of the blue and white painted eatery.

Frosty had a history for always looking like their name. And everything, and I mean every single thing, was blue and white and had at least seventy percent ice frost coming off the head.

Let's not talk of their ice creams.

I began walking to the eatery, as the cab drove off, but the warm, soft hand of Landon, stopped me in my tracks.

"Huh?" Without a word, he began pulling me in the opposite direction of the eatery and I nearly groaned. "Where the hell are we going?"

Nothing.

There was pure silence among us except for the sound of twigs snapping and dried leaves scrunching under our feet. The atmosphere soon smelt like damp soil, as it had rained the previous day.

"Landon, I swear if this is a kidnap–" I bit my lips, cutting myself short as I heard the loud groan from the boy beside me, like I was boring him.

"Excus–"

"I swear, speak one more time, and you'd make that apology I gave go to waste" He spat, without even sparing me a glance.

I bit my lips, and decided to keep quiet for the rest of the walk. We finally arrived in the middle of the forest, rocks made the shape of a cliff and waters poured out of them like they were waterfalls.

The sun had seemingly become dim and the hot atmosphere was now cool, almost cold.

"Oh my God. How did you find this place? This is, I swear, I've never seen here before" I turned, looking around with my mouth the shape of an O.

I soon heard footsteps and I turned to see, but Landon was gone. I shook my head, my eyes wide with shock, as the cool atmosphere wasn't soothing anymore.

I felt cold run down my spine.

"Landon. Don't fuck with me" I screamed, but my voice bounced back to me from the abyss of the trees.

My body began feeling light, as I took in deep breath in short intervals but nothing was happening.

It felt like a plastic bag was over my head, and there was no escape.

I dug my nails into my thighs that was exposed from my shorts. I began feeling my skin hot against my blood–I swear I'll end Landon.

"Landon! This isn't funny. Seriously, Landon. Please" I began feeling hot tears on my face, as my entire vision began to blur and burn.

I tilted my head, as I heard the faint sound of footsteps and without another thought, I immediately ran to the direction I heard the footsteps.

"Landon?!" I screamed, as I ran through the woods, the sound of twigs snapping left behind me, and also the sounds of water clashing.

The trees began getting denser each second. I felt my legs go numb underneath me as I ran, and thanks to the messy soil due to the rain, I found myself in the thickness and coldness of water plus sand.

I felt my chest heave, and my forehead break into a sweat as I looked around, but my difficulty to breath only increased as I saw only dense trees and not even a bleak of sunlight.

I turned my head–another snap behind me, but this time, I didn't run blindly to the direction of the noise, until it became constant.

I tried settling my breath, as I turned slowly and I was gawking at the person in front of me. I slowly shook my head, as I heard some faint ringing in my ears.

"Don't–Don't fucking–"

My vision felt like it was being evaded by water–unclear and unfocused. The ground beneath me felt it was giving way for my body, and with one look at the drained face in front of me, I felt my body give up and my eyes go black, as the cold and muddy ground came in contact with my skin–thick and impure.

I couldn't handle this. Please let him be gone by time I'm up. Please.

Please.
