Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

The bright sun was glaring into my eyes, I could hear the chirps of the birds in the trees and the scent of the earth was so nice, wait...earth?

My eyes fly open as I take in my surroundings, where am I? What happened and how did I get here? I remember vaguely that I had slept in my bed as usual but this sure as hell wasn't my bedroom?

Panic started to grip me as I realised I had no idea where I was or how I got here. All I could see around me were trees and shrubs as far as I could see and I was still in my pajamas.

I get on my feet dusting off my pajamas and start looking around for something, anything to understand what is happening. Was this some kind of nightmare or a stupid prank my friends are playing on me?

No, thet wouldn't go to such stupid lengths to mess with me. I wanted to call out to anybody that might hear me and help me but I have read too many horror stories that I just know I would attract predators at most.

I just choose a direction and start walking to see where it takes me, being soft with my steps to not bring any attention to me in these dense woods. I just have to find my way out and that's all that matters right now.

I keep walking for what seemed like hours until I could hear faint sounds on water splashing. That's it! I will atleast not die out of dehydration now!

I start running towards the sound and see a clearing in front of me as my heart raced with anticipation and relief of finally finding water. I slow down as I get closer to the clearing and see the small waterfall and pool underneath it.

Seeing the clearing empty with no animals in sight I drop my gaurd and run to the water as I wash my face and taste the water. It was so sweet, even more so that I had been parched for hours.

I sit down underneath a tree by the clearing, now a little more hopeful. I still don't know how I got here or where 'here' even is but I'm just thankful I'm not mauled or dead by now.

My eyes start getting heavy under the constant, sweet chirping of the birds and insects and the cool breeze blowing with my under the shade of the tree and all the exhaustion of walking for so long was taking a toll on my tired and hungry body and I start drifting into sleep promising myself a short nap before I start searching for a way out again.

My eyes flutter open and I wake up with a lazy strech to ease my sore muscles. I hadn't woken up so refreshed in so long but it was time to go again. As I was prepping myself to leave I froze in place.

There were no forest noises anymore. The woods were completely quiet. Not a single bird call or insect chirp. Shit. I was too careless sleeping in the open in the wild. I stain my ears to catch any rustle or noise I can hear but all I hear is eerie unnatural, stillness of the woods.

Just when I was about to move I hear it. A soft crunch of leaves and my follow the sound. There it is. The biggest wolf I have ever seen or the only wolf I have I ever met yet standing and a few hundred metres away from me.

I had always been a wildlife enthusiast and a self proclaimed adventure seeker but this was the moment my life flashed before my eyes looking into the eyes of an apex predator out here in the open with nothing to protect myself with other than my own body which would not even leave a scratch on this creature staring me down.

This wolf was a good 6 feet tall and fucking massive with grey fur and amber eyes that looked like molten gold. If I wasn't in this shitty situation I would be absolutely mesmerized by this creature and probably gush about the beauty of nature for hours but oh my god I was going to die.

The wolf took a step towards me, ears flat and teeth bared emitting a soft growl that sent chills down my spine.

I was going to die.
