Evelin's POV

I gasped and grabbed Jimmy's arm, pulling him toward the sink. Cold water poured over his scalded hand as I twisted the faucet handle.

His skin was already turning angry red. That coffee must have been scalding.

"Any news about your brother?" he asked quietly.

I stared at him in disbelief. "The military found something, but your hand is what matters right now! You need to be more careful with hot drinks. Look at this - you're already getting blisters."

He glanced down at his injury. "What kind of lead did they discover? Do you think they'll locate your brother soon?"

"They recovered a military drone he operated years ago. The army's retrieving it now, but we won't know if there's useful intel until they analyze it. Still... something tells me I'm close to finding him," I explained.

His face went white, and when I held his hand under the running water, I felt it shaking.

"Is the pain bad?" I whispered.

"Would it bother you if I was hurting?" he asked.
