Chapter 2 - The Cursed One

For so many centuries, The world has been on a constant madness. Beings from the Darkness constantly tormented the weak creatures as the creatures of Light such as Humans, Elves, Dwarves and Beastkins fought back against those of the darkness.

With the blessing of The Divines, The Creatures of light were able to fend the creature of darkness for many centuries. But not even once did they manage to stop the war.

But then from the ancient past, a prophecy came. A prophecy from the First Hero who called himself "Kim" and is from unknown origins. The Hero, Kim, told a prophecy.

[ "In the Far Future, there will come a Hero who will rise from the ground and overcome the torments. That Hero will save everyone and end the Long Century of war and bring peace" ]

....I aspired to become that Hero as well.

When I was nothing but just a kid, I always aspired to become a hero like that. A hero who will overcome the darkness, so I trained really hard and studied really hard. I even earned the title of a prodigy because of that, and always lived up to my parents' expectations...but..

"YOU ARE [ CURSED ]!!!"

I listened to the cry of the bishop infront of me. Hearing him call me [Cursed]...I felt my heart shattering. My gaze was shaken as I stared at him, and then murmured filled the surroundings. I looked around and saw my peers who used to look at me as someone with dignity....now staring at me with gazes like.

Condemn, Fear, Mockery.

I had no idea what was going on. I heard about The [ Cursed ]. I read a story about them...after all, one particular [ Cursed ] also caused chaos in the empire thirty years ago.

I always thought that the [ Cursed ] are evil beings...and now, I am one of them as well.

Staring at the old Bishop whose expression was filled with rage, I didn't know what to do so...I bolted.

I had no idea why, but I felt that something bad will happen to me if I get caught. I jumped down from the altar as I ran towards the exit.

"CATCH HIM! HE MUST BE IMPRISONED!"

Cried out the bishop towards the teenagers gathered in the hall. However, instead of listening to the Bishop....some of my peers chose to avoid me instead as though I had plague. But some still tried to stop me.

"Sorry, But I must do this for me to get knighthood"

A commoner kid with Blue hair chose to stand infront of me, I remember his name...he was one of those kid with exceptional skills in the Academy. Lucas.

"Move"

I uttered to him in a hurried tone as I soon then halted my steps and raised my leg. I was not called a prodigy for nothing, taking down this guy will be a piece of cake for me. Seeing my raised leg, he hastily put up a guard by raising his forearms to block. Unfortunately for him, it was a feint.

I hastily put down my raised right leg as I zoomed closer to him and shoved him aside by pushing him and tripping him.

"Sorry, I cannot afford to get caught. Maybe next time you will get your knighthood"

I stared down at him as he just smiled. Then I bolted out of the Hall.

As soon as I was out of the Hall, I was greeted with a bunch of people...a knight was stationed outside and there are also parents. They all looked at me with surprised expression.

"Woah, The 3rd son of Enidryll has come out...what blessing did you receive?"

One of the nobility earlier who received their blessing approached me. It was Azriel Lauven 1st son of Marquis Lauven, The one who received the blessing of Argos...the God of Swords.

I had no time to converse with him so I just ignored him and ran towards the direction of my family carriage. He was surprised at my behavior and thought that I was being rude, others made way for me too, probably ignorant to what happened inside the Hall.

It did not take me long to arrive at my family carriage as I jumped inside immediately and told the coachman to ride back home.

"Sir Rauke, it is nice to see that you are in a good mood. May I ask what blessing you receiv—"

My Knight, Jamie. Knocked on my carriage window to ask me about the blessing again, but I discarded his question and just told the coachman and him to hurry.

"Sir Jamie, we must head back home right this instant."

Probably seeing the urgency in my tone, Sir Jamie just followed me without any question as the coachman then drove off.

As the Carriage was running back to the Enidryll County, I turned to look at the Sacred Hall and saw the Bishop talking to the guards stationed outside.

Fortunately, they just found out what happened inside. I heaved a sigh of relief as I awaited to reach back home.
