Chapter 278 - Chapter 278 Lions Den Confrontation

Ana's POV

I didn't want to keep talking to Morris. Yanking my hand free from his grip, I turned back to my computer screen.

"Go find something to do. I've got work to finish," I said without even glancing his way.

Morris's mouth pressed into a tight line, like he was choking back a dozen things he wanted to say.

But seeing me glued to my screen—clearly dead set on ignoring him—he swallowed whatever words were fighting to get out.

I caught the shift in his expression from the corner of my eye. A storm of emotions crossed his face—frustration, a flicker of something darker that made my stomach clench, and then a strangely pleased smile that didn't quite reach his eyes. There was something unsettling about that look, as if he were plotting something that would make me regret dismissing him so easily.

A wave of unease hit me instead of relief. Sometimes Morris's random jealous fits were exhausting, but this calculating look was somehow worse.
