Chapter 21 - ADN

Sohan was from a rich family. He had everything he needed, so why was he still trying to get more? He was standing there, staring at me with hatred. But it wasn't as if I loved him — I hated him with all my soul too. I would be ready to kill him if I had to. Now that I know what he truly feels toward me, I will stop pretending in front of him… though I will still hide my game.

"Sohan, you know that what you just said is a threat. Right now, if I went to the police station and reported you, what do you think would happen to you?"

"Go to the police station, Angi, don't make me laugh. You're inside my villa, locked in here. How exactly are you going to get out?"

"It's true, you have a point. But don't think I'm afraid of you. I would be ready to kill you too if I had to."

"Oh wow, the masks are falling. And as the old saying goes: it takes one to know one."

"Very funny, very funny. You should really try musical comedy. Maybe at least someone — or some people — would finally notice you."

"You know, Angi, you're the one who leaves me no choice. You keep circling around me and Soren. How do you expect me to react?"

"And you, how do you expect me not to stay close to Soren? He's my brother. I will never be separated from him, whether you like it or not."

"Brother? You don't even look alike. You have white hair, he has black hair. You share no resemblance at all. Maybe you're not even brothers."

"Watch what you say, Sohan. I won't let you say just anything about me and Soren. I can let some things slide, but not that."

"It seems I hit a sensitive point. What if I did a DNA test, just to see? You never know."

"Soren and I are brothers by blood. I love him with all my heart. It's not like you, who only loves his brother for money."

"How can you say something like that about me and Alex? I love my big brother with all my heart. He's the only person I have left in this world since our parents died."

"Spare me your crocodile tears. I don't care what happened in your life. You're the one who came looking for trouble, and now you've found it."

"You know, Angi, I think you and I are the same. Deep down, we're cruel, heartless, without mercy. And in our hearts, we'd even be ready to kill for our big brothers."

"Don't compare me to you. I have a heart. I'm not heartless. I know how to love people for who they are. I will never be trash like you."

Ugh, this stupid conversation was starting to piss me off. Sohan had been getting on my nerves for a while now, and we'd been talking for far too long. I thought Alex was waiting for me, and I didn't have time for him anymore. How could I get rid of Sohan right now? And where was the guard?

I turned around, but the guard was gone. I was about to leave when suddenly Sohan grabbed my wrist and yanked me backward. He squeezed so hard that my wounds reopened. To free myself, I pulled him forward with all my strength. He lost his balance, and before I could do anything, he fell and smashed his head against the wall.

"AAAAH!"

He let out a scream of terror that sent chills through my body. He was holding his head; blood was flowing, and he was crying uncontrollably. Guards began running toward us. I didn't know what to do, so I ran away. Sohan had left the door wide open, so I got out of the villa. I looked around in panic, and that's when I saw a bike. I didn't think twice — I took it and rode straight into the forest.

One thing was certain: I had hurt the young Katara once again.

Not that I regret it. He deserved it. At least now, I'm free.

All that's left is to keep pedaling until the sun rises.
