Albert quietly squeezed Hayes's thick paw.

His personality was aloof; even at a moment when he ought to be boosting morale, his tone remained calm and detached, as if he were describing something that had nothing to do with himself.

Perhaps it was precisely that blade-cold, silent attitude of his that made Hayes's promises far more convincing than anyone else's.

Despite his youth and that strikingly beautiful, cold face of his, no one doubted a single word he said.
