Chapter 1 - Part 1

Geo didn't know exactly how it happened, and he doubted he ever would, but here he was now, in a sticky situation he couldn't undo if he wanted to...

A few weeks ago

It was raining hard outside as the bus came to a stop once more to allow kids off. Geo was one of the last to get off, so he stayed in the back, away from the frigid air that swished in every time the door opened. The older high school student avoided freshmen like him like the plague, though he couldn't blame them, his classmates were annoying at the best of times.

Soon his stop arrived and he waved to the bus driver as he jumped off. The trek up the muddy driveway was a nightmare. He kicked off his shoes and got his keys from his bag. He didn't live alone, but with how little he saw his parents and siblings, he might as well. He quickly made dinner before taking his potion upstairs to eat while he works on homework.

Once his door was closed and locked he got out his phone.'132$ transfer to your account for this month's book sales.' The text said and Geo smiled. Slowly his books were getting more recognition. He affectionately got through his homework and started working on his next work in progress. He has written 4 books over the past three years, and now that he was in high school, he was able to publish them. He had done it under a Pen name so no one knew he was still under 18.

It was almost midnight when the rain stopped. Geo, realizing the time, quickly got ready for bed. Sleep found him quickly as his dreams filled with a million ideas and stories.

What an imagination...yet so stifled by those one can't control...such an easy fix, all you have to do is ask...

Geo shot up in bed and looked at the clock. 6:29. He got out of bed and turned his alarm off before it could start. He got ready and got down to see cold bacon and a hard biscuit waiting for him. Rolling his eyes, he ate the food while waiting for the bus. The warm air was a stark contrast from the night before.

"Hey little bro," A voice came from behind him and he turned to see Ava. She was the second youngest, and was the theater kid in the family. She had got a big role in last year's play and was now a star around school. "My theater friend's car has a flat so I decided to join you."

Everyone in my family was good at something. My dad was a professional coach for multiple sports. My mom was a successful business My oldest sister is a musical prodigy, and my oldest brother was a dance prodigy. They were twins and seniors in high school. My second oldest brother took after my mom and was probably going to be a lawyer when he grows up. Ava had always been a theater kid, and there was me, the normal kid.

Ava was the only one that knew I was an author, she had seen one of my old plot lines from one of my published books. The only reason she knew the book existed was because of her book loving girlfriend.

"I still can't believe you don't have a guardian spirit, with how talented your writing is." She said as we sat in the back of the bus. She was playing with the spirit in her hair like always.

"They protect those with true talent, like you and the others in the family. Writing isn't a talent, it is a skill. Plus, there are far better writers out there than me who don't have spirits." I informed her once again. We had this conversation every time she had time to speak to me, and it was tiring.
