A knight banged on the cage, me and Cole jolted awake, like when you have to wake up for collage and you couldn't sleep but you were finally able to sleep but you didn't get enough sleep.
"Did you sleep okay?" Cole asked.
"Like for thirty minutes but that's it. How about you two?"
"I slept for ten minutes, I have a lot of things on my mind," he said. He had bags under his eye, Luna also had bang under his eyes.
"What about you Luna?" I asked.
"Same as you, only for like thirty minutes" She said.
Three knights approached the cage. With the door squeaking open, their hands reached in and firmly took hold of us, as though we were criminals being apprehended. Each knight's grasp was strong and unyielding, leaving us with little room for resistance as they guided us towards a majestic castle in the distance. Upon entering the castle, we found ourselves in a grand room reminiscent of ancient Greek design, with intricately decorated columns and ornate marble floors. The knights ushered us into a chamber adorned with magnificent stained glass windows that depicted scenes of a happy family. In one pane, two children gleefully played while their regal parents sat upon a lavish throne.
As we were led further into the room, the children in the stained glass images seemed to magically age before our eyes. The boy bore a striking resemblance to an youthful version of Arthur. Beside him, the girl bore a resemblance to Arthur's sister, her gentle demeanor hinting at a deep familial bond between the two siblings.
"Sir we found a harpy, werewolf, and a Medusa," One soldier said.
"What do you want us to do with these beasts?" Another solider said.
"We're not the ones who are forcing monsters to stand trail against their will" I said, the soldier looked at me like I was oblivious to what happened yesterday. "First, we're not beasts, we're monsters. Second, that's what monsters do, if we feel like we're in trouble we will attack, to protect ourselves!" I said. The king growled
"Take the vampire to the sun, and take care of the rest." The guard that was holding Cole and was pushing him into the sunlight.
Luna's eyes glowed dark blue.
"Stop!" There were two voices.
The first voice belonged to Luna. Luna snapped her head to the side, causing the soldiers to be thrown back and crash into the wall. The second voice came from a girl perched on the chandelier, her eyes glowing a bright yellow. She wore a silver sequined blouse, black leggings and shoes that appeared to be hand-dyed. With long, dirty blond hair, green forest eyes, and a gentle face. Beside her on the chandelier was a wolf, its back arched and snarling. They both leaped down from about fifty feet, landing in front of us, they gazed up at the king. The wolf whirled around, surrounded by purple smoke. In an instant, the wolf transformed into a girl. She donned an off-shoulder purple top, black shorts, and tall boots, with a crossbow slung across her back. Her hair was dark purple, and her eyes were purple.
"Dad! You have to stop this. Just because you are scared of monsters, does not mean you have the right to kill them," Arthur said to the king.
"Do they look like they are going to hurt us? Please, they need help Dad" The blond hair girl pleated. We whipped our heads over to them, did she just say what I think she said?
"Dad?!" We gasped.
"Wait? Is that girl your sister?" Cole asked.
"Yes. That's Sunset, Sunset's my twin, and the other girl is Starlight." Arthur said.
"They are beast. . ." The king tried to say but Arthur cut him off.
"Sunset and I are monsters too, so does that mean we have to die?" He asked, if this didn't end soon Arthur would've pulled out his whole set of hair.
"Please they need help" She begged, the king looked at his kids then looked at us then he sighed.
"Fine, they can stay but if they do anything that puts you guys in danger! They will have to die!" The king said. He sat back down but I could tell that he didn't like doing this.
"Follow me, we'll help you guys," Starlight said, looking at me. Cole and Luna help to my feet and help me follow them. "So probably time to introduce us, my name is Starlight and this is Sunset"
"What's your guy's name?" Sunset asked us.
"My name is Luna, Cole, and Sky"
Starlight and Sunset guided us into a room that, Cole, Luna, and I entered the room. The ordinary light fixture in the center abruptly metamorphosed into an chandelier. Each bed in the room took on a surreal and captivating appearance. The first bed, with its ethereal wings and fang-like legs. The second bed, its legs playfully resembling snakes, the sheets cascaded like water. The third bed hovered off the ground, as if weightless, adorned with harpy wings.
"You guys should probably sit on one of the beds." We all choose the last bed. Arthur, Luka, Sunset, and Starlight were muttering to themselves, after a few minutes Sunset took a deep breath and exhaled.
"Did you guys know that you ghouls have powers?" She asked, she braced herself. We nodded our heads.
"We found out while we were in the forest," Cole said.
"I have fire, Luna's water, and Cole's nature" They all tilted their heads.
"You monsters do know you have two powers right?" Sunset asked, we shook our heads.
Sunset smacked Arthur over the head.
"Way the go you idoit! You didn't think to tell them that they had two different powers when you met them?!" Arthur rubbed the back of his head and scouled at Sunset.
"Fuck you! I can't do everything!" Sunset scoffs and rolls her eyes.
"Cole your powers are electricity and nature, Luna your powers are controlling water, and shadow magic you can go into the dark and be anywhere. And Sky yours are creating force field and fire." Starlight said.
"How do you know that about us?" Luna asked.
"We told them what happened" Luka and Arthur stepped forward.
"I knew my dad would try to kill you monsters, so Luka and I ran to Starlight and Sunset to warn them about what happened and we came up with a plan, to try to convince my dad not to publicly executed you ghouls"
"Can you explain why and how I lost control? It seemed like I was a different monster completely, I've never acted like that before"
"Because of the love you have for Luna and Cole, you were compelled to protect them when you saw them in pain. Your love for them led you to take action to protected them from harm. And when you stopped and realized the situation, it was again out of love, the concern you feel for Luna and Cole that made you snap out of any negative emotions." Sunset answered.
"You only lose control when you feel a strong negative emotion, that's why you lost control Sky, when Luna and Cole were in danger you wanted to protect them." Starlight said. We were happy but mostly horrified and worried.
"We should go to bed, it's been a long day for you three. We will talk more about it tomorrow" Luka said, we didn't want to go to be we wanted to know more, but we knew that we would need to sleep. We got up to get ready, we all got into a circle we started playing the game truth or death, I think the humans call it truth or dare, you'll see why it's called truth or death.
"Arthur, truth or death?" Starlight asked, really hoping for him to choose death.
"Death!" Starlight rubbed their hands evilly. I bet they have been planning this for a long time.
"Jump off that cliff!" Arthur ran outside a few feet away was a cliff about a few hundred feet down he jumped like he does these things every day. Luna shriek and ran outside. She didn't think he would do that, then out of nowhere, Arthur was behind her a few minutes later, causing her to kick him in the gut.
"Arthur! You scared me to death!" If looks could kill Luna would have murdered him with her hateful grimace.
"It's going to take more than a cliff to kill me, remember monster don't die that easily like humans do, I just used my superspeed to get back up here." He said timidly, backing up just in case Luna was going to kill him for real this time. Her eyes glowed blue, Arthur was being chased by a killing Luna. We were all watching them, laughing at the scene. After about ten minutes of this, Arthur came back, and his whole body was drenched. Luna came back in with a very proud face.
"Luna truth or death?" Arthur asked as his head was spinning.
"Truth" she huffed, she still wanted to murder him. "Watch with what you say I could blast you across the world"
"What do you think of me?" Arthur asked, nudging her, Luna blushed.
"You're a nice monster. I'm very grateful that you went out of your way to help ghouls even though you didn't know them." Luna smiled, Arthur pulled Luna in for a side hug. Luna felt a little awkward but she hugged him back. We all gagged but with a smile, we were trying to make this as awkward for them as possible, and it worked. They quickly separated, their faces all pink. After a while it was Cole turn.
"Sky, truth or death?" Cole asked me
"Truth" I said.
"Tell me what happened with Vex" My face went pale. I look at Cole, his face was all stern and cold.
"What?" I bite back.
"I know you went through hell and back with everything that happened with Vex, but I think it's time to move on" The whole room went silent, I looked at Cole with a disgusted face.
"Excuse me? 'Move on'? I went through the worst shit in my life! Both physically and mentally! And you think you have the right to say to me to, 'Move on'?!" Cole scoffs.
"I went through just as much trauma as you did Sky! It's been four years!" I jumped to my feet.
"You have no idea what tribulations I faced! I went through the depths of hell itself, and even now, I find myself navigating its fiery depths! How dare you dictate me, or to any soul who has hardship. The journey of healing is not a smooth one, and the scars of our past cannot be wished away with mere words!" At this point Cole was on his feet, he was towering over me but it didn't intimated me in the slight.
"You never discuss the experiences you shared with Vex, and every time I bring it up, you either avoid the topic or turn the situation around, making me feel like I'm to blame! I genuinely want to support you, to stand by your side, Sky!"
"What do you want from me?!" Both me and Cole faces were inches apart now. The others were trying to pull us apart but we were too deep into the argument none of us was trying to calm each other down.
"I want you to talk to me! Every time I want to hang out with you, want to go outside of your house, you have a full blown panic attack! You're pushing me away Sky, I know you are hurting but I don't know what else to do!"
"I survived two years of torture and harassment while dating Vex. The thought of going through that again fills me with fear and anxiety. The impact it had on my well-being was nothing short of devastating." We were partially screaming at each other.
"No I don't! Because you don't talk to me! You don't let me in! You've told Luna all about it, but not me?! Sky, I'm your boyfriend for fuck sakes! I should at least know some details into what happened, but nope, you don't care enough to tell me!"
"I didn't tell you for a reason, you are my boyfriend! Our connection goes beyond the ordinary friendship. It is a bond forged through trust, love, and shared experiences that have brought us closer together on this grand adventure we call life."
"And yet you were still able to tell Luna all about it!?" Cole growled. "You seem like you don't actually like me! For the past two year, you've never smile, laugh, or seem the slightest bit of happiness when you are around me! Do you actually care about me?! Or of this is just a fucking act!" Cole's whole eye turned black. "Perhaps I would have experienced a more positive look on life, if I haden't been in a relationship with someone like you!" He retorted. "I'm breaking up with you, I can't handle this relationship anymore!" With those heart wrenching words, my whole world crumbled. Tears streamed down my face and fled the scene, Luna, Starlight, and Sunset, close behind.
