Chapter 33 - the elves.

The beautiful face of the maiden who was standing across Don, had a pair of horns.

Protruding from just above her forehead, there was 2 bright red horns.

Curving backwards with a pointy edge.

She was about the same height as Don.

Drapped in blood red and thin fabric, underneath her hood.

The strands of the fabric stretching around and tigthly binding her tits and covering the nipples.

Her body wrapped tightly to provide maximum mobility in her field of work.

Her arms toned with intensive training and her body filled with scars.

Each one of them having a story of its own to tell.

Her hair crimson red was left untied.

She was wearing a piece of red loin cloth which had little to no intention of hiding her nether.

Her taut abdomen with visible abs and a mark engraved around her belly button.

A black symbol which glowed faintly.

As the hood settled down, Don noticed the 2 khopesh, gripped firmly on each of her hands.

Her eyes 2 glowing embers which to Don felt like a blinding light.

It reminded him of the penance stare used by ghost rider.

The glowing embers, the smooth shiny blade of the khopesh reflecting the faint light.

Don was frozen. Incapable of lifting a damn finger.

Not a single muscle in his body willing to even twitch as the sheer pressure of the Demoness's power weighed him down.

He felt helpless, like he was in the presence of death itself.

His throat refused to make a sound. His lips refused to part.

His eyes transfixed, at the horror standing in front of him.

His entire body shut down, but his mind didn't, it rushed trying to move, to scream, to call for help.

All while he begged for the system to save him.

The demoness moved, her face expressionless, her body swift as she closed the distance between them.

A second is all it took for her to move nearly, 50 meters in one leap.

Planting her foot, hard against the paved alley, sending rubble and broken tiles flying away.

Taking another step to balance herself, she swung her sword, it's edge slicing through the air and landing a slash on Don.

But thankfully due to an overloaded of adrenaline flooding his blood, made him leap backwards.

The edge of the blade cutting his dress and grazing his skin leaving a mere cut on the skin on the abbs.

Don didn't feel the pain, nor did he have the time to react to it.

Using the sudden burst of adrenaline to keep his body moving, he ran at full speed.

His eyes darting from left and right as he searched for the last turn he took.

His body under the effect of the flight or fight response ran madly.

His brain rushed with thoughts of what the hell was going on as he kept calling for the system.

For the first time in his life, he has ran this hard, his body felt light as a feather as the brain processed information at an increased level of speed.

Generally human body has a problem which limits them, the brain.

True, you can uncover the mysteries of the world with brain, but that very brain refuses to unleash your bodies full strength.

Including the limited speed of processing information.

For if the body is using 100% of its capacity, then it won't be able to sustain itself.

But at times the brain will unleash the limiter.

At extreme levels of fear adrenaline pushes the body to go hyper.

Mother lifts a car by herself to save her kid.

Father fights of a tiger to save his daughter.

Rugby player wrestle's a bear to protect his friends.

Etc.

Not only this.

Those who have tripped down a flight of stairs rolling down, experience for a brief moment, time a little slowly.

People who have been in a severe road accident and somehow managed to escape death by a hair's breadth report time literally slow down.

All of it is a result of the brain unleashing full potential.

And as I said earlier the body cannot sustain itself at full capacity.

And the very brain which unleashes its restraints on the body takes a gamble.

Even pain from a broken bone might go unnoticed. The brain suppresses the pain.

This is a problem.

Pain is one of the sophisticated awareness mechanism.

It is an evolutionary marvel, which tells the body when to stop.

Remeber-

"Survival isn't about being the strongest, or the most intelligent. It is a mix of luck and fate which stems from having the least necessary requirements for sustaining life. For thriving".

No matter how strong a lion is, it will still die in the middle of the ocean.

No matter how intelligent of a brain you possess. If there is not enough energy reserve for your body to run on. You too will die.

It is as simple as that.

Don on the other hand is unlucky.

The demoness couldnt hide a smile as she saw him run like a fool.

For the poison in the edge of her weapon had already mixed with his blood stream.

Spreading through out his body. Which went unnoticed by Don as his brain filtered out the pain.

And then as the poison reached his peroneal nerve, he lost balance toppled down and hit his head.

/thud/

He tried to stand up, applying pressure on the ground to push himself up.

As he got half way, he stumbled back down hitting his face.

The poison had spread through his arm.

He felt it go numb, and then his neck, face and finally his brain.

All the pain which the brain had kept undercheck rushed to his body as the parietal lobe was affected.

But then he Don lost all sense of pain, feel and everything.

Through the corner of his eyes he saw the demoness walk close and stomp down on his hand.

She twisted her leg, digging into his flesh and breaking his bones.

But Don didnt feel a thing.

Memories started to flash as a strange sense of comfort washed over him as large quantities of-

"DMT (N,N-dimethyltryptamine)", was released by his dying brain.

A faint wicked smile curled the demoness lips as she saw him dying.

But then a comet fell down from the sky. It released a gas which engulfed both Don and the demoness.

Cautious the demoness leaped backwards.

And saw another hooded figure aiming an arrow at her.
