Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: The Failed Escape

Yanan stood outside the door watching their backs recede.

Leo slowly approached: "What training? Is it beneficial for Omeginas?"

"You will know when the time comes."

Rowan walked briskly toward Asa's cave.

Asa was overjoyed to see Rowan come to find him, immediately intending to go into the kitchen to cook him a delicious meal.

Rowan hurriedly stopped him: "No need for the trouble, Leo hunted a lot of beast meat to honor you; let him cook for you later. I'm not hungry, just came here to chat for a bit then leave."

Leo wanted to speak but stopped; fine, whatever the Omegina said goes. He carefully divided a small portion of meat for the Omegina to take back.

Rowan rarely initiated conversation, but this time he chatted with Asa for quite a long time.

"Alright, I'm heading back first; Yanan said he would come visit you tomorrow."

Asa patted Rowan's hand: "Oh, good good, then you come tomorrow too, I will cook delicious food for you guys."

Rowan looked at Asa closely for a while, then gave a humming response.

Rowan didn't let Leo see him off, insisting on carrying the small portion of meat back himself, telling Leo to go cook for Asa.

Leo didn't dare argue with the Omegina, so he obediently saw the Omegina to the door.

Rowan returned to the cave, threw the beast meat to Owen telling him to cook, while he himself began packing things with the corners of his mouth slightly drooping and a heavy expression.

Owen saw Rowan's expression wasn't right and asked with some worry: "What happened? Why are you packing these things?"

"Been discovered, leaving tonight." Rowan nimbly arranged the luggage.

Owen also wore a serious expression, but his deep eyes flashed with light: "It was that beastman this morning who found out, right? Then we leave right now."

"Don't be rash, go cook; eat until full then wait until dark to set off." Rowan chased Owen to work.

The two hurriedly ate until full, then continued packing things needed for the road.

By the time they finished packing, it was already dark.

Actually, for ease of movement, the two picked and chose and ended up with only two animal skin bags holding things.

Rowan forced the impatient Owen to wait until midnight.

The two sneaked out of the cave entrance. To not alert the sleeping Snow Leopard clansmen, he didn't let Owen transform into beast form.

They ran safely toward the back mountain; the road was so quiet it was frightening.

Just as they reached the entrance to the back mountain, in the pile of withered bushes, pairs of eyes glistening with golden light like wild beasts suddenly lit up.

They stared intently at Rowan and Owen.

"Where are you two planning to go in this darkness?" Elder Kain couldn't hold back, stepping out of the bushes first.

Recently he had been endlessly pestered by the Omegina child in his family, all because this rescued Omegina fought over Leo with the child, yet the child dared not confront the person directly. Originally, Kain didn't intend to interfere in Arnold's private matters, but when it threatened the tribe, that was a different matter.

It was a pity that this Omegina didn't know his place, daring to hide a Silver-Winged Snake beastman in the tribe; this matter had seriously endangered the tribe's safety.

When he went to report to Raison, he happened to meet Leo who needed to gather beastmen in the tribe to eliminate the Silver-Winged Snake beastman hiding here.

Since the day he suffered a loss at Rowan's place, Arnold had been constantly watching to see if Rowan was truly keeping his distance from Leo.

At first, seeing Rowan being sensible and actively rejecting Leo's approach, he was reassured for a while.

Arnold also cast aside past grudges, clinging to Leo again; unexpectedly, that clueless beastman still only treated Arnold like a younger brother, causing him a bout of humiliation.

The result was that the shameless Omegina took the initiative to go to Asa's place to seduce Leo; truly a case of using a soft rope to tie tightly, nearly deceiving him.

When intending to find Leo to reason with him, Arnold discovered Rowan's movements were very suspicious, daring to secretly associate with a Silver-Winged Snake beastman right inside the tribe; he was so scared that he hurriedly ran back to find his father.

Leo originally just intended to gather a few people to go straight to Rowan's cave to find him; in his heart, a glimmer of hope still flickered.

Perhaps the Omegina had been threatened by that hateful Silver-Winged Snake beastman.

As a result, Arnold, having witnessed it with his own eyes, insisted that Rowan was secretly hiding a Silver-Winged Snake beastman, preventing Leo from acting rashly and alerting the enemy.

Facing a safety issue regarding the entire tribe, Elder Kain could not easily draw a conclusion, but he trusted his child. Arnold might be a bit spoiled, but he would not lie.

If the Omegina was truly colluding with the Silver-Winged Snake tribe, then this Omegina was also a major threat to the tribe.

Leo hesitated.

Elder Kain ordered the reinforcement of guards at the tribe's entrances and exits, guarding against that Silver-Winged Snake beastman escaping.

Tonight, almost all beastmen in the tribe were mobilized to take turns lying in ambush.

Leo put away his usual smile, slowly stepping out from behind a large tree, his eyes looking at the Omegina shining with disappointment.

Rowan had anticipated that they would be discovered, but he did not expect Leo and the others to have prepared beforehand, waiting for them to walk right into the trap.

He ignored Elder Kain's words and moved closer to Owen; Owen shielded the Omegina behind his back.
