Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Robbery? I'm Robbing His Ancestors

"Yo~"

Finally, walked into a dead-end alley.

No way forward, Wen Ran turned around, a look of panic on her face, "Who are you, who are you?"

There were three petty thugs, led by a man with uneven eyes, his gaze lingered lecherously on Wen Ran, "Sister, don't be afraid, your brother just wants to talk to you because you're pretty."

"Boss," the short guy at the back was obviously more pragmatic; he tugged at uneven eyes' clothes, his eyes fixed on the backpack, "The stuff!"

Uneven eyes looked a bit impatient, frowning, "Got it, look at your unambitious face!"

Wen Ran lowered her eyes, "We have no grievances in the past, and no enmity recently. Gentlemen, please show mercy and let me go. I am willing to give each of you five dollars."

"Hahahaha," uneven eyes laughed, "Do you take the three of us for beggars? Five dollars? Who are you insulting?"

"What do you mean?"

Uneven eyes smacked his lips, "It means that we want both the things and the money, and we'll even graciously accept you.

Don't worry, the three of us are merciful gentlemen, as long as you behave, we won't make you suffer too much."

Wen Ran slowly raised a smile on her face, "Are you sure?"

"What else?" Uneven eyes didn't take Wen Ran seriously at all, with her thin arms and legs, even if she resisted, it wouldn't make much of a splash.

"Alright."

"Hehehe..."

They closed in with grins, only to cry out in pain when Wen Ran knocked them down.

Wen Ran was swift and decisive, but given her weak body, she couldn't fully demonstrate her capabilities. She regretted it, but she didn't slow down her slapping speed.

The three were scattered and fell, crying pitifully, "Auntie, we were wrong, we were really wrong..."

They never expected, intending to pick an easy target, that upon confrontation, they found the opposite was a tough opponent.

Sharp thorns, prickly, and deadly.

Tears and snot falling together, disdain flashed in Wen Ran's eyes as she kicked away the hands of uneven eyes trying to grab her, "Scram~"

A bit too hard, uneven eyes howled, clutching his hand.

Wen Ran: "."

She felt a bit guilty, could it be that she broke it?

Feeling it out, she breathed a sigh of relief, fortunately, it wasn't broken.

She withdrew her hand and slapped again, "Dare to scare me?!"

Uneven eyes: "..."

Boohoo, why did we ever want to provoke this god of misfortune! It's really going to kill me.

Following the principle of not letting a bird pass without plucking a feather, Wen Ran got up, lips pursed in a smile, "Do you want to earn my forgiveness?"

"Yes!"

"Oh!" Wen Ran's smile brightened, but in their eyes, it seemed like a formidable deity had descended.

Wen Ran spoke leisurely, "Robbery! Hand over all your valuables!"

Inadequate skills, ended up being robbed.

Reasonable and logical.

Wen Ran joyfully pocketed the windfall obtained legally and walked away happily.

Only three unfortunates left tied up tightly behind her.

Oh~ hopefully a kind person will descend from the sky to save them.

Clutching the fifty dollars from the robbery, Wen Ran started on her way home.

Though it was midsummer, after the sun fell below the horizon, the orange-red sunset painted the sky, and cicadas sang tirelessly.

A breeze blew, and the irritability in her heart drifted away with the wind.

But, Wen Ran knew, there was still a tough battle to fight when she got back.

Wen Ran marched back, full of courage and spirit, like a fighting rooster.

But unfortunately, she found no chance to brawl; no one from the Wen family was there. Staring at the lock in daze, she fell into silence.

The kind aunt next door said, "Ran, your parents took your sister and brother back to their parents' home..."

Seeing Wen Ran unmoved, the aunt understood and silently cursed Yuan Mei for her neglect. Left without leaving Wen Ran a key.

A fresh young girl with nowhere to go would stir up much gossip.

She offered Wen Ran a way out, "Child, you've grown more careless, forgetting to bring the key."

She reached out to pull Wen Ran, "Just in time, my naughty kid has some questions he doesn't understand, Ran, come to explain to him and stay at my place for now."

Wen Ran, knowing the aunt's good intentions, offered a slight smile, "No need, aunt, it's not that I forgot the key, Yuan Mei didn't leave me one."

In the walkway, everyone perked up their ears, eyes sparkling with excitement.

Aunt was taken aback, forced a smile, "Is that so, then you can't get in, go..."

"Click~"

Before she finished speaking, Wen Ran had gently twisted the lock until it snapped.

Reaching out, with a slight push, the door opened.

The aunt resembled a rubber chicken with its neck pinched, silenced in an instant.

Heavens~

Truly terrifying!

Wen Ran stepped in, smiling softly, "Aunt, make sure tomorrow to explain to my father, it wasn't intentional breaking the lock, it was because Yuan Mei didn't leave a key."

The aunt next door: "...Alright."

Entering the house, Wen Ran's eyes sparkled with excitement, what is this called?

When sleepy, a pillow is sent.

Originally she wondered about getting some medicine for the Wen family to ensure they slept deeply at night so she could rummage through the house for valuables.

Based on the original host's memory, she vaguely recalled her mother hiding something at home when she was five or six.

Following memory and instinct, Wen Ran pried off the third brick under her bed, uncovering three large gold bars.

She began earnestly searching, after an hour and a half, Wen Ran gathered five large gold bars, twelve small gold bars, three dragon and phoenix gold bracelets, several jade pieces, a bracelet of unknown wood, and a small pitiful pile of money bills.

Estimated to be just over a hundred dollars.

Probably the Wen family's entire wealth.

She stored everything into the space, then turned to the kitchen to cook.

The cabinets were also locked, but Wen Ran wasn't deterred; she gently twisted, breaking the lock, and dug out two bowls of flour, making a steaming bowl of noodles.

She didn't forget to add two eggs for herself.

While eating, Wen Ran scanned the kitchen utensils, packing all usable items to take, and anything unusable to throw away.

No intention of leaving anything for the Wen family.

Early the next morning, Wen Ran woke up to her alarm, eyes open, though she wanted to linger in bed, there was much to do; she had to sort out the countryside assignment and work issues.

Holding Li Minmin's household register, Wen Ran hummed a tune and left.

Hand in hand with my enemy, down to the countryside we go together.

First stop, fill the belly, then, with two big meat buns, she strolled over to the educated youth office.

Sitting under the willow tree two streets away from the office, she began to pick her targets.

Yes, those who came to the office were all forced to go to the countryside, having no other choice.
