Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: On TV

In the room of the Manhattan Hotel, when Alyssa, hugging her laptop and watching the live broadcast, saw that familiar figure, even though his aura had completely changed, she still firmly believed that this person was Corin.

Her breathing quickened, her thighs rubbing together without her realizing it.

A pair of beautiful blue eyes stared fixedly at the face on the screen, "Ah! It's the boss! So this is what he looks like when he's on a mission~ so strong!"

"He's even more handsome~"

Little stars floated in her eyes as Alyssa couldn't help recalling Corin's strong, well-built body.

Letting out a little whimper, she turned into a little caterpillar rolling back and forth on the sofa, her ears red to the point of purple.

[Stark Tower]

Assistant Pepper's high heels clicked rapidly as she walked up to Tony, who was still focused on building his armor.

"Tony, look at the news, something big happened!"

Tony's eyes were locked on the parameter display Jarvis was projecting. He'd just had a test failure that sent him crashing into a wall, and it still hurt quite a bit.

Without turning his head, he casually brushed her off, "I never watch the news, you know that."

Pepper sighed helplessly, "It's the Osborn Group. Something happened to them."

The Osborn Group and Stark Industries were both business giants. Even though they were in different fields, they still had some business dealings.

Thinking of those old friends who worked on genes, Tony finally showed a little interest, "Jarvis, put the news on."

["Yes, Mr. Stark, playing the news now."]

As the big screen in front of him switched to a major network, the miserable state of the Osborn Tower appeared before Tony and Pepper.

"Whoa~ that really is a mess."

Tony was making snide remarks with his mouth, but in his heart he was thinking, 'You gene-research lunatics, always desperate to experiment on human bodies, it serves you right to be bitten back by the mutated creature you created.'

Just as he was watching the news with great interest, like watching a sci-fi movie, a crimson figure suddenly broke into Tony's field of view.

'That familiar outfit, that familiar mask, that damn handsome look…'

His body jolted, his eyes went wide:

"It's him! That bounty hunter."

The slight lean of his body forward showed that Tony's attention was now completely locked on the screen.

As he watched the red figure seemingly defy gravity and fly up toward the higher floors, "What the fu…"

'How did he do that?'

Tony recognized Corin. This was that infuriating bounty hunter whom he had wired fifty million dollars a few days ago.

That had left Tony feeling extremely annoyed, but that playing card had always been a shadow pressing on his heart.

So after he came back, he dove straight into the lab, dumping everything else on his assistant, and poured himself into researching the mechanical armor.

Suddenly seeing the bounty hunter's red figure appear in the news, Tony began to think, 'It seems like he is helping the Osborn Group clean up their mess?'

When the helicopter in the air switched the live feed to the rooftop, Tony could no longer stay calm.

"That monster!"

He wasn't talking about the Lizardman, but about Corin.

That fierce and agile Lizardman didn't even have a chance to fight back in front of him. A layer of cold sweat instantly broke out on Tony's body.

"Good thing I didn't break my promise back then…"

[Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division(S.H.I.E.L.D.)]

Nick Fury, who was also watching the live broadcast, had a sharp gleam flash through his single eye, "Go check, right now! I want to know everything about this man immediately!"

Those words fell to the floor with a thud no one picked them up.

When he turned his head, he saw Agent Hill staring blankly at the figure on the screen, lips pressed together in a daze.

Hill was still one of the better ones. Some of the other female agents were clapping and cheering along with the crowd, and some even let out screams, going crazy.

The male agents were also deeply drawn in by the live images, but who knew what exactly was going through their heads.

Nick Fury let out a bitter laugh. Even he had almost slammed the table in excitement just now, 'These young people… let them be…'

He turned his gaze back to the screen, light flashing again and again in his eye.

'This man, I have to make him join my plan.'

———

After waving goodbye to his fans, Corin gently closed his eyes and fully activated his Spider Sense.

He detected two signs of life upstairs. One was strong and accompanied by low growls, the Lizardman.

The other heartbeat was so nervous it was about to jump out of their chest, 'That should be Little Spider's girlfriend.'

He smiled faintly, "Little sister-in-law, don't be scared, big brother's here to save you."

Swoosh~

He pushed off hard with his feet and turned into an afterimage drifting upward toward the upper floors.

———

Captain George recognized the young man in front of him the boy his daughter liked, Peter Parker.

His expression complicated as he looked at Peter in the Spider-Man suit, the gun in his hand still not lowered.

'No wonder, back at that dinner, he defended Spider-Man that way. So he is Spider-Man.'

Peter's heart burned with anxiety. His eyes looked earnestly at his girlfriend's father, "Gwen is still inside, you can't stop me…"

George's pupils constricted, the hand holding the gun trembling slightly. Knowing that his beloved daughter was in such a dangerous place while the squad he commanded had no way to deal with the Lizardman.

'Looks like right now we can only rely on this kid in front of me.'

His previous understanding of Spider-Man as a lawless vigilante quietly began to change at this moment.

Seeing that Captain George didn't speak, Peter slowly put his Spider-Man mask back on, then turned and ran toward the tower.

Just then, misunderstanding Spider-Man, the other officers suddenly opened fire, and Captain George shouted at the top of his lungs, "Cease fire! Don't shoot!"

But a bullet still grazed Peter's thigh, hindering his movement.

———

There were police everywhere, reporters everywhere, and cameras everywhere.

The eyes of all of New York were gathered here.

Spider-Man struggled to climb toward the Osborn Tower, but the long distance and the lack of anything to grab onto on the surface slowed him down.

Just when Peter was so anxious he was almost in tears, the father of the boy he had saved on the bridge back then gave an order over the radio.

He happened to be responsible for maintenance on the skyscrapers in this area.

"Now it's my turn to help you!"

The booms of tower cranes all began turning their arms at once, and in an instant they formed a bridge in front of Peter leading straight to the Osborn Tower.

Peter's spirits lifted. He sealed his bleeding wound with webbing and ran and jumped with all his strength, only to fall down toward the ground below.

Just as the crowd gasped and everyone held their breath for Little Spider, Spider-Man's figure appeared on the steel beams lifted by the crane.

The people were fired up, cheering and jumping for joy, applauding this tenacious hero.

Peter flicked his wrist and shot out webbing, swinging along the line of tower cranes toward the Osborn Tower.

———

Corin found Gwen in a dark cabinet. Right now, she was gripping the antidote with both hands, her stubborn eyes full of wariness as she stared at the weirdo in front of her.

"Your mission is complete. Leave the rest to me. You should go to shelter now."

His gentle tone smoothed the tension in Gwen's heart.

"Where's Spider-Man?"

Gwen could not forget about the boyfriend she loved.

Hearing this, Corin smiled slightly, turned his head to glance outside. Through the glass window, with his super vision he saw Little Spider's stubborn and determined figure flying toward them.

"Don't worry, he's on his way."

Gwen would not easily trust this stranger in front of her and insisted on giving the antidote to her father or Spider-Man.

To this, Corin had no comment. His mission was just to take out the Lizardman. As for whether other people used the antidote or not...

Sorry, he was just a bounty hunter with no feelings.

After saying goodbye to Gwen, Corin sensed the movements upstairs. His figure flickered and disappeared from Gwen's sight.

.

When Corin reached the rooftop, the Lizardman had already installed the gene toxin into the dispersal device and was staring at it expectantly.

The countdown began.

Corin stared intently at the Lizardman and calmly drew his throwing knives.

He knew the Lizardman before him had extremely strong recovery and regeneration, 'In that case…'

'If one isn't enough, then two. If two aren't enough, then add more.'

By this time, Corin was holding nearly ten throwing knives flashing with cold light in his hands.

The Lizardman was in danger.
