CHAPTER 3
Annie: Hello(smiles brightly) I'm Annie Dawson a new transfer student,It's nice to meet you all. And I'm looking forward to making great friends with you guys ( she said cheerfully and immediately a girl raised her hand up)
Ms. Jess: You've got something to say Tony? Go on,( she said, urging her to talk)
Tony: (Her legs crossed on each other) You say your name is Annie right?
Annie: Yeah ( she replied immediately)
Tony: Mmm, So are you an LPF or something? I mean, since you got a scholarship( Her words made the other kids burst into laughter) And by the way, which school did you transfer from?( She asked with a disgusted look)
Ms. Jess: Hey Tony!! Don't you have any better questions to ask? That's not very welcoming(She said on top of her voice)
Tony: Who says we want to welcome her? ( she said rolling her eyes)
Ms. Jess: Tony! Behave yourself ( she said with a mean look)
Annie: (Smiling awkwardly) What does LPF mean? ( She asked, turning to face Ms. Jess)
Ms. Jess: Never mind that( she said quickly, her eyes scanning the room for an empty seat) Let's find you a place to sit...( She pointed to a seat at the back next to a girl who was engrossed in a novel) During lunch break, come to my office to get your things, or you could use the elevator to get to the ninth floor, Alright?
Annie: Alright, thanks ( she replied with a gentle smile, walking toward the seat at the back)
Ms. Jess: ( She spotted one of the students recording a video in class) Mike! Put that phone away right now. I said no videos in class( she said in a warning tone and walked out of the class)
Annie: ( seated on her seat, she placed her backpack on her desk, her eyes scanning the whole class in amazement. Then she began staring at the girl seated next to her and the novel she was reading) Hi( she said, trying to get her attention, but didn't get any response back) she probably didn't her me(she thought to herself and leaned forward, trying to see the title of the novel) Wow! (exclaim) you're reading Williams Golding's "Lord of the Flies", it's such a nice novel( she said facing the girl next to her) You have a unique taste for novel's, just like me( she said smiling,but still didin't get any response) You know, this novel is such a plot twist,Crazy how those boys started off civilized and ended up savag…..
Han-na: (She slammed the novel on her desk, cutting Annie off) Will you stop being nosy?! You're distracting me, please! And l didn't ask for your comments.
Annie: (Scoffs) I'm being nosy?
Han- na: Yes, you are (she said, fixing her gaze on Annie with a mean look) And keep your comments to yourself ( She picked up her novel again and continued reading, ignoring Annie, who was left shocked by her sudden outbust. Not long after, a young man walked into the classroom holding a textbook)
Mr. Zach: Hello students( he said as he entered the class and looked at Annie) You must be the new transfer student?
Annie: (she stood up immediately,all eyes on her) Yes Sir.
Mr. Zach: No, no don't stand up. You can have your seat. I just wanted to wish you goodluck in your stay at the school( he said with a weird smile)
Annie:( she sat sown back slowly) That's weird(she muttered to herself)
Mr. Zach: As you all know, the sports competition against 12th grade is just three weeks away, so I wish you guys goodluck
Mike: I thought we'd be competing against Grade 11 Section B… but now we're competing with our seniors?
Mr. Zach: Guess you guys were not aware of it? Yeah,you're competing with your seniors and training starts next week.
Bella: Why not this week?
Mr. Zach: Cos that when your seniors are ready to train.
Mike:(smirks) So they the ones to tell us when to start training, Bullsh*t( he said, clearly not worried about the teacher watching)
Mr. Zach: Bullsh**t?! Did you just cuss?
Jethro: You just did to
Mr. Zach: What?
Jethro: You said" Bullsh*t? Did you just cuss?"( he said mimicking Mr. Zach, making other kids burst into laughter) Oh! My God, our P.E teacher just cussed( he added dramatically)
Mr. Zach: ( furious) Of course! That why you're no match for the 12th graders. Let me get my job done and get the hell out of here.(he muttered to himself)
Annie: Isn't that the guy who bumped into me earlier? (she muttered to herself, eyes fixed on Jethro as he laughed with the other kids) He's such a pain in the ass
Mr. Zach: So for today, we'll be discussing about Cardiovascular Endurance( he started lecturing them for about thirty miniutes before the electronic bell rang and he left the class immediately)
Annie: (She rummaged through her backpack for her notebook and noticed three girls standing infront of her desk, one even sitting on top of it. Slowly, she raised her head) Hi ( she said, smiling awkwardly)
Malia: (Squatting to pick up a notebook from the floor, she stretched it towards Annie) Looking for this?
Annie: ( Takes the notebook) Yeah, thanks, (she smiles) And you guys are….?
Malia: ( Moves closer to Annie and whispers in her ear, a devilish smile on her face) You'll find out soon.(then turns to others) Let's go, guys.
Claudia: (Still seated on Annie's desk, examining her hair) What kind of shampoo do you use?
Tony: Claudia! (She shoots her a sharp look and pulls her off Annie's desk)
Claudia: ( As she and Tony rush to catch up with Malia, who is already walking away) She really has a nice hair.
Annie: (Looking confused) That's …. creepy. And l don't even use shampoo, my hair's naturally like this (she said boastfully as she caressed her hair, making Han- na give her a strange look.... To be continued.
