The courtyard was a storm of magic and shadows. Noctyra's darkness surged like a living tide, devouring moonlight and twisting the air into jagged edges.

Asteria stood at the center, her hands glowing with pure silver energy. Her chest raced—not from fear, but from the certainty that she could not fail. Not now. Not with Kael by her side.

"Kael…" she whispered.

"I'm right here," he said, sword raised, eyes locked on hers. "We end this together."

Asteria inhaled, closing her eyes. For the first time, she didn't fight against her magic—she embraced it. Silver energy spiraled from her, forming a protective cocoon around them, then erupted outward in a brilliant wave.

Noctyra shrieked as the attack met shadow, the darkness unraveling under the force of Asteria's power. The Wraiths dissolved into mist, shrieking and scattering.

But Noctyra remained, more furious than ever. She lunged with shadowy claws, faster than the eye could track. Kael intercepted, parrying with his sword, sparks flying as their blades clashed.

Asteria felt her heart hammering. This is it. We can do this.

She surged forward, weaving her magic into Kael's strikes, the two moving in perfect harmony. Moonlight and silver energy collided with darkness in an explosion of light that lit the entire courtyard.

Then, in a brief, suspended moment, their eyes met. Her hands still glowed, his face etched with determination—and something more, something deeper.

Asteria's lips trembled. Kael's breath hitched. The world narrowed until it was just them—magic, heartbeats, and the faint, thrilling pull of something neither dared name.

The final strike came—Asteria channeling all her power, Kael striking in perfect sync—and Noctyra's shadow was torn apart in a burst of dazzling light. Silence followed.

Asteria collapsed into Kael's arms, laughing breathlessly. "I… we… did it?"

Kael held her close, smiling softly. "We did. Together."

Puff purred triumphantly, circling them. Lunevar shook his head with a grin. "I cannot believe I'm saying this… but nicely done, Starweaver."

Asteria leaned closer to Kael, heart still racing. "You know… maybe destiny isn't so bad… if I get to face it with you."

Kael's grin softened into something tender. "Then I'll never let you face it alone."

And under the moonlit sky, amid sparkling ruins and lingering magic, their hands intertwined—and for the first time, destiny felt… entirely theirs.
