Synopsis
Ci Zhanshi. The Sect Master of the Dual Lotus Sect. A side character from a popular VRRPG game, Heaven Chasers. He was a character that players dismissed as mere cannon fodder—living a reckless life, drowning in alcohol and indulgence. His story was destined for a swift end, abruptly cut short by a surprise attack from a barely functioning first boss. Most players would laugh or perhaps spare a moment's pity for him before racing ahead with their own narratives in the game. But what if they suddenly found themselves wearing Ci Zhanshi's shoes? Would they begin to grasp the tangled reasons behind his downfall? Could they catch a glimpse of his distorted view of the world, shaped by regret and lost opportunities? Ren was now faced with that very possibility—and it frightened him. Trapped in the frail body of Ci Zhanshi, he could feel the depletion of yang energy pulsing through him after a reckless night spent at the Pink Milk house. Every step felt like a monumental effort, and the looming threat of a boss-level monster knocking on the doorstep of his tiny sect hung heavy in the air—ready to obliterate him and his junior sister. He had just started playing Heaven Chasers, barely skimming the surface of the plot, and now he found himself entwined in a fate he couldn’t predict. And why did it feel as if Ci Zhanshi’s memories were tugging at his actions, steering him toward unknown paths? What depths would he uncover as he navigated this dangerous and uncertain reality?

Chapter 1 - 01. Young Master, Don't cry

In the Southern mountains under the territory of Black Hawk Sect, there was a small sect known as the Dual Lotus Sect.

The Dual Lotus Sect was a Black Rank or the lowest-ranked Sect that focused more on the Dual cultivation technique, which had successfully brought this Sect to a brighter height once before it suddenly fell again to the dust due to the deaths of both the Sect's patriarch and matriarch in the annual Southern Domain's evaluation examination.

The Sect actually had a powerful ancestor, but after she witnessed how the young master of the Sect behaved, she suffered from Qi Deviation and was forced to enter closed practice for the next 20 years.

The Sect slowly loses its disciples. Now, there was only the Young Master himself and his junior sister, who was also his supposed Dual cultivation partner, left in this forsaken sect that barely still qualified as a Black Rank Sect.

That morning, Ci Zhanshi suddenly opened the door of his room, his legs trembling.

He looked shocked, as if he found himself in a completely unknown place after waking up while clutching his head with one hand.

His action attracted the attention of Yi Qi, Ci Zhanshi's junior sister, who was sweeping the courtyard.

"Young Master, what's wrong?" She asked him, her voice and expression neutral.

Ci Zhanshi slowly looked up to see Yi Qi's face.

Spotless skin. Silky long black hair. Cold yet warm eyes. And not overly sized body but proportional enough.

Ci Zhanshi was staring for a moment in silence before finally waking up from his stupor.

He was frowning as he massaged his forehead.

"Yi Qi... Last night, I..." He muttered, hesitating, as if trying to recall something that wasn't his doing but had stuck firmly in his mind.

"You spent almost all of your Yang energy in an intimate session with Ron'er and Yan'er from Pink Milk house, yes." Yi Qi finished what he had hesitated to say, her expression remained neutral.

There was a pause after that.

Then a loud gulp echoes. It came out from the Young Master of the Sect.

Then...

He started weeping.

"Why can't I at least wake up earlier?" He lamented softly.

Ci Zhanshi slowly fell to his knees while continuing to weep buckets of tears.

A flash of concern appeared on Yi Qi's expressionless face before it disappeared as she walked over to approach Ci Zhanshi.

She crouched before him, her right hand pulled out a handkerchief. She used it to wipe her Young Master's tears.

"Young Master, don't cry. Are you okay?" She asked gently, despite her tone remaining as neutral as before.

"You had spent almost all of your Yang energy. You need to rest. Don't force yourself to wake up early. Yi Qi could take care of the Sect alone," She suggested kindly. She finally wiped all the tears off Ci Zhanshi's face.

Ci Zhanshi paused and stared at her, his eyes watery.

'You didn't know anything, Yi Qi!'

In actuality, the reason why he cried was not that he failed to wake up earlier, as Yi Qi had guessed.

It's because he couldn't feel the pleasure of... Ehem, not that either!

It's because he was not supposed to be here.

No, not him, not Ci Zhanshi, not this body.

But his soul, Ren!

'Why did I suddenly end up inside Heaven Chasers!?'

[Heaven Chasers].

It was a solo VRRPG game that had risen in popularity recently because of the game's classical cultivation theme, but with spectacular action mechanics and a complex romantic aspect.

The protagonist was a boy who was destined to become The Heavenly One, the one who was chosen by Heaven itself and was said to soon step foot in the Realm of Immortals.

Heaven Chasers' storyline itself was focused on his journey before he reaches the end of becoming an Immortal.

The rating of the game was 9.2 stars and was so hyped that the news about it reached a casual gamer like Ren.

Since the price was not that costly, Ren decided to give the game a try and bought it.

Ren remembered that he had just reached the moment where the protagonist stepped on the ruins of the Dual Lotus Sect that had been destroyed by the Blood Cultivator, who had escaped from him.

There, there was only the corpses of a man and a woman. What made him interested was that the corpses were holding each other's hands.

Since he was curious about what happened to them, he used his Protagonist's daily limited Art of the Dead's Cutscene to see the last moment before their deaths.

The moment he did so, the screen went black for a moment before a sight of a man with a name Ci Zhanshi over his head reached out his hand toward the woman, Yi Qi, who was being held by the Blood Cultivator on the neck from behind appeared before him.

The buildings of the Sect were burning, while blood covered the thin layer of snow that covered the courtyard.

"Yi Qi!!" the man screamed desperately as he crawled towards them.

As it turned out, the man actually had his legs cut to his thighs. He was leaving a crimson path on the snow surface as he crawled.

The woman, with difficulty, opened her eyes to look at him.

"Young... Master..." She muttered, her face rapidly paling as the Blood Cultivator continued to absorb her blood and essence.

Tears and snot were covering the man's face, making it dirty.

"Please...! Please, spare her, Senior!" He began desperately pleading for the woman's life.

"You can absorb as much blood as you want from me, but please leave Yi Qi alone!"

The Blood Cultivator remained silent, which drove the man even deeper into the chasm of despair.

"Senior, please spare her! She was the only one I had in my life! Please... PLEASE!!!"

But the Blood Cultivator was unresponsive, unwavering. He would not stop just because the man told him to stop.

"Young Master... G-go... J-just... Leave me..." The woman muttered weakly as her body began to lose strength.

The man's fingers pierced through the snow layer. His eyes shook violently. He mustered all of his strength to bring his body even a little bit closer to the only person who never left him.

"No... N-no... Nnnooooo!... Senior! Senior!... Yi Qi... She... She... Please!! Spare her!!"

Ren remembered that he forcefully skipped the cutscene the moment the woman fell to the snow ground limply. He couldn't bear to see more than that.

Ren was shocked to his core at that time. He never expected to find such a tragic cutscene when he casually triggered the cutscene to start.

Because of this, he even complained to the developer of the game, saying that the cutscene was too tragic and needed to be fixed or rewritten. The realistic quality made the cutscene too much for him to watch. It was like watching the sufferings of real people, and it was definitely not a pleasant sight.

Ren then exited the game and went to lie on his bed at that time, trying hard to forget the cutscene, though his attempts failed.

He remembered that there was an instant pause in his memories at that time before he suddenly found himself in the body of Ci Zhanshi, the same guy who cried desperately toward the Blood Cultivator to spare the life of...

The life of...

Before he even realized it, his body had already moved.

His arms stretched out and pulled Yi Qi into his embrace.

"Yi Qi..."

The voice came out unexpectedly for Ren. Unexpectedly weak, unexpectedly desperate.

His mind was in chaos, with the memories of him and Ci Zhanshi's mixed and mingled like water and oil in the same pot while a mixer was trying to combine them together.

Feeling the warmth of the had yet to mature girl in his embrace, a wave of relief washed over his body. It was like he finally saved and returned to his house after being stranded in a violent storm in the middle of the night for hours.

Then came fear.

Fear of losing the warmth.

The cutscene.

The clutch of the ruthless Blood Cultivator.

He must prevent it from happening.
