Chapter 34 - Deception

Rhodes' voice was low, carrying a fitting sense of reverence, as if recalling a grand adventure that transcended mortal understanding:

"...Gigantic, ancient, majestic. It was not a creature of flesh and blood as we know it, but a construct of steel.

His body was almost entirely forged from unknown metals. I estimate his height to be at least twenty meters," Rhodes said.

As a veteran player of the Azeroth World, Rhodes' knowledge of the Titan race exceeded almost everyone in this era.

Rhodes knew all the Titan ruins and the affairs between the Guardians like the back of his hand.

The largest Titan city now is Ulduar in Northrend. Other regions include Uldaman, Uldum, the Halls of Valor in the Broken Isles, the Stormforged in Kul Tiras, the Terrace of Endless Spring in Pandaria... and the various Guardians, even the feud between Chief Guardian Odyn and his daughter Helya, and how Loken of Ulduar betrayed the other Guardians and joined Yogg-Saron.

"Dwarven experts from the Ironforge Archaeological Society once conducted research. They say that all Titan constructs are not flesh and blood life; their bodies are forged from steel. Even the ancestors of the Dwarves and the ancestors of humans were constructs of steel," Jaina said.

The view that Dwarves were once constructs of steel is widely accepted within Dwarven society. Although humans are reluctant to admit it, various signs indicate that humans are degenerated Vrykul.

The Vrykul were once gigantic constructs of steel. Clearly, Rhodes encountered a powerful ancient Titan life form; it was just unknown whether he was a Titan Keeper.

"Did he not harm you? Or did he communicate anything to you?" Uther asked.

"I explored that massive labyrinth for an unknown length of time. I was tired and thirsty, and that gigantic life form took pity on me, rescued me, and told me that I was a creation of the degenerated Titan race," Rhodes continued his deception.

His current goal was to create a powerful Titan Keeper existence for himself, which he could then use to explain the endless stream of good items he would produce in the future.

Killing elite units or hero units could add outdoor facilities, which meant that in the future, he might acquire cities or outdoor lairs belonging to other races.

In the future, the troops under his command would not be limited to the undead.

Upon hearing this, Uther and Jaina looked shocked. It seemed the Dwarves' research was correct, and even some mages in Dalaran had reached this conclusion: humans were indeed degenerated Titan constructs.

"What happened next? Rhodes, what was the name of that mysterious entity? Could you briefly describe its appearance?" Jaina asked anxiously.

"He was about 20 meters tall, wore golden armor, carried a weapon seemingly made of lightning, and wore a golden helmet.

As for his name, that great existence did not explicitly state it, and I dared not press him. He merely told me to refer to him as a Titan Keeper." Rhodes directly described the appearance of the Titan, the ultimate unit of the Tower faction in heroes of might and magic III.

When I summon my Titan daddy in the future, I can just use him to impersonate a Guardian. That would be perfect!

"So how did you obtain these magical items from him? Did you also learn your special magic from the Titan Keeper?" Jaina asked.

"That's right! Actually, I couldn't use magic before, but ever since I met that great existence, he bestowed upon me the power to use magic through an unknown method," Rhodes continued fabricating the story for the two of them.

"That's truly incredible. He directly granted a mortal the power to use magic, and even gave you such amazing magical talent?" Jaina's eyes sparkled with excitement.

"What an astonishing encounter, Rhodes. Was your Holy Light also bestowed upon you by that powerful Titan Keeper?" Uther asked.

"No! My magic was indeed granted by this powerful Titan Keeper, but the Holy Light was something I comprehended on my own. You might not believe it.

Sometimes in my dreams, I encounter a miraculous creature, seemingly transcending time and space. My consciousness is drawn into a fantastical world.

I saw a life form emanating the aura of Holy Light all over, its body seemingly composed of countless massive steel plates. Let me draw it for you!" Rhodes finished speaking, picked up a small stick, and drew the shape of a Naaru the Holy Light Tangram on the ground.

These Holy Light Tangrams are the source of the Holy Light.

Uther's expression changed drastically upon hearing this. He looked at Rhodes in shock, his body trembling uncontrollably. He believed what Rhodes said.

Because under the guidance of the Holy Light, he too had vaguely seen the creature Rhodes described many times in his dreams.

That creature radiated the aura of Holy Light all over. The entity seemed to want to say something to him, but an infinite distance seemed to separate them, and Uther could not clearly hear what the mysterious Holy Light creature meant.

He frequently had these dreams, dreaming of that legendary creature, but Uther swore he had never mentioned any of this to anyone.

Now that Rhodes had also seen this creature in his dreams, Uther was absolutely certain that this young man named Rhodes, just like himself, was favored by the Holy Light.

Uther was now even more convinced that he should bring Rhodes into the ranks of the Paladins!

"What happened after that? Rhodes, that powerful Titan Keeper gave you magical items again, right?" Jaina was now eager to hear the rest of the story.

"That's right! He gave me medical tents, and not just one.

Because in the eyes of that Titan Keeper, things like this are merely trifles that he can create easily; they are worthless," Rhodes said.

"Oh my, how wonderful it would be if I encountered such a mysterious Guardian! What happened next, Rhodes? Did you have any further communication with that Titan Keeper?" Jaina asked.

"I stayed there for a period of time, and later I was sent out by that mysterious Titan Keeper. However, before I left, the Titan Keeper said some mysterious words to me. He said he said I would accomplish something world-shaking in the future.

And he granted me a special privilege: if I ever needed it in the future, I could return to his domain, and he would provide me with assistance within his power," Rhodes said.

"Oh my goodness! Those words are the same as what the Prophet said, Rhodes. Your future accomplishments will absolutely, absolutely make you a a great figure," Jaina said after a pause.

Uther, standing nearby, also nodded. To be favored by a powerful Titan Keeper and blessed by the Holy Light, Rhodes' future achievements would certainly not be small.
