Darius moved closer and pulled Lena's grip away from Erik, his tone dripping with contempt. "Aunt, quit hassling Dad like this. Louise created this disaster herself.
She crossed the wrong people while acting reckless, and now she's paying the price.
Dad was being generous just keeping her breathing.

"She's still fantasizing about medical school? She should kiss the ground she's walking on," Darius's wife added her voice to the mix.
She went on, "This mess started because you babied her too much. Word is she got burned last time for refusing to help some dying patient. And now? Same damn story. She thought she was bulletproof and pissed off dangerous people."
