Warner's POV
"She actually told you that? She claimed they're mine?" The words leave my mouth for the second time, disbelief coating every syllable.
"Yes, and she has every right to protect them, Warner. Look at this mess," Mom throws down the collection of magazine articles she's been hoarding over the years. "This is all she knows about you, and it paints you as a monster."
I've been digging into her background too.
"This woman has crawled through hell to reach where she is today. Right now, she's scared out of her mind, and after what went down with Miranda, she has every reason to be terrified, Warner."
"You need to give us the truth, Warner. Is she the one?" Dad's voice cuts through the tension. I stay silent. "Warner. Look at me, son. Is this woman your mate?"
"Yes." The admission falls from my lips like a stone. Mom releases a deep, weighted sigh.
