Chapter 22 - The New Elder

As Lei Fu finished speaking and drew the common Abraham gesture on his chest, even the Abrahams with strong opinions put aside their prejudices and drew the Abraham gesture, the Door gesture, on their chests.

After a period of silence, Lefu, like a deity's most loyal priest, slowly spoke after completing his prayer: "The new Elder is named Amadi Abraham. Of course, his external name is Amadi Hart. He is a department member working for the new government and lives at 47 Hiron Street. He is a powerful Astrologer."

As Lei Fu's introduction ended, everyone looked at the new Elder as if waiting for something. However, this Elder did not say much. He simply met the gazes of the Abrahams and calmly walked from the table to Lefu's side, then habitually bowed again.

Then, Mr. Amadi said in a rather humorous tone, "Gentlemen, I am delighted to become a true Astrologer and serve you all as an Elder. Although I think it's best we don't meet in real life, and thus I don't wish to remove my mask, for your better assistance, I will remove my cold iron mask and let your eyes gaze upon my ordinary face."

Amadi stirred the interest of the Abrahams present with his dramatic language. After a moment of silence, Amadi slowly removed his mask. Everyone looked on, but saw a faint mist covering the gentleman's face. With a forceful blow from the gentleman, like a circus act, the mist dispersed, revealing a young face beneath, full of playful and expectant expressions.

Fulen had to admit that this Elder, full of a playful attitude, was the most handsome person Fulen had ever seen. Sword-like eyebrows rested above eyes filled with a worldly playfulness. A high but not gloomy nose bridge showed his resolute will. Lips, though unpainted, still contained vitality under the dazzling candlelight. Everything about him showed this gentleman's dashing handsomeness.

His short black hair did not make this young man seem rigid or old-fashioned; instead, it further highlighted his ethereal temperament. His expression gradually shifted from playful to a half-smile, his lips curving into a strange arc. It was hard to imagine what this Astrologer was truly thinking.

Fulen recalled all the male friends he had known. Kvedo, though sunny and handsome, lacked in facial details compared to Amadi. Erich was cold and handsome, but compared to Amadi, his face seemed to have some inexplicable flaws.

As everyone was captivated by Amadi's handsomeness, Lefu coldly interrupted their observation of Amadi's appearance: "Alright, what needed to be introduced has been introduced, what needed to be explained has been explained. Let the rest of the matters conclude. Alright, the meeting is adjourned. Oh, and Apprentices who have not yet advanced to Sequence 8, please come forward now if you wish to claim your materials. As for the others, if you don't want me to send her off, then please leave."

Everyone was surprised by Lefu's decisive arrangement. They felt that the meeting was anticlimactic and awkward, but couldn't articulate what else needed to be done. However, seeing Amadi shrug helplessly after putting on his iron mask, and Lefu coldly turning and walking away without looking back, they dared not say anything more.

Fulen originally intended to leave with the others, but thinking of the charming maid Miss Heidi Lin, he couldn't help but want to discuss it with Elder Lefu, while also preparing to claim his own Sequence 8 materials.

To Fulen's surprise, only three scattered individuals followed behind Lefu, preparing to claim their Sequence 8 materials. However, as Fulen had thought, many of the Abrahams present should have been only Apprentices, not Trickmasters.

Lefu turned to look at the few Abrahams behind him, saying nothing, only giving them his characteristic perpetually cold gaze, then walked silently. The Abrahams following behind were startled by Lefu's sudden turn, and after one or two seconds of silence, they followed him again.

The entire process felt as if a layer of ice had formed, making the atmosphere among the five people, including Lefu, extremely silent. Fulen could only hear the heavy footsteps of the Elder in front of him, while the four Apprentices behind him were forcefully suppressing their own footsteps. But suddenly, Fulen heard several undisguised footsteps from behind.

Fulen turned back curiously, only to see two gentlemen behind him catching up to the people ahead at a steady pace. One of them was the new Elder, Amadi. This Elder, seeing the person in front turn around, waved his arm kindly, and Fulen returned the greeting.

Fulen did not look closely at the other gentleman, but quickly turned back, catching up with Mr. Lefu's pace ahead. He then heard the sounds from behind become more urgent. Soon, Amadi's playful and joyful voice came from behind: "Gentlemen, please wait for me. Don't be so stiff. You're like Vampires following a normal human; I can't hear your footsteps at all. Relax, relax. Mr. Lefu won't eat you."

A lighthearted and cheerful tone is always the savior of a rigid atmosphere. The few Apprentices following Lefu, though not completely relaxed upon hearing Amadi's voice, were no longer so apprehensive.

Fulen wanted to see Lefu's reaction and found that the Elder didn't even turn around, just walked on his own, neither speeding up nor slowing down, lacking even the thought of looking back.

Elder Amadi behind also did not continue speaking, simply walking with a common, ordinary pace, while the gentleman beside him walked very lightly. After Fulen looked carefully behind him, he realized that the outline of this gentleman was clearly slender and delicate, possibly a lady.

Lefu did not stop on this floor, but walked to the stairs and led Fulen and the others up to the third floor. On this floor, the rooms suddenly became more numerous. Walking straight across from the stairs led to the room directly opposite the stairs, as if it separated the space before and after.

With only rustling sounds, Lefu led the Abrahams behind him into this room. The room itself was only lit by one or two solitary lamps. As the owner of the room lit the lamps one by one, Fulen saw the general layout of the room before him.

Clearly, the quantity of items Lefu had prepared far exceeded Fulen's imagination.
