Chapter 35 - Chapter 35 Iron Man VS Iron Overlord

"I have to thank those greedy terrorists," Obadiah said. "They didn't listen to me and killed you outright. I always thought that golden-egg-laying chicken of yours was worthless."

"Tony, I didn't expect you to surprise me. This is the biggest golden egg you've ever laid in your life."

As he spoke, Obadiah pulled a magnetic attachment from his arm—it was the same size as the arc reactor on Tony's chest.

"Tony, you really are a genius. This thing will change the world!"

Obadiah slammed the button, and the arc reactor slowly rose.

"It's beautiful! It's a piece of art, a perfect work of art! You know, I even built a suit stronger than your new toy just for this piece of art."

Obadiah admired the arc reactor in his hands, then glanced at Tony with contempt.

"You haven't grown an inch since you were 21. And you actually believed I would hand over the company to you!"

Obadiah waved dismissively and slapped Tony across the face.

"You want to buy my shares at 50% above market value? Kick me out of my kingdom? Tony, enjoy your final few minutes of life!"

"You won't be lonely. Pepper will be down to keep you company soon. She's a good woman, isn't she?"

Obadiah laughed as he left.

Tony collapsed onto the sofa, his neck stiff, trying to move but unable to even speak.

The clock on the wall ticked 193 times. Tony exhaled in relief.

"J.A.R.V.I.S., call Qin immediately and get him to Stark Industries. Pepper is in danger!"

After instructing J.A.R.V.I.S., Tony staggered toward the basement. He grabbed his phone and quickly dialed Pepper.

For some reason, her phone went unanswered.

He tumbled down the long staircase and finally reached his workbench—but even with all his effort, he couldn't reach it: the first-generation mini arc reactor repackaged by Pepper's company.

"Ah!"

Tony let out a hoarse roar. Without the arc reactor, could he even feel the shrapnel clogging his veins? It made no sense. Breathing itself became difficult.

"I hope Qin gets to the company quickly to save Pepper. She should be okay!"

Just as Tony was about to give up, his consciousness began to clear. A robotic metal arm—often mocked for being clumsy—seemed to sense its master's predicament.

It slowly moved from a distance. Then it swung the metal arm, knocking the arc reactor off the table.

The glass casing shattered instantly as it hit the ground.

Summoning every ounce of strength, Tony grabbed the arc reactor and jammed it directly into his chest.

"Good boy!"

He took a deep breath, praising the metal arm.

Finally, he felt alive again, a sense of survival washing over him.

"J.A.R.V.I.S., did you reach Qin?"

"Sorry, sir. Mr. Qin did not answer his phone."

"No time, Pepper!"

Pepper was invaluable to Tony. Once he recovered, he quickly donned his armor and had J.A.R.V.I.S. repeatedly call Pepper.

Fortunately, she answered just as he was flying to the company.

"Tony?"

Pepper, just finishing work, noticed her phone on the sofa—on silent—with a long list of missed calls from Tony Stark.

"Pepper, thank God you called me back. If you're still at the office, get out now! Obadiah stole my arc reactor and is secretly building a combat suit."

"Oh my God! Are you okay? Tony—I mean, without the reactor, what are you going to do?"

Like Tony, Pepper immediately worried for his safety.

"I'm fine. Luckily, you gave me Stark's heart. I'm fine. I'm heading to the company now. You need to leave immediately!"

"All right!"

Once Pepper knew Tony was safe, she hurried to the elevator—but she only made it to the company entrance.

The asphalt and concrete trembled violently.

A steel giant over three meters tall emerged from the secret underground lab.

"My God!"

Pepper stepped back, staring in shock at the iron behemoth.

"Pepper! Perfect timing! I'll have you meet up with Tony immediately!"

Obadiah controlled the Iron Behemoth, raising its iron right arm.

If Qin Xiao were here, he would marvel at fate's twists. Even his arrival had changed much of what would happen.

The construction of the iron armor had been completed two months earlier than planned—but some plot points still mirrored the original movie. Everything seemed preordained.

Just as Pepper was about to be shredded by the Gatling gun mounted on the Behemoth's right arm, Tony descended from the sky, wearing a suit.

"Whoosh!"

The sheer velocity hit the Behemoth's head and smashed both into the wall.

They rolled out into the busy street.

Two iron giants—one large, one smaller—plowed through a passing large truck.

Both landed in the middle of the road.

The massive Behemoth blocked a lane. Cars approaching had to swerve suddenly.

It's unclear how many vehicles collided in the chaos. Some behind had no idea what was happening and honked frantically.

Another car quickly changed lanes to avoid Iron Behemoth and Iron Man crossing the street—but the car behind was not so lucky. Going fast, it hit the brakes abruptly when the car in front swerved.

Right before colliding with the Behemoth, the SUV halted in front of him.

No time to breathe.

Obadiah raised the Behemoth from the ground.

Seeing the SUV, Tony acted immediately. The driver screamed as the car was lifted and wielded like a weapon.

"Focus all energy on the chest!"

Tony glanced at the driver and shouted.

His chest reactor glowed brightly. A laser cannon, thicker than his palm, fired fiercely.

He knocked the Iron Behemoth to the ground multiple times.

Then Tony extended both hands.
