INT. PADDY'S PUB — CONTINUOUS
The Lawyer unfurls a stack of blueprints across the bar. They are stained with yellow rings and smell faintly of curdled dairy.
LAWYER
Due to the original deed of this property being drafted on the back of a damp placemat from a closed-down Bennigan's...
(He flips a page with professional flourish)
...and notarized by a man who spelled his own name with a number instead of a vowel, the property line is a disaster. It turns out, this establishment extends exactly four feet into the neighboring plot.
MAC
So? We own that plot. We own the alley.
LAWYER
No, you don't. The McPoyles just purchased it with settlement money from what I can only assume was a milk-based industrial accident.
Liam and Ryan lean forward, peering toward the far-left wall. Liam licks his lips. Ryan makes a soft, clicking sound in the back of his throat.
LAWYER
Legally speaking, you have twenty-four hours to demolish...
(The Lawyer points a pen at the wall labeled MARIA)
...that wall.
Dead silence falls over the bar.
FRANK (screaming, genuinely devastated)
NO! NOT MARIA!
LAWYER (pauses, squinting in pure disgust)
...I'm sorry. Why does your wall have a name?
FRANK (scoffing, looking at the Gang for support)
Look at this guy! He doesn't know the names! They all got names, pal!
FRANK (pointing to the left)
You know Maria. She protects us from the alley-scum. She's our first line of defense!
FRANK (pointing to the back wall)
That's Rose. She's a slut. She lets anyone lean on her.
FRANK (clicking his teeth, pointing toward the bathrooms)
And that's Sina. She's the inner circle. She keeps the waste contained. She's the elite!
LAWYER (blinks repeatedly, eye twitching)
Okay... anyway. It's a structural encroachment. You have twenty-four hours to demolish the "Maria" section, or the McPoyles will be legally authorized to—and I quote the filing here—"breach the perimeter."
DENNIS (leaning in with a smug, sociopathic grin)
Well, Lawyer... I suppose you could say that, for the first time in history... we're really backed against the wall.
The Lawyer stares at Dennis for a long, exhausted beat, then simply turns and walks out.
CUT TO BLACK.
