Chapter 4 - CHAPTER 4 – MORE MASSACRE

Rin slowly awakened from her slumber with difficulty, the sun ray hit her face like a warm whisper, coaxing her to open her eyes. She did, with a slight difficulty, blinking a few times as the room came into focus. She sat up, her eyes flickering as she scanned everywhere with curiosity.

Her gaze landed on a familiar figure, and her expression changed, a frown etching her face. Elara sat on a stool opposite the bed, her eyes expressionless, her voice almost monotone.

"You are up. Good."

Rin's eyes flashed with anger, hurt simmering beneath the surface. "Is that all you have to say?" she asked, her voice laced with accusation.

Elara's words seemed to cut through Rin, leaving her feeling hurt and a little lost. She looked at Elara, really looked, and saw a stranger staring back at her. Where was the warmth, the laughter, the connection they once shared? It was like Elara had built a wall around herself, and Rin didn't know how to reach her.

Rin's anger and hurt mingled, creating a bitter taste in her mouth. She felt like she was staring at a stranger, not the Elara she once knew.

Elara's expression remained calm, her voice steady, "You slept for quite a while, you will need some food before the journey."

Rin let out a self-deprecating laugh, her eyes flashing with anger. "Oh, this is just great." Her voice dripped with sarcasm. "But I just want to let you know, I don't need your pity."

Elara stood, her face expressionless, her voice steady. "Considering your features, I guess it's not really necessary to eat."

Rin's anger boiled over. "Just get out!" she yelled, her voice raw with emotion.

Elara turned and walked out of the room, her movements calm and deliberate. The door closed behind her, and Rin let out a scream of frustration, grabbing the nearest object, a vase, and flung it against the door. The vase shattered into a hundred pieces, the sound of shattering glass echoing through the room.

Rin slumped onto the bed, her chest heaving with ragged breaths, her eyes fixed on the broken pieces of the vase, she turned and buried her head on the pillow her body shuddered as she sobbed silently.

Rin's eyelids drooped, her anger slowly

wearing off, leaving her feeling exhausted. She felt herself drifting off, her body sinking into the mattress, when the door creaked open. Her eyes snapped wide open, alert, and her expression twisted into irritation.

"What do you want?" Rin growled, her voice low and icy.

Elara's gaze flicked to the shattered vase, then back to Rin, her expression unruffled. "There have been some changes. Get ready, we're leaving."

Rin's anger surged back to life. "You wish." She spat "I am not living with you. "

Elara set a tray of food down on a nearby table, her movements economical. "You don't have a choice," she said, her voice steady.

Rin's anger flared. "Who even are you, to think you can dictate my life whenever you want?" Her voice rose, her words tumbling out in a furious torrent. "You just wade in here, acting like you're in charge, like you have some kind of claim on me. Newsflash, Elara: you're not my keeper. You're not even my family."

Elara's mask slipped, ever so slightly, a flicker of...something...in her eyes. But her voice remained steady, her words a cold, hard slap. "I'm the one who's trying to keep you alive, Rin. And if you don't get ready, I'll carry you out of here myself."

Rin's eyes widened, her anger and hurt wiping away her fatigue. She tossed off the covers, her movements jerky, and swung her legs over the side of the bed. "Get. Out," she growled, her voice low and menacing.

Elara's blank stare seemed to bore into Rin, her expression unchanging. But for a moment, Rin thought she saw something flicker in her eyes, a glimmer of... something. It was gone in an instant, replaced by the cold, detached mask.

Rin's words tumbled out, a desperate, broken plea. "I just wanna know what happened, why are you doing this, did I do something to upset you? Just please... I can't take it anymore... who are you, what are you, and why are you doing this?"

Her voice cracked, and she broke down, sobs wracking her body. She felt lost, alone, and shattered, like she was staring into the abyss with no way out. The tears streamed down her face, and she didn't care, she just wanted answers, she just wanted to know why Elara was doing this to her.

Elara's expression didn't change, her voice remained steady, but her words were like a knife to Rin's heart. "You're emotional. We'll discuss this when you're calm."

As Elara turned to leave, Rin's anger and desperation boiled over. "Just who are you?" she screamed, her voice raw, her heart racing.

In a fit of rage, she grabbed the glass of orange juice Elara had brought and hurled it at her. The glass flew through the air, the liquid splashing, and hit Elara squarely in the face. The glass shattered into pieces, the sound of breaking glass echoing through the room.

Rin's anger was instantly replaced by horror as she realized Elara hadn't dodged. She stood frozen, her eyes wide with shock, as Elara's face was suddenly covered in blood. The metallic scent filled the air, making Rin's stomach churn.

"Oh no, Elara, I–" she stammered, her voice trembling and filled with guilt.

But Elara didn't react. She didn't flinch, didn't move, didn't even seem to breathe. She just stood there, blood trickling down her face, her eyes... unnerving.

And then, Rin saw it. The cuts on Elara's face began to heal, the skin knitting itself together at an alarming rate. The bleeding slowed, then stopped, leaving Elara's face bloody, but unmarked.

Rin's horror gave way to confusion, and then to a growing sense of unease. She crawled backwards, her eyes fixed on Elara, as the other woman approached her, each step deliberate, her eyes... piercing.

"Do you have a hunch of what I am now?" Elara asked, her voice still devoid of emotion, her face still smeared with blood.

Rin instinctively shrank further into the bed in fear as Elara's cold gaze seemed to bore into her soul. However, Elara stopped, her expression unchanging. "I will go clean this off. By then, you should be ready to leave. Got that."

Rin was filled with anger once again, but at the same time, she was terrified of Elara. She managed a nod, her eyes fixed on Elara's retreating form.

As soon as Elara walked out, Rin shed a tear, her emotions in turmoil. She got up, her movements mechanical, and began to pack her things, her mind numb.

Suddenly, the window shattered into pieces, the sound of breaking glass making her jump. Rin quickly hid, shielding herself from the shards of glass that flew everywhere.

A bloody hand emerged from the window, followed by a figure who pulled himself up and climbed into the room. Rin's eyes widened in shock as she took in the figure's appearance - it was a man with long, matted hair and pale skin. The man's eyes locked onto Rin, and he smiled, revealing his long, pointed fangs. "Hello," he said, his voice raspy. "I have been looking for you."

Just as he finished speaking, a loud bang sounded, followed by a bloody hole that appeared in the man's chest. The man turned, and Elara fired another shot. Blood splashed as the man's almost headless body fell out of the window.

Rin shuddered, but Elara failed to take notice of Rin's reaction. "They found us. Should leave now." She commanded, her voice cold and detached.

Rin nodded, her bag in hand, and followed Elara. As they walked, Elara's calm expression suddenly became panicked. "He is coming."

The two women ran across the hallway, Rin cowering behind Elara as she moved, her dual pistols blazing, taking down the pale-faced enemies with every shot. A pale-faced enemy who emerged from the window unfortunately got hit in the head, causing immediate death.

"Stay here," Elara said calmly as she skidded forward toward a group of pale-faces who emerged from the entrance. With two shots, two of them were brought down with a half-intact head. She drew out a dagger and swung it at one of the pale figures, instantly decapitating him.

One of the pale-faces swung his sickle at her head. "Aunt, watch out!" Rin called.

Elara instinctively bowed, avoiding the strike. She kicked one of her feet off the ground and instantly disarmed him. She turned and slashed viciously at his neck, blood spilling out like a fountain as he clatched his neck, grievously injured but alive. At the same time, she sent another attacker flying with a kick. The force was so great that his body was splattered against the wall, ending his life gruesomely.

She wrapped her arm around the injured pale-face and ended him with a stab to his temple. Rin watched these with amazement and horror, amazed at Elara's profound combat skills, and at the same time, afraid of how she killed without thought. She was typically like a killing machine.

Elara stood in the heap of corpses, her chest heaving slightly, her eyes scanning the area. She glanced at Rin, her voice steady and monotone. "We move now."

Rin obliged, her eyes fixed on Elara's back, her mind reeling with questions. Who was this woman? What was she? And what was happening?

As they walked, the silence was oppressive, the only sound was the squelching of their boots on the bloody floor. Rin's eyes darted around, taking in the carnage, her stomach churning with nausea.

They reached the main entrance of the big house and Elara started down, her movements fluid and efficient. Rin followed, her heart pounding in her chest, her mind raced with fear and uncertainty.

Whole walking Rin felt something was of about the attackers first she was attacked in her home now they attacked almost in the exact same way and to make matters worse no one appeared to live in this large house though she stayed quiet the unsettling feeling made her even more curious her eyes met Elara as she asked, "Why isn't anyone living here." She envisioned that with the amount of chaos that happened here the some people like the cops should have shown up earlier.

Elara stopped walking her eyes flickered with hatred and anger.

"we were betrayed ."
