I woke up to the sound of my head pounding. Ugh, what happened last night? I slowly sat up and looked around the room, and my heart skipped a beat. Lee Joon-ho was lying beside me.
Did I really sleep with my best friend? I racked my brain, trying to piece together the night before. I remembered going to the club and having a few drinks... alone. Then I got into a fight with some guy who was being touchy with me, and Lee Joon-ho showed up out of nowhere to save me. But how did we end up here?
"Good Morning, Angel," Lee Joon-ho said, making me almost fall off the bed. Before I could respond, he got up and handed me a glass of water and some tablets. "Here, it'll make you feel better."
I looked at the tablets, swallowing hard. I wasn't a fan of medicines, Just when I was becoming reluctant, he spoke again. "It's not bitter, Soo-jin. Just take it."
I looked at his face, examining it. He was a handsome man, and a gentle one at that. His hair and glasses made him stand out from other guys. Did I forget he was one of the most handsome bachelors in the whole of Bokjin?
I finally took the water and tablets, swallowing them in a gulp. I returned the empty glass to him and watched as he dropped it on the counter.
"Lee Joon-ho?" I called softly.
"Yes?" He smiled at me.
"Did... did we do anything?" I stammered, looking away.
He chuckled. "You don't remember anything?"
I shook my head, feeling embarrassed.
"After so long, Soo-jin, you finally confessed your feelings for me."
My head spun. "Feelings? Lee Joon-ho....."
"I love you too, Soo-jin..." He cut me off, and I was forced to look at him.
"No way," I whispered, covering my face. This was bad. So bad.
"Soo-jin, I've always loved you," he said, his voice low and sincere. "Right from when we were kids. I was going to propose when we were older, but then your dad announced you were betrothed to Jin-woo."
I winced at the mention of my husband. Lee Joon-ho's face twisted in anger, but he smoothed it out. "Hearing you confess gave me hope, Soo-jin."
I looked away, my mind racing. I had feelings for Lee Joon-ho, I couldn't deny it anymore. But I was married.
"Lee Joon-ho, I... I can't do this," I said, trying to sound firm.
He nodded, but I saw the disappointment in his eyes. "Think about it, okay?"
I jumped out of bed, panicked. I needed to get home. Jin-woo was probably looking for me, I dressed quickly, Lee Joon-ho's eyes on me the whole time.
As I rushed out of the hotel room, he caught my hand. "Soo-jin, please think about it."
I nodded and pulled my hand free, hailing a taxi on the street.
In the cab, I fished out my phone and realized it was off. I turned it on, and a shiver ran down my spine. Did Lee Joon-ho turn it off to keep me from leaving?
Truth be told, he is handsome – his sharp jawline, those glasses, the way his hair curled slightly at the nape... Stop it, Soo-jin.
My phone buzzed to life, and Jin-woo's name flashed on the screen. I hesitated before answering.
"Where are you?" he asked, his voice calm but with a hint of worry.
"I'm... on my way home," I lied.
"Okay. Be careful."
I ended the call and glanced out the window, watching the city and moving cars. This has always been my life, although Jim woo was rich but I couldn't bring myself to love him. My heart had always belong to another but I was trapped in this loveless marriage.
The taxi pulled up to the mansion gates, I stepped out and paid.
"Keep the change". The taxi man thanked me and drove off. The security guards greeted me as I entered and I forced a smile. Was I going to keep living like this? Deceiving Jin-woo and hurting him.
