Chapter 8 - 8: Blood in the snow [1]

"Yuno, what happened to Asta! Why is he so beaten up?" I shouted and ran even faster to catch up with them.

"Wendy, Asta was... he was hurt saving me," tears began to fall from Yuno's eyes.

"It's all right, Wendy, they're just some bruises," Asta's voice sounded quite weak.

I reached Asta's side and said, "Don't talk nonsense, Asta, these aren't just any bruises."

Using wind healing magic, I began to heal Asta.

A greenish-blue sphere of light emanated from Wendy's hands.

Little by little, the wounds on Asta's face disappeared.

Thanks to the healing magic, Asta fell asleep.

"It's done," I said as the magic faded from my hands.

"Yuno, stop crying, you're worse than a little girl."

"But, but Asta, he's, he's..." Yuno's voice was filled with sadness.

"Asta is just sleeping, he'll be fine tomorrow morning," I said as I took Asta from Yuno's shoulders.

Calmly, I carried Asta on my shoulders, like a sack of potatoes.

"Come on, Yuno, Sister asked me to look for you both, it's been quite a while."

As we walked slowly out of the village, I asked Yuno,

"Yuno, why was Asta beaten up so badly?"

"When I was returning from delivering the letter to the mayor, a man tried to steal my necklace, and Asta fought to get my necklace back."

After a few minutes of explanation from Yuno, we arrived at the church.

"Sister, I brought Yuno and Asta back," I said as I set Asta down on the ground.

"My God, Asta, what happened to you!" exclaimed Sister Lily.

Running towards Asta, and taking out her grimoire, Sister Lily began to use healing magic.

After all, I had only used enough healing magic so that Asta wouldn't be in pain anymore.

Hearing Sister Lily's voice, Asta woke up. "Ah, sister... marry me," Asta said in a trembling voice before falling asleep again.

"Asta, hang in there," Yuno's worried voice sounded next to Asta.

After taking Asta to Sister Lily's bed, the day ended.

The next morning.

Time: 5:25 am.

"AAAAH!"

A terrified scream echoed throughout Hage Village, a scream so loud it was heard in the Hage church.

"What's happening!"

"AHHHH, it's a corpse!"

"There's a murderer in the village!"

"It can't be, who would be so cruel?"

"They cut him into pieces, how many pieces are there?"

"I didn't look closely, but there are more than 10."

"My God, I can't believe it."

"Such a cruel murderer."

"Do you remember who the corpse is?"

"If I'm right, it's the drunkard Berton."

"What? It's just Berton."

"That person was just a nuisance to the village."

"That's true, but it's still a murder in the village."

And so, the whole village murmured about the murder.

Shortly after, they simply buried the body and that was the end of it.

After all, they couldn't call a magic knight because of how far Hage Village was from the capital.

Three days later.

In the church.

Current time: 4:36 a.m.

In the orphans' shared room.

Wendy was lying on the floor with her eyes open.

Shortly after, Wendy slowly stood up.

Without thinking too much, Wendy walked towards the door and left the room.

With silent steps, Wendy naturally entered the kitchen.

With smooth movements, Wendy began to cook a single sweet potato.

'How troublesome, I haven't been able to sleep tonight, what could be the problem?' I thought.

'The day I killed the drunkard I slept peacefully, but today I couldn't sleep.'

'Every time I close my eyes I only see blood.' "Although I'm not afraid of a certain degree of terror, seeing a corpse and blood while sleeping is very uncomfortable."

"But what does it matter? I'm quite adaptable."

Shortly after, I eat the nomato while walking towards the demon's skull.

I sigh.

Mist comes out of my mouth as I walk through the snow, leaving footprints that mark the path.

What I'm wearing right now is normal clothing, not winter clothes.

After all, the church doesn't have a stable income for such things.

Besides, my physique as a dragon slayer is quite resistant to temperature changes.

I plan to try learning Shunko, but I don't have much hope of learning the complete Shunko at this stage.

After all, Shunko is based on combining hand-to-hand combat with magic, concentrating enormous amounts of mana in the user's back and shoulders and directing it at will.

To use Shunko, one must have a lot of mana control and a constant release of mana.

And practicing it requires tearing the upper body clothing.

But in my current circumstances, that's not suitable for the church.

We are poor and don't have money to waste.

So I can only practice Shunko without the upper body clothing.

But that doesn't embarrass me; the reason is, I'm only a 7-year-old girl. My body isn't much different from a boy's.

Besides, my body doesn't have much potential for development.

But that's good for me.

After all, even though I won't be able to grope soft breasts without anyone knowing, at least I'll have good mobility in combat, which is the most important thing.

I know what my priorities are for the future, and I don't think about lustful things all day.

Even in my previous life, when I was a man, I only had lustful thoughts for a few minutes until I relieved myself or while I was watching the videos that all men know about.

My attitude is "priorities first, secondary things later."

But the truth is, I'd like to know what I would look like with Wendy's (Edolas) appearance in real life.

But as I already said, mobility and flexibility in combat come first.

I stop thinking about unnecessary things, take off my shirt, and hang it on a tree branch.

My goal is to learn basic Shunko in at least one year.

After all, even though I have Ram's talent, the world has strict yet flexible rules.

As Mereoleona Vermillion demonstrates, you can be strong without a grimoire if you work hard enough and have great talent.

But to be truly strong, you need a grimoire.

Because a grimoire enhances the user's spells and rapidly increases the user's innate ability to release mana.

Even if your grimoire is stolen or destroyed by someone, your mana release capacity will remain the same as when you had your grimoire.

But the only disadvantage is that you won't be able to use the complex spells from the grimoire.

But the spells you learned before obtaining the grimoire can be used without problems.

After all, you learned them before obtaining the grimoire.

And regarding the spells after obtaining the grimoire, with practice you can use the not-so-complex magic that you learned after obtaining the grimoire.

For example, Captain Yami and his Dimensional Slash is a complex spell that was only performed instinctively the first time, and then the Dimensional Slash was registered in the grimoire.

Those spells cannot be used without the grimoire. On the other hand, the tornado that Yuno used in the Magic Knights battle is a spell that can be used with or without a grimoire.

After all, Yuno created that spell before obtaining his grimoire.

The spell was so powerful in the Magic Knights entrance exam battle because his grimoire amplified it. Furthermore, having a four-leaf grimoire means his mana release rate increases much faster, which boosted the amount of mana in the spell.

Therefore, with practice, I can increase my proficiency in Shunko.

Although I don't think my Shunko will be the same as the one in the Bleach world.

The reason is simple: in the Black Clover world, humans cannot use mana without attributes, and no matter how hard you try, if you only use pure mana, the mana will still have the characteristic of the magic you use.

For example, the simple telekinesis that everyone who uses magic can perform.

When people wrap objects in mana, the objects have an aura the color of their magic's attribute.

So, if you use pure mana, it will still have the attribute of your magic.

Like the sea, which is an area of water mana.

So I'm not entirely sure if Shunko will work out, but I think it will.
