Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

"Hey kid, you alive?" I barely make out those words as I throw myself to sit up in defense, still groggy from just waking up. "Woah, calm down kid," the man in front of me says with a snicker as he puts his hands up to show that he's friendly. I glare at him as I stand up, not fully as I'm used to slouching. The man has short red hair that's fluffed back, with an undercut, something to also note is that he has a scar running across the corner of his lip, not too big but not exactly small either. He's wearing a simple black compression shirt with a red cropped coat, and some beige collared baggy pants. Last night I guess I must have passed out in this dingy alleyway, not that I can really recall it. "Names Vic kid, what's yours?" the man asks, still crouched even though I stood up.

"And why should I give you my name?" I spat out at him, venom laced in my voice as I still stood on guard.

"I'll buy you food?" I stay silent, like I would ever fall for that. "Fine how 'bout food and a place to sleep? Hmm?" he says with a little hum at the end, he stands up fully. He's tall even at my full height I would probably only reach his chin.

"I'll take you up on the food thing.." I mutter whilst scowling, when was the last time I had a proper meal that wasn't just garbage, maybe a week now, maybe longer. Since I'm trying to quit doing that."It's Valya." I said a bit louder in case he couldn't hear me, since I was not about to repeat myself.

"See, kid, that wasn't so hard now was it? Anyway, where ya wanna go?" Vic says, as he makes a move to exit the dingy, gross alleyway, a logo on the back of his red coat catches my eye, I swear I've seen it before.

"Radio-active is the closest." I mutter, as I follow after him, radio-active is the only business that I go to since it's very cheap and a nice old lady runs it.

"You go there too? Been tryin' forever to get my squad members to go there!" he said with a loud laughter. "And not to mention grandma Agani has awesome stories!" I just hummed in response, not used to being near someone so chatty unless they were talking shit.

"I want a toasted sandwich with tomatoes, lettuce, and turkey." Vic nods, as we come to a stop in front of Radio-active.

"Yoo! Grandma!" Vic calls out as he pushes open the red door with glass on it, the bell above the door rings.

"Oh the handsome man is back!" Grandma Agani says with a chuckle,

"One BTL and one toasted sandwich with tomatoes, lettuce and turkey!" Vic says loudly, he really needs to learn how to keep his voice down. Grandma Agani nods as she leaves to go prepare it.

It's very empty in the restaurant, but that's not very surprising since based off of the sun it's early in the morning.

"You're a quiet kid huh?" Vic said, pulling me right out of my thoughts as I turned to look up at him.

"No, I just don't wanna talk to you." I say glaring up at him before turning away again. Vic bursts out into laughter, I look back at him with a puzzled look on my face.

"Jeez kid, lighten up wont ya, i dont bite!" Vic said as he put a hand on his stomach, probably having a cramp from laughing too much. I deadpan at him, my face goes blank, looking away as I just mentally note to ignore him until I get my sandwich.

"So kid, what do you like to do?" Vic asks, I just ignore him, not even bothering to look at him this time. "Dont tell me you're ignoring me now." He responds to my silence by snickering. I still don't answer him. As I notice grandma Agani coming back out with a brown paper bag, I'm guessing it had our sandwiches. "Thanks grandma!" Vic calls out as he hands over some money and grabs the paper bag. "Alright let's go tiny chips!" I stop in my tracks, staring at him dumbfounded, that's the stupidest nickname I've ever heard, and I'm not even tiny! I'm average, thank you very much! "What? Don't like the nickname?" Vic said with a teasing voice as he pulled out a sandwich with the letters LTT.

"Dont ever call me that if you still wanna live." I said with a disgusted look as I glared at him, snatching the sandwich from his hand. He bursts out into laughter for like the tenth time since I met him.

"Dont worry, just teasing ya." Vic says once his laughing has died down, we exit the restaurant, Vic already chewing on his BLT sandwich. "Ya would get along real well with my squad mates," Vic said with a sarcastic undertone. Vic suddenly looks down, looking at his wrist where an old watch lays. "Well kid, ill see ya, gotta run." Vic says waving goodbye to me as I just stand there, outside of Radio-active. I watch his back as he jogs down the sidewalk.

I look down at the wrapped sandwich in my hand, scoffing as I unwrap it, walking the opposite way of Vic. my mind is just empty, im not exactly sure what to think of Vic. I chew through my sandwich slowly, walking to wherever my feet take me as i dont exactly have a place to go back to.

After about 30 minutes of walking to who knows where, I throw the sandwich wrapper away onto the ground, "my head hurts.." I mutter to myself, annoyed and pissed off. Headaches are the fuckin worst, all they do is just get in the way.

I grumble, jumping slightly as somebody grabs my shoulder roughly, I whip my head around, slapping his hand off my shoulder in the process.

"Yo, aren't you that bitchass short stack that messed with us a few weeks back?" the man in front of me says with a smirk, tilting his head in mockery, a group of people standing behind him. Before they get another word out I burst into a sprint. I hear shouts from behind as the pittering of footsteps start.

I quickly scan the alleyway, spotting and emergency fire staircase on the side of a building. I jump grabbing onto the ledge of one of the railings, I pull myself up quickly climbing the stairs. I glance down, seeing a group of men climb the stairs after me. I click my tongue once I reach the top of the fire escape stairs, jumping over to a window ledge to get higher before jumping and grabbing onto the edge of the roof. Pulling myself up to the roof, I quickly ran and jumped to the next one, doing a roll to safely land on the lower roof. "Stupid fucks." I grumble as I smirk to myself.

I continued jumping from roof to roof, the shouting slowly fading off into the distance as I got further and further from the place I climbed up at. Breathing heavily, I sit down on the ledge of a roof, looking down at the people just doing their daily things. I put my elbow on my knee propping my head up on my hand, stupid fucks made my headache worse. "Huh.." I mutter to myself as I look down at a red haired male in the distance. There's two other people with him, a short female, and a male slightly smaller than Vic.

The girl has a dull shade of blue hair that's tied back in a ponytail, wearing a purple oversized shirt that goes to her upper thighs, there's white bandages that decorate her legs, and a light shade of brown boots that come up right below her knee. From where I'm sitting, her back is to me, with vic being the only one facing my direction in a way, she doesn't seem to have that symbol on her like vic, at least not from what i can see.

The male that stands next to the blue haired girl is dressed in a simple black turtle neck without sleeves, a white jacket tied around his waist with a logo on the back, the same one that vic had on his coat, paired with green pants, a bit loose on the bottom as it looks like part of the back drags along the ground, due to it being all ripped. His hair reminds me of the pictures I've seen of what's called a 'jellyfish', a clear cut from his top black hair and a longer underside of blonde.

Whatever, it's not like anything Vic does is my business nor do I care. Well maybe just a bit, but that's just normal curiosity. I sigh, tensing up as vic and I make eye contact. I look away, getting up as I walk to the opposite side of the building's roof. I look for the emergency that I can jump down to, noticing them on the side of the building I walk over to it, jumping down onto the small platform before walking down the metal stairs.

I should probably find somewhere safe to sleep tonight, preferably somewhere high this time so those fatasses don't stumble across me. I've pissed off so many people that I can't even remember their names. Although, some of them aren't even alive anymore. I walk through the small alleyway I dropped down into, I should probably go down to the city center, usually the most activity is down near the edges, where I'm currently at. Wait, where am I?

I quickly turn to the road, looking for an intersection for a sign, or a person for that matter. I quickly make it to the intersection where the road makes a cross, I eye the green road sign, Scofield rd. Like I know where that is,well shit.

I've been walking for a little while, preferably looking for an inn of some type. Ever since I quit doing that I've been quite bored everyday,I'm not sure what I wanna do, it's not like I regret leaving, if anything I'm still very happy with my choice. Maybe I should try and start my own shop, flowers maybe?

I stuff my hands in my pockets looking up at the sky as I stop walking. I should find somewhere to work. So I enter the first shop I see, which happens to be a clothing shop.

"Yo yo yo! What can I get ya!" A hyper male says as he pops up from behind the counter, he's tall. At least a decent amount of inches taller than I am, blond hair that goes a bit past his shoulders, his bangs swept to the left side of his face. A bright orange color on the tips of his hair. One thing I note is the tattoo on his exposed shoulder, I remember that symbol but I can't remember where.

"You hiring?" I question the man behind the counter.

"You wanna be a model!" The man says, I'm pretty sure that was not a question..

"Sure." I responded.

"You hired woo!" The man shouts as he points at me, he turns quickly before going to the back. I stand there dumbfounded, and very confused. Is this how all hirings go? I slowly inch towards the back. Wondering if he wanted me to follow him. I peek inside the door behind the counter that leads to the back. It's a mess of mannequins, clothing and cloth everywhere, drawings of clothing littered the walls.

I jump in surprise as my arm gets grabbed and yanked, I fall into the room, I catch myself before I fall luckily.

"Yo asshole you ca-" I get cut off by a piece of cloth hitting me in the face. Somehow, someway this man was already across the room, even though he had just pulled me in here. Look around the messy, almost disastrous room, cloth and clothing thrown everywhere, pages of paper with what I'm assuming those scribbles are, clothing designs. I just stare at the man who's shifting through the piles of cloth frantically, I just sit up silently, just watching the man before he turns back to me. A wide smile on his face. He holds out a pile of clothing.

"Work uniform!" the man says before rushing over to his desk, a sewing machine starting up. I stand up, brushing off my clothing and I exit his office.. thingy. Going out and spotting a bathroom to change in.

The outfit in itself isn't very revealing, having simple black parachute pants, a black body suit with the hips exposed and no sleeves, though the body suit is a bit loose on me, harem pants that go to my ankles, I push them up a bit so they can sit comfortably above my boots.a shoulder crop that goes down to a bit above my belly button. The shoulder crop has sleeves that crop around my wrists.

I exit the bathroom going back to the man's office. "Yo, man. What's your name again?"I question the man as I enter the room without knocking. He whips his head towards me, the same big smile appearing on his face.

"Ya can just call me irui!" He says laughing maniacly as he turns around grabbing something before standing up and rushing over to me. A measuring tape in his hand,

"Cool. You can call me Valya." I say letting him take my measurements, he nods, going over to his desk as he finishes taking my measurements.

"Go over there. Shoo." The man says as he pushes me out of his workspace. I go over to the front desk, where I first met irui. I pull the chair closer to the front desk, not about to stand for a prolonged period of time.

It's been about half an hour, wait, how long do I have to work again? Did irui even tell me? Whatever, he should come out and tell me anyway.

The door rings, the bell on top getting hit by the door, a blue haired woman walks in. Oh, it's the girl I saw earlier with Vic.

"Irui!" She calls out as she enters, her amber eyes catching mine. "Oh you're not Irui. Sorry." she says going silent, walking around the store eventually going out of my sight as she heads to the women section. I stand up, going over to irui's office door, I knock before opening the door.

"Irui. a blue haired girl is here that said your name." I say standing at the door. Irui stands up extremely fast, sliding over to me as he pops his head out his office door.

"LAYVERNN." The man screams out for the woman, whose name I now just found out.

"irui~ my guy~ I came for the outfit~" the woman comes from around the corner, her eyes fully on irui.

"I got it!" Irui says quickly going back in, leaving Layvern and I just standing there, not for long as he comes back out with a bag full of clothing.

"You got a new employee?" Layvern says to Irui as they head over to the cash register, Irui just nods. "Your name?" She questions as she pays.

"Valya." I say although a bit unwillingly.

"I'm Layvern Dyre, but you can just call me Layvern, or even Lay as my friends call me." She says with a smile, winking as she turns around to leave. I just look at irui.

"Regular." He says before speeding back off to the back room.
