It felt cold.
Everything did.
I could feel the pain rushing through my mind.
Shattered like glass , my body lay on the ground.
The cold , dead hands still holding onto my broken and ripped legs.
"Just tell us. Where is the queen?"
He again asked me the same question I have been refusing to answer.
The living cannot defeat the dead.
But it doesn't mean that they will simply surrender, no.
I was neither dead nor living.
It matters not if I die.
It matters not if l live.
All that matters is that I wish to be by her side.
And protecting the queen will lead me to that goal.
*STUMP*
He punched my arms again.
Torture.
Or atleast the very best he could attempt at torture.
"Killing me would be easier no?"
I asked.
Silence.
He punched again barely missing my head.
"If I kill you , you'll simply come back. Just as you did so no, it's not easier for me.
I know your secrets. Your body provided us with the knowledge to ascend death itself and combine ourselves into the form you see.
By letting you die , we are letting you go and by that we are letting that knowledge roam free in the world."
Ah I see so that's why they were dead.
It makes some sense, it's a bit far fetched but it makes sense enough.
"So you plan on keeping me captive forever?"
I asked.
"No. We planning on eating you and your soul."
A smile appeared on its face.
An immense smile.
Almost as if he thought of himself as an actual God in this situation...
I knew it would eventually come down to this.
And I was prepared for it .
"Try it. You might not find me to taste very good."
I replied.
"Aaaghhhh"
It opened its mouth.
Four human mouths existed inside of its god like mouth .
All slowly moving, in a primitive and instinctive fashion.
Slowly I was inserted in.
*Crack*
My bones were pulverized by the teeth.
My flesh ruptured.
My vessel burst.
The sensation of my eyes slowly popping as the teeth inserted itself deeper and deeper until it finally reached my brain.
I screamed.
Not for help.
But for departure from my mortal form.
I was dead .
Silence filled the air.
The dead was now truly dead.
But that's not something I will ever have the luxury of.
I will never ever have the fucking luxury of death.
I laughed.
I could sense my soul being devoured alongside my body.
"Fools."
In the distance I could see a light.
Four lights to be exact.
Four souls burning brightly.
I slowly walked towards them. Or drifted.
The four knights stood there in their human forms.
Unable to move.
Unable to speak.
"Did you genuinely think it'd be that easy?
The dead cannot take 'the living' in them can they? " I laughed at their mistake.
Indeed I was dead.
But I still remained alive in some aspects.
Taking my body was something they could do, but by taking my soul they took that "life" with them.
The dead met life.
As the heavens shall never touch the earth, the dead shall never know life.
Poison.
That is what I was to them.
Poison.
I looked at them.
Unable to move.
Helpless.
"Allow me to help you properly pass on gentlemen."
I grabbed their faces.
I could see the fear reflected in their eyes.
The fear of remembering what they did to me.
The fear that I remembered what they did to me.
I had finally gotten a chance for revenge.
And oh so sweet a chance this was.
I devoured their souls like they devoured mine, only this time they could feel it , each bite they could feel it.
The pain lingered in the soul not the body.
Mortal wounds can be dealt with time but what can heal the wounds of the soul?
Nothing.
Nothing, unless you are an undead or a higher being.
I laughed as I ate.
And soon.

I could feel my arm touching the ground.
I opened the close mouth and crawled out from its stomach.
"Great job. I didn't expect you to do that."
"You didn't expect me to win in the first place."
The queen had been there, waiting for me.
She had a look of immense happiness on her face , as if she had been enjoying herself.
"I fulfilled my side of the deal. Can you tell me what I want to know now?"
"Ofcourse sweetie. Your beautiful little lover is above us."
