Chapter 22 - Chapter 22: Idolization

"Aunt, there you are!"

As Amabel and Beatrix were busy chatting with a group of young wives, a sharp voice called out making Beatrix to turn her head as a frown formed on her face.

The other younger wives upon hearing that calling, also turned their heads in the same direction, wondering whose niece this young lady was.

The first thing that came to Amabel's mind upon seeing the young lady was, 'It's a small world!' as she recognized the person without missing a bit.

At the same time, the niece with a sharp voice was also stunned upon seeing someone familiar. She couldn't believe her eyes at all. All focus suddenly shifted to Amabel and Beatrix noticed that.

"Do you know her?" Beatrix asked as she nudged Amabel.

Amabel scratched her nose sheepishly as she answered in a lowered voice, "She is a junior. Crossed paths several times," and answered truthfully.

"Was it good or bad?"

Amabel didn't need to bother thinking hard about it as the answer was already at the tip of her tongue, "the good kind."

Upon hearing that, Beatrix sighed with relief. It would be bad if these two couldn't see eye to eye.

Meanwhile, the niece, once the surprise passed, her eyes sparkled as she sped up, walking towards to Amabel, and the young wives could tell that this niece had good feelings towards Amabel. Even Amabel herself was quite taken aback.

"Senior Amabel, is this you?" Berth called out excitedly as she approached Amabel.

Amabel smiled politely as she looked at this junior, who was always enthusiastic whenever they met in school.

"Yes, it's me. It's been a while, junior Berth," Amabel politely said, and greeted this junior who had never caused her harm.

Berth was so excited. She stood in front of Amabel, her eyes sparkling and excitedly responded, "Senior, you remember my name?" her voice tinged with excitement and disbelief.

All the numerous times that they have met, Amabel had never shown that she knew her name. She was so happy to know that her senior remembered her.

Amabel didn't expect Beatrix's niece to be so ... extroverted and an entertaining one. What was so special about recalling names?

Unfortunately, she underestimated how much Berth liked her.

"We have bumped into each other several times. It will be unexpected if I can't even remember your name, right?"

It wasn't like she was dumb and couldn't remember people's names.

Berth happily grinned and looked at her Aunt with a softened gaze.

"Aunt, I didn't know that you knew my senior. What a pleasant surprise!" she beamed at this aunt she didn't really like.

After all, who could have a good attitude towards a young aunt who popped out of nowhere and married a man who was over two decades older?

Even though her aunt didn't seem to be at fault, considering how her uncle was madly in love with her. it just irks her to call someone around her age, Aunt and to be respectful toward her.

When she invited this Aunt over, she was looking forward to making things difficult. After all, in these women's eyes, her Aunt despite not having wrecked anyone's marriage, the fact that she was the current wife of her uncle irked them.

In their eyes and their conversations, they still labeled her as a gold digger, a vixen and a mistress. That's how sour and unwilling they were.

What she didn't expect was running into the senior she admires very much and never had ample time to actually chat with her. With someone she admires so much, who happen to be very close to the Aunt she didn't like. She would be digging her own grave if she harasses her idol, right?

Beatrix, on the other hand wanted to roll her eyes at seeing this unexpected and unbelievable side of Berth. This girl actually knows how to talk nicely?

She was expecting a humiliation from the start, not expecting to receive such a warm welcome. She should be grateful towards Amabel for such a grace welcome.

Nevertheless, Beatrix understand the art of dealing with people. She didn't dare express her true feelings towards this two-faced snake of a niece but smiled at her affectionately as she responded, "we recently became friends. A stroke of luck, if I might say," and didn't bother to hide the fact that they were now friends.

Berth was completely stunned when she heard her Aunt acknowledging her friendship with Amabel. How did these two even met? They were worlds apart, not that she looked down on Amabel.

Amabel comes from a humble background, but she had never put on any airs in school. In fact, she was very polite and helpful towards her classmates and juniors. That's how Berth came across Amabel. In her freshman year, struggling with homework with her friends, they were busy complaining in the school park when Amabel passed by.

Seeing them struggling, she returned to their group and explained to them in detail about what they were struggling with. And her clear explanation made them write their homework easily and earned quite a lot of marks as well.

From there, Berth became curious about Amabel, and it remained that way for years.

It was unfortunate that due to personal reasons, this senior had to drop out of school and start working. What she respected about her was the fact that she didn't give in to temptation but worked hard to pay the bills and all that.

Even if she later falls, Berth didn't think that she would hate Amabel. Who was she to judge?

Not even thinking about how she was contrasting herself between Amabel and her Aunt. Wasn't she a bit too biased?

If Beatrix were to hear her niece's thoughts, she would really become speechless and be forced to wonder what kind of idol filter her niece has.

After all, wasn't the kind of bias a bit too much?
