Chapter 7 - The Rite of Naming (1)

In a darkness, devoid of any light, signs of life or existence, lay a young man or boy nonetheless of whatever he looked like right now.

For where he lain, he had no familiarity with it. For where the place he lain he had no idea only guesses like 'This must be some part of space NASA failed to find', in an attempt to ease his conscious.

He felt neither cold nor hot, for the temperature was just right. And the floor or whatever he laid down on right now didn't feel cold nor warm nor hot.

No.

It felt quite, 'Comforting.' He thought while he struggled to breath and process what was happening.

And speaking of damn senseless events...

'So...'

'This is the boy... Cronix?'

A dimensional behemoth like voice boomed in the ears of Alex who was just as tired and puzzled as this creature before him

But how could he see this creature or source of voice without any source of light to depend on to use to see?

TAP!

A singular tap boomed through the vast space of this darkness as it seemed to have spread out.

'Huh? What-what just happened?' Alex thought out of the curiosity.

After a few moments of waiting, somewhere in this darkness, devoid of all kinds of light.

A single sparkle beamed slightly and disappeared. It beamed again and disappeared right after. It beamed once more and this time.

It wavered as it shrank and expanded in size as if it were a candle flame whose burn was merely influenced by the favor of the wind.

And then...

BOOOOOF!

It exploded and sent an ever-expanding wave of ghostly white aura throughout this darkness as it travelled at monstrous speeds.

Oblivious to the occurrences beyond him, Alex lain there silently gazing upon this one thing he was able to see in the darkness that was the seemingly benevolent creature in front of him.

He wondered many things and even wondered on his own thoughts. His every breath was excruciating yet calm and steady, his mind to pulse needles instead of blood in it and yet he maintained his sanity, his eyes felt like they could explode at any second from now and yet he fought with this so that he could gaze upon this creature before him.

But why? One would ask, would you let yourself go through all that instead of just calling for help or just rather killing yourself?

Why? Because he had no control over the situation like the public struggling to get a better government through rigorous riots and protests.

Could he change his state in the situation? No.

For it would be like turning a blind eye to someone who was about to fall off a cliff. And the cliff that he hanged on right now, possessed smooth rock and stood at a great length from the bottom for he was to fall to.

One finger, his eyes were almost gone.

Two fingers his voice was no longer able to scream out for help.

Three fingers, his blood ran cold and flowed as is numerous tiny needles flowed in place of his blood cells.

Four fingers, he could no longer feel his lower body and abdomen that seemingly dried up yet there was no hot sun to shine upon him and claim his bodily fluids.

And just when he when he was on the fifth finger...

SWOOOOSH!

It was for a moment. A slow yet enticing and magical one at that.

In his eyes, he saw something that he thought he would never get a chance to gaze upon.

"Light." He uttered the word from his mouth almost instinctively as he felt even more things that once felt like they had been taken off of him.

"Uh..., I can finally feel myself again."

He folded and unfolded his fingers; he stretched himself and he felt his joints loosen and snap, he moved his arms and legs and snapped at his head a little.

He checked and sighed in relief. For he was back to normal, but not to back to his normal residence which was planet.

This made him wonder, 'How am I able to breath here anyway?'

'Is this someplace that NASA hasn't discovered yet?'

'If so then....', he paused as he then slightly squinted his eyes and turned his head downwards slowly and what he saw was nothing but complete "darkness a lot and a lot of it."

He then questioned how long is stretched, how vast it was, was it like light?

That had the capability to stretch to the furthest ends of the galaxy. But he could be wrong because even with the ability of the light to stretch endlessly throughout the galaxy and space.

The longer its wavelength distance, the weaker the light gets and dimmer it becomes. But this darkness... it didn't seem like it had been inhibited by those limits just as the light was. No, it stretched endlessly with a maintained state and feeling that this was a darkness that not even a galaxy could expand and fill.

And that's when it hit him and he remembered that...

"Oh right, I'm not alone."

He said as he slowly turned up his head to look right in front of him as he saw what he had seen not so long ago.

His face that once held a hint of curiosity in it now contorted as it struggled to choose between confusion, shock, astonishment and worst of all fear.

Alex looked at the being and the being that stared back was large, it had ghost white skin, a long and slightly rectangular face, its eyes were dyed a deep pitch black just like the void they were in, it had thin white irises that shone like a freshly made marble, three black lines ran from its right eye socket down its face, it wore a robe soaked in pitch black, but painted with symbols that gave it a divine aura a kin to this being's structure. It wore and hood cover over its head that covered and shadowed.

This being was large, so large in fact that it had to size to a size large enough for this mere human to gaze upon it. Or at least that's what Alex thought.

It sat on a thrown that had a futuristic yet medieval polished design, it seemed to be made of a fine material that gave it a crystal and multi-color gleamed form. It was colored with what seemed to look a refined crystal cream color that shone dimly yet effortlessly so.

The being sat its head still covered in the hood that bend and rested on its left hand, its back seemed to be crouched slightly as it sat as its legs were seemingly spread out as its hand rested on the chair handle.

For a moment, a long complex silence hung in the air. The silence bore many things like confusion, astonishment, fear of one for the other, a deep need of confirmation, wonder and surprisingly a hint of familiarity.

Alex couldn't feel much of this all except for that weird feeling of familiarity between him and this colossal being.

And soon after, the being blinked and a curve carved itself on its lips for only a slight moment before saying, "So..."

"This is your plan B.... Cronix you damn bastard..."

He said his voice dominant and his aura steady yet seemingly more welcoming than before.

"You had us all baffled..."

"I mean really who would 'a thought that a mere ant could be able of achieving this?"

"Achieving what?" Alex mused at this being as it's gaze quickly shifted back to the boy who was neither scared nor baffled, no, he was in fact ready.

For whatever came his way.
