Chapter 27 - Chapter 27

Mmph—! Don't touch me!

Chen Yi tightly hugged Sister Meow's arms, struggling fiercely, trying to escape being bullied in her embrace.

However, his vigorous struggles only ignited an even greater desire within Li Miao'er's heart.

Her beautiful eyes grew brighter.

Heh—

With a mischievous smirk, Li Miao'er laid her brother's soft, delicate body flat on the bed, then leaned over and gently pressed him down beneath her.

Looking at his unconvinced expression, his flushed handsome face, his eyes of resistance, his tightly pressed thin lips, and his alluring Adam's apple…

It was as if a strange attribute had awakened within her. Seeing her brother struggle so desperately only made her more excited.

"Li Miao'er! What do you think you're doing?!"

Chen Yi pushed hard against Sister Meow's delicate frame, but couldn't budge her an inch.

Not even the strength to resist… unable to struggle… This is the most unacceptable thing of all.

"Brother, guess what I want to do right now~"

Li Miao'er's pretty face was full of playful smirks. She lightly licked her moist, pink lips, gazed into those clear, enchanting ice-blue eyes, leaned down, and slowly lowered her head to gently kiss his lips.

Mmmph—

Chen Yi no longer wanted to resist. He just felt extremely thirsty and was truly exhausted after struggling for so long.

Mmph…

Li Miao'er blinked her eyes happily, but when she saw her brother closing his eyes without resistance…

She felt a little angry. There was no sense of accomplishment at all—it felt very uncomfortable.

Her beautiful eyes grew even brighter. She was no longer satisfied with the current situation; the movements of her hands grew more excessive.

Ow! That hurts!

Li Miao'er abruptly sprang up, covering her small, cherry-like mouth as she whimpered softly, a particularly pained expression on her lovely face.

Huff…

Chen Yi sat up, hugging his knees, and took a few deep breaths. Then he said softly, "Meow… are you okay?"

He felt a pang of regret—he shouldn't have used so much force. It must have really hurt her tongue.

"Brother… don't you like me?"

Li Miao'er's eyes were filled with grievance, her small face a mask of frost. She hugged her brother's soft body, laying him back down on the bed, and stared seriously into his deep, starry eyes.

If he dared to say he didn't like her, she would force herself on him, completely taking possession of everything that was his.

"I do like you. But you have to give me some time to accept it. Otherwise, I won't love you. Even if you get my body, you'll never have my heart."

Chen Yi met Sister Miao's gaze, spoke the words in his heart, then forcefully turned over and closed his eyes.

He needed time to get used to it. While everything was good, it was still a bit difficult to fully accept.

Sitting beside him, Li Miao'er was stunned. She'd been too impatient—how could her brother not like her?

They could even trade their lives to save each other, so why wouldn't Brother love her?

A twisted melon isn't sweet, but it quenches thirst—Li Miao'er understood this.

But she was afraid her brother would truly be sad. Better not to rush things; give him some time to adapt.

"Brother… It was my fault earlier. I shouldn't have bullied you like that. Don't be angry, okay?"

Li Miao'er turned off the small desk lamp, crawled over to her brother, stretched out her small hands to gently embrace him, rested her soft head on the pillow, and buried her little face in the warm, fragrant hollow of his neck.

"Alright. Go to sleep now. Mwah~"

Chen Yi smiled faintly and kissed Sister Meow's forehead, then wrapped his arms around her and held her tight.

It's hard to stay angry with such an adorable little sister.

"Mhm~"

Li Miao'er lay docilely in her brother's embrace and closed her eyes. His arms were very warm—utterly captivating.

In the bedroom, only the sound of steady, quiet breathing remained. In this apocalyptic world, it seemed so serene and warm.

Bang! Bang! Bang! "Xiao Yi! Are you home?!"

Chen Yi, sleeping soundly while holding Sister Meow, was abruptly awakened by a frantic knocking on the door accompanied by a hoarse female voice.

Hearing that voice gave him a familiar feeling.

"Ugh… so sleepy! Who's knocking?!"

Li Miao'er sat up, using her small hand to switch on the desk lamp. Her cute little face was full of irritation.

"Meow, doesn't this voice sound like Sister Qing'er? Is she back?"

Chen Yi got up and straightened his clothes. He handed the machete to Sister Miao and took a small desk lamp to go check.

"It kinda does. Might be her."

Li Miao'er took the machete and gave it a couple of practice swings. If only Miss Qing'er were okay… I want to return the humiliation I suffered from her before.

"Sister Qing'er? Is that you outside?" Chen Yi walked to the door and asked in a low voice.

"It's me! Xiao Yi, open the door!"

Ye Qing'er shouted excitedly. She'd thought her beloved brother next door was gone—it was all just an illusion.

Click—

The moment Chen Yi opened the door, a powerful stench assaulted his senses, and he was immediately pulled into a soft, ample embrace.

The smell emanating from Qing'er's body made it hard to breathe.

"Sister Qing'er? You're really alive? Get away from my brother!"

Li Miao'er forcefully pulled Ye Qing'er away, also yanking Chen Yi behind her. She didn't want this woman touching her brother.

"You little troublemaker, you're living pretty well too, huh?"

Ye Qing'er carefully examined the two people before her in the lamplight. These days must have been really comfortable for them—their bodies are clean and fair, as if they've never experienced any disaster.

"Sister Qing'er, where are your uncle and aunt? Why did you come back alone?"

Chen Yi stepped to the doorway and looked out. She had returned alone, her clothes covered in dried blood.

Even her hair and face were coated with a layer of grayish grime. She looked far more wretched than a beggar.

Thud.

Ye Qing'er dropped the steel pipe in her hand, collapsed onto the floor, leaned against the wall, and took several deep breaths.

"That night before last, we were drinking at the hotel. No one expected a biochemical crisis to break out. Aunt Zhang and the others were killed by zombies on the spot. My mom and a few other aunties desperately fled into the sewers."

"The five of us hid in the sewer for a whole day. Just last night, we ran into a rat bigger than a human. We fought with all our might—three people died before we finally killed the rat. My mom was also seriously injured… and passed away. Sob… sob…"

As she spoke, Ye Qing'er began to cry. Gray, muddy tears streamed continuously down her chin—a somewhat horrifying sight.

"Sister Qing'er, don't be sad. What's done is done. Have some water to soothe your throat."

Chen Yi took a glass of water and handed it to Sister Qing'er, gently patting her shoulder, urging her not to grieve too much.

Gulp, gulp, gulp—

Ye Qing'er took the glass and drained it in one go. She hadn't eaten all day, and now that she was back in a familiar, safe place, she finally relaxed.

"Sister Qing'er, how did you manage to escape?" Li Miao'er asked curiously.

"I dissected the rat and found a white crystal in its chest… which I swallowed."

"Just like in the novels, it triggered a bloodline evolution. The leg that was broken by the rat healed back to normal, and my strength is many times greater than before."

Ye Qing'er clenched her fist and slammed it against the floor, her face etched with anguish. *If my mother had held on just a little longer, if she'd given me this crystal… she might not have died.
