It was the middle of the night.
Somewhere in a forest, a mother and son.
Lucian clutched Aurelia's sleeve, his small fingers trembling.
Lucian "Mom… where are we? I'm scared."
Aurelia forced a smile, though her stomach twisted like a knot.
Aurelia "Ah, don't worry honey. Nothing happened… I think."
Truth was, she had no idea. One second they were watching TV, the next they were standing in the middle of a massive forest. No explanation. No warning.
The air shimmered. A blue screen materialized in front of them, glowing like ghost‑light.

Aurelia snapping "Wait. Who are you calling my son?!"
Lucian's eyes widened, tears threatening. Aurelia bit back her curse. Damn it, if I yell, he'll panic more. She hugged him tightly.
Aurelia softly "Nothing, baby. I just… got surprised."
She straightened, glaring at the screen, speaking through her mind.
Aurelia "Is this some kind of ghost scam? Show yourself!"
The screen flickered violently.

Lucian blinked, half‑terrified, half‑confused.

Aurelia deadpanly "Because apparently the air thinks it can talk. And now we're stuck in a forest."
The screen collapsed, then rebooted.

Aurelia's jaw dropped. Friendly? Sure. First you dump me in a forest, then you scare my son. What are you really?
She muttered in her mind, voice trembling between disbelief and sarcasm
Aurelia "Friendly system, huh? If you're so friendly, explain why my stomach feels like it just fell into hell."

Lucian tugged her sleeve again, whispering
Lucian: "Mom… are we safe?"
Aurelia crouched, hugging him tight. Her warmth steadied his shaking body, though her own heart hammered like a war drum.
Aurelia with soft voice "Safe? I don't know yet, honey. But I promise… I'll make you safe."
She stood, gripping his hand.
Aurelia "Let's find somewhere first."
They wandered through the unknown forest, the night pressing in around them. Shadows stretched like claws. The air was damp, heavy with the scent of moss and something metallic.
Lucian clung tighter, his voice trembling.
Lucian "Mom… it's too quiet. I don't like it."
Aurelia scanned the trees. He's right. No birds. No wind. Just silence. That kind of silence meant predators.
A low growl rippled through the underbrush. Leaves shivered. Something big was moving.
Her pulse spiked. Not now. Not with Lucian here.
After tense minutes,
they stumbled upon a cave. Aurelia guided Lucian inside, settling him on her lap. She stroked his hair until his breathing slowed, until sleep finally claimed him.
Only then did she let her mask crack. Her hands shook. Her throat was dry. She wanted to scream, but bit her lip until it bled.

Aurelia's chest tightened. Her vision blurred. No way back. Stuck here. With Lucian. Alone.
Her breath came fast, panic clawing at her ribs. She pressed a hand to her mouth, forcing herself to calm down. Not now. Not in front of him. I can't break.
Aurelia shaking "So… I'm isekai'd with my son. And my babysitter is a glitchy ghost tablet. Fine. What functions do you even have?"

The cave walls carried the sound like a drumbeat, each echo stabbing into Aurelia's chest. Lucian jolted awake, clutching her arm, his eyes wide and lips trembling.
Lucian "Mom… someone's out there…"
