Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Gift From Celestia

The gentle rustling of grass, the eerie silence of the wilderness. The silence being broken by a lone rabbit hopping into the open, its nose peeked upwards into the air, blissfully unaware of the predator that was currently on the hunt.

Concealed by the greenery of the forest, perched on one tree was a lone young man. His crimson red eyes pierced through the dark veil of the forest overhang as he stalked his prey. His eyes and thoughts locked on the rabbit in front of him as his hand slowly reached down to his waist and in a swift motion his arm swung back up, unsheathing a dagger on his hip and sending it flying through the air, striking the defenseless rabbit causing the life to leave its body as it collapses against the ground. The rabbit's life coming to an end as did the serious expression on the man's face. His expression softened as a smile graced his face, he hopped down from the trees, dropping down and grabbing a branch to flip and gain momentum landing right next to his fresh kill, his otherwise smooth landing being impeded by a piece of his outfit placing itself on his head.

" Damn, I've been practicing that landing for so long now, why couldn't the hood land on my head if that's gonna happen." The man complained to himself.

His clothing resembled one of someone that was in the wilds a lot, he wore a cyan hooded cloak that had indigo lining and accents. Around his waist was a matching cyan belt with long hip guards that covered most of his legs except for the inner parts of his thighs as they almost resembled baggy pants. Underneath everything was a skin tight black jumpsuit that hugged his abs, chest, and rear allowing for unhindered movement. he pulled his misaligned cloak off of his head and shook it, he had wild untamed navy blue hair with one long braid that found its place on his collarbone, pieces of silver hanging from his ear as he bent down and grabbed his dagger from the corpse lying in front of him.

Blood drips down the tip of the blade as he took it into his hand, spinning it in his palm before he grabbed the hilt and swiftly slashed out to his right, blood flinging off his blade and splattering across the nearby trees and bushes. Sheathing his dagger into the sheath on his hip he bent down again and picked the rabbit up by its ears, blood dripping down from the large dagger wound on its head. He Hoisted it up with a big smile on his face.

" Now to clean this up and sell this off can't have it losing all its blood though." he chirped out with a big smile.

Holding the rabbit in his left hand he'd raise up his right hand and suddenly energy would start to swirl up. His right arm started to pop and crackle as electricity manifested itself in his body. Coalescing at his shoulder the current flows down his arm, streaks of electricity swirled down his arm like bolts of lightning, merging in his palm they funneled into his index finger. Pointing his index at the wound on the corpse of the rabbit a controlled current of lightning started to strike and burn the large incision made by his dagger. Slowly moving up the wound and cauterizing it with lighting, sweat would run down the man's brow as his gaze and attention were completely focused on the cauterization process. Finishing the process the rabbit would stop leaking blood as he wiped his brow of the sweat that had welled up on his face.

" Whew, I need to work on my control more." A slight sigh would escape his lips as he finished up his work.

The bolts of electricity running up and down his arm cease as he takes the rabbit's ears and uses them to tie it up to one of the loops on his belt. With the rabbit tied up and ready to go the man would start to make his way out of the forest he was currently in. It was an expansive forest that stretched on and on, even the most experienced adventurers and travelers could end up lost before they knew it. As the man starts on his way out he'd be passing a series of trees that all had an engraving on them. He's been in these woods countless times and as a result he's marked different trees as indicators of location. Presumably making his way out of the forest was when the sound of an ear splitting shriek would slice through the air, a vast array of different forest creatures scurrying away from one direction. The man plugs his ears as the shriek travels through the trees until it comes to a halt. A cocky smirk just appears on the man's face as he licks his lips.

" seems a big catch showed up, can't let this go to waste!" He'd chirp out before the sparks and cackling of lightning coalesce at his feet and with it a flow of electricity fills his legs sending him jolting in the direction of the ear splitting shriek.

Bolting past all manners of bushes, branches, and roots, a trail of lightning surges through the forest as the man nimbly traverses deeper and deeper into the woods eager for this big catch. Bushes and branches being shook by massive gusts of wind as he continues on his newfound hunt until he suddenly comes to a stop. His chest rising and falling with his heavy breaths, sweat starting to run down his brow. He'd down to the floor as that cocky smirk of his changed to one of nervousness.

" This might be a bit out of my pay grade." He'd chuckle out to himself as he looks up to the beast that he had just rushed head first into.

In front of him was a massive Avian creature, towering over the trees as its massive talons crushed the ones it used as small perches. Coated in golden brown feathers that flapped and sent gusts of wind through the trees, sending leaves flying past the man who just stood there looking up at the beast. The man's hair being propelled behind him from the giant gusts of wind being created from the creature's massive wings. The man slowly crouches down and unsheathes the blade on his hip. Him and the beast had already locked eyes. A deep exhale escapes his lips before his crimson eyes dart up and in the next second he's bursting forward leaving a discharge of lightning at his feet. Dashing towards this massive beast just as quick as he took off he donned his blade and began his assault. A flurry of blows connect with the avian creature, each strike sending him striking past its body as if it was being assaulted by a barrage of lightning itself, however even with this powerful barrage the only signs of damage were a few singed feathers and an otherwise enraged bird. Unleashing a final slash the man would slash up the creature's body leaving him suspended in the air above the trees. Looking down at the beast he clicked his teeth with a smirk on his face.

" not even a scratch... maybe I should-"

Before the man could finish his sentence a shriek echoed through the forest. The deafening cry of the Rok forced the man to drop his dagger and cover his ears with both hands. His concentration breaking and the electrical surges that were coating his body quickly faded and in the next moment the beast had flapped its wings and shot up meeting its adversary face to face. With no time to react the man looks up only to be met with the beak of the bird colliding with his chest. The size and force of the beast sent him soaring through the skies back down towards the ground. Countless branches break as they collide with the man on his brutal descent from the skies until his flight makes an abrupt stop as his back connects with a tree. A loud thud being made from the impact as blood starts to pour from his forehead. A crater is left in the tree as he slumps to the ground in front of it, blood starting to run down his face. Wincing in pain, one eye already starting to swell shut as he held onto the left side of his body, his labored breathing increasing in intensity as his heart pounds in his chest. The Rok soon swooping down and perching itself on two trees letting out another shriek and out stretching its wings. The man just looking up with a smirk,

" I guess... this is where... my tale ends..."

His speech was interrupted by a cough of blood as he looked up towards the sky. Recalling the events of his life, giving a soft chuckle as he can't remember even a single inspiring or major event of note about his life. Nothing, nothing of importance ran through the man's mind, no life changing moments, no love of his life or anyone that would miss him, nothing but hunting and surviving crossed his mind in his final moments.

But among his fruitless soul searching a streak of light cascaded through the sky. Like a shooting star something cut through the clouds, crash landing in front of a certain man that was on their deathbed. A cloud of dust and dirt forming and blocking off the man's vision of his would be killer as a faint blue light starts to shine through the dust cloud. Levitating out of the cloud was a small shimmering blue crystalline object, it was like a star with twelve distinct points. The mysterious object floating and gently sliding through the air until it suddenly shot forward piercing the man in the chest. The man's eyes go wide as the object vanishes and suddenly a mass of blue energy envelopes him, whirring around and swirling into a massive ball around him the man was being flooded with energy. His wounds close as the blood vanishes from his skin before the bubble of energy that had formed around him bursts sending a wave of energy imbued winds through the forest. The man rises to his feet, looking down at his hands he could feel a new strange energy flooding through his entire body. But that wasn't all looking up at his avian assailant he could see everything. Each of its weak points, and even a current of energy flooding through its entire body, his eyes fading from their crimson red to a deep never ending purple. A single breath escaping from the sides of his mouth and in the next instance a blast of purple energy pounded the ground beneath sending him hurtling through the air and with it he pierced through the creature's chest. Unceremoniously tumbling back down to the ground sliding and kicking up dirt as he leaves marks in the ground.

But something was off, he could feel an intense beating in his hand, looking down he'd see it, the very heart of the beast was beating in hand, thump after thump slowly coming to a halt. The man's eyes going wide and a soft chuckle came from him.

" ha, ha.... That shows you..."

He mumbles out before his eyes closed and he collapses on the ground, exhaustion taking over his body as he fades out of consciousness.
