Chapter 6 - chapter 6

Asher Sharpe~

'Estella Cole confuses the hell outta me. Why would she like me? I'm almost as bad as Everest. At least Everest doesn't have a murderous streak, that I know of anyway.' I sighed and put my headphones on, suddenly uninterested in what the girls were talking about. When Cassidy left, I got this nagging feeling like I needed to walk, so I got up and left. Everest will be back to Estella soon enough. I walked around the school three times trying to get her off my mind, but I couldn't stop thinking about her shocked expression when she blasted us with that undeniable power. I feel that she could be dangerous if she marries Everest, but she said it herself, she doesn't really have a choice. I recounted all the times Estella looked at me, and I looked at them in a new light. 'She likes me.' I shake my head, 'she doesn't even know me, I have lots of secrets that would make her run for the hills if she knew them.'

Two days passed, and tonight was the full moon party. 'I really hope we can get back early enough so Estella doesn't see me in the worst way.' Estella kept refusing her friend until the last minute, so here I was waiting for her to finish getting ready. Estella walked out of the bathroom, and already Cassidy was squealing. I don't blame her, though, even though I know I can't have her; she makes me want her so badly. I looked her up and down, and it felt like the whole world stopped for a few minutes. She was wearing a short mini black dress with her hair in a bun, she had gold earrings and a gold rose necklace. I looked away, wiping the look off my face, trying not to care, but Cassidy had other plans. She looked at me and asked how Estella looked.

"She looks beautiful, now can we go? I want to be back early," I sighed. I instantly regretted how I said that because Estella's face dropped a little. I looked away, uncomfortable because I know I can't take it back now. We left the room to head down to the party. The second we entered the room, my senses went haywire. 'Too many people, too many smells. I need to go outside.'

I started to walk away, but I saw Everest making out with some girl, and there was also another girl on the other side touching his chest, hoping to get attention too. My anger boiled, and I looked over at Estella, hoping she didn't see. But the unmistakable disappointment in her eyes pushed me to the edge. I stalked over to him and pushed the girls away. I grabbed him by the ear and dragged him outside without anyone but Estella noticing. She looked very angry, too, but I couldn't let her see what was about to happen to me. I can tell myself all I want that I don't care about her, but it's a lie.

"Get out of here, Estella!" I shouted.

Her face hardened as she replied, "No, I'm not leaving." She clapped her hands together, and magic sparked. Suddenly, the music and the chattering stopped, as well as a spilled drink that floated in the air. I couldn't help but wonder what she did. It looked like only I, Everest, and Estella could move. My eyes widened, 'she just stopped time,' but I couldn't focus on that; my eyes went back to Everest. I went to punch him in the face, but I could already feel my bones shifting. I cried out in pain. I knew it was coming, but I didn't think it'd be so soon.
